Mr and Mrs Doorschlammer

I am so glad to see this post. If I have said it once I have said it a dozen times per cruise to my dh. He can sleep through anything and noises don't bother him. I am on my way right now to show this to him and stand by while he reads it.

I am like another poster in that I really cringe if I should accidentally let it slam.

We have been known to accidentally remove do not disturb signs of neighbors who repeatedly make a great deal of noise in the middle of the night....

OOH - I like this idea! :D

I catch the "neighbor" when I can and ask for them to try to stop slamming the door. If they don't stop... it's time for the flaming poop bag gag.

Please don't use my last name in the title of a thread. Thanks.

We have only sailed Celebrity once and were very surprised by the adjacent cabin doors in a shared alcove on the Reflection. It seemed like a poor design to us. Not only can it be noisy, but we literally bumped into our neighbors when we exited the cabin at the same time. All ships have cabins in close proximity and across the hall, but most do not share the door frame.

Oh, you must have had the same next door neighbors as we had on our Eclipse Holiday Cruise, a couple of years ago. Door slamming at ALL hours of the night! At 3:00 am, we asked ourselves: WHAT is still even open, at this hour? The Disco? The Casino? These same people had their "do not disturb" sign out until afternoon every day. We even heard our cabin steward quietly complaining to his assistant that they couldn't ever clean that cabin, during normal morning service hours.

Maybe a phone call to their cabin at 7:00 a.m. from a hallway phone when you get up for an early breakfast?? "Oh, so sorry, I have the wrong cabin"

After a couple of days, a light may come on. Or maybe it will just make you feel better to wake them up during the day when they have woken you up at all hours of the night.

It only takes letting the cabin door slam once, accidentally, for you to get it and then exercise caution after that. Continued slamming is rude. As are the people that leave their balcony lights on but that was our last nightmare. :roll eyes:

When we've had issues with cabins neighbors - I've tried leaving a friendly sticky note on the door. It works more often than not.

We had these same neighbors next to us....we loved going out on our dark balcony amd look at the moon and the stars...yet our neighbor insisted on keeping their balcony light on every night. Ruined the experience for us. They were also door slammers...in & out, in & out. Some people are either oblivious or just inconsiderate. 👿

A few timely slammed doors early in the morning would have probably let them know what they were doing was a bother to others or it could have just scared them out of their sleep!!! Edited by NLH Arizona

Cruise ships... where one goes to judge and be judged. What you wear, how you close your door, what time you go to bed, what time you allow the stateroom attendant in... [emoji849] On the HAL board it's now all about people who have the audacity to switch their balcony light on, disturbing others' evening views with it. And so it goes on and on. Too many people busy with what other people do as opposed to enjoying themselves.

I can't quite get my head around someone being on their cruise and then taking time to come on here to complain about doors banging :).

Ask guest relations for a sheet of A4 paper (or larger) Beg or borrow a felt tip pen (preferably one with a thicker wick) and print on it in large letters,

Please don't slam the door and stick it to your door. Trust me, your neighbours will get the message.

Of course, people are on vacation, but so am I. High noise levels at that time of the morning (3am - 5 am) I would be calling Guest Services, it really is nothing short of inconsiderate

If they are up all night and letting the door slam even after you have kindly asked them to be careful then it's time to let them know what it is like. We had the same problem before and they would sleep in late. I started letting our door slam early in the morning. After the second day they got the hint and were more careful about it.

Exactly!

Spoken from those who have never encountered a persistent and inconsiderate door slammer at all hours of the day and night. If you had, you would never have made those comments.

My point was that if I was on a cruise, in this situation, I wouldn't waste my holiday time posting to a forum to complain. I'm not sure posting it achieves anything.

Perhaps the OP is like us...we travel/cruise 6 months a year, every year, so to spend a minute or two out of our "holiday" in the effort that some inconsiderate pax would read it and see themselves in the mirror may achieve something.

That is a good point too, although at least it is limited to the cabin cleaning times.

That's what we thought until we had a cabin across from a service door on Infinity. Room service and maintenance personnel ran in and out quite often. Forget about sleeping on the last night of a cruise due to removal of luggage in the hallway.

That's one of the things I like about the S Class ships, no balcony lights.

My post was specifically about noise rather than anything else. I remember you have posted a few times not being happy about a couple in the cabin next to you bringing a baby onboard and the baby's crying keeping you awake.

Hmmm, perhaps not so much taking time to come here and complain, but rather highlight an issue that some might read and think about their neighbours next time. If it saves one cruiser here from the pain then it's been worth it. I don't think it's ever been discussed with its own thread, but replies here suggest it gets to some as much as it does me.
