Sky suite or Celebrity suite

Wondering what you think about a Sky Suite versus Celebrity Suite? Sky is 300 sq ft and Celebrity is 394 sq ft, but the cost difference is significant. This is for a New Zealand cruise which is port intensive, so we won't be spending a lot of time in the cabin. I think I am talking myself into the cheaper one! Am I forgetting something important about the difference?

Our last 3 cruises we have been in Sky Suites. We had been mostly Aqua cabins before that. We do enjoy the Suite Life. If it is just 2 people I would go with a Sky Suite. If your with another couple the Celebrity Suite might be better as the bedroom has a door. Giving both couples some privacy. You will be able to have meals served in your suite by your butler. Also you will get more Captain's Club points if you book the Celebrity Suite. If I would book a Celebrity Suite it would be on a TA, Australia to Hawaii or Hawaii to Vancouver. What I'm try to say is a cruise with more sea days to enjoy the suite. As your will be on the Solstice I would check out the following for noise. Some of the S2 suites do have noise from the Oceanveiw cafe.

Thank you! It is just one couple. We are really not interested in an Aqua Suite, but I agree with you it makes more more sense to have a larger suite when there are more sea days, except I avoid cruises with a lot of sea days! So I think I will go with the Sky Suite.

On the S class ships the Celebrity Suites do not have a dining table like they do on the M class ships. So the only plus IMHO to a Celebrity Suite is a separate bedroom as I find the CS on the S class ships to feel cramped.

On a port intensive cruise I would go with a S1 and save a few $.

Thank you - that's just the kind of info I was wondering about!

We would also prefer a Sky Suite over a CS on an S class ship for just a couple....we didn't like the 'inside' feel of the bedroom. The CS becomes a good consideration if you are travelling with a third adult or children.

I did both on Solstice. CS from Sydney and Fiji and SkySuite for New Zealand because I could not get the CS for 2nd cruise on B2B.

We were able to get the Aft SS and actually preferred it due to the broad views it offered from the back of the ship. If those are available you should grab it. The bathroom also has a better layout and seemed larger than the CS.

We took an upgrade offer on Millennium in 2015 for $800 total from a balcony to a Sky Suite. It was one of the larger ones and very nice. Our butler was great, but we hardly used him. We loved dining in Luminae, but missed our new cruise friends from the roll call that didn't dine there.

DW and I concluded that we would never pay the standard prices for a suite. The extra space and dining in Luminae is just not worth paying 3 or 4 times what is costs for a balcony.

Re: Captain's C;ub points - what is the difference between Sky Suites and Celebrity suites? I was under the impression it was the same for any suite.

One of the reasons we opted for a Sky Suite over the Celebrity suite was the fact that the bedroom in the CS was completely closed off from any outside light (to me, just like being in an inside cabin). FWIW, we loved our aft SS and can't wait to live the suite life again.

Sky Suites receive 8 points/night

Celebrity, Signature & Royal Suites receive 12 points/night

Penthouse & Reflection (and the larger Edge Class suites) receive 18 points/night

There is real danger in selecting a Celebrity Suite!

We sailed in our first CS in 2001 and have never been able to book anything less than a CS since. While the CS on the S-Class don't have a dining table there is so much more you do have. In my mind a SS is not a suite it is only a bigger room with some perks. To me a suite means having a separate bedroom with a door in between. I like the aspect that the bathroom on a CS on a S-Class have 2 doors so you don't have to go to the bedroom to get to the bathroom while on the M-Class that is the only way to get to the bath.

While many will tell you all suites are treated equal, believe me there are differences.

I would never do a CS. The bathroom is smaller than the S1 corner afts. The bedroom is quite small. I love the big open space of the S1's and the wake, even though it is a long walk; for me the S1corner aft hands down. The bedroom doesn't even have a window! I am referring to the S class ships and CS....you will either like the CS or hate it..no in between.

Thank you all - this has been even more interesting than I anticipated!

Just came off the Equinox where we were offered a Celebrity Suite week before we departed. Took the offer. We always sail in a Sky Suite, CS was an upgrade. We loved all the room, the big sectional, huge closet, separete bedroom, large balcony. Would we stay in another one? Probably not. We love our Sky Suites and for the amount of time we spent in our room, all that room is not needed. We did find that we got more attention from the staff in a CS but that could be a fluke. Enjoy your vacation no matter what room you choose. You will have wonderful Luminae and Michael's Club!!!

We have sailed in just about all levels of suites, but for us, the S1 on Solstice class wins out. We just love this suite ---- large bathroom, tremendous balcony, wake view, extra light from the porthole, plenty of room. The only downside is the long walk, but we managed that. Plus, it now comes with all the suite perks. If you can book one of these, do it.

We have done both the CS and S1 suites and both are very nice with the suite 4-perks package from Celebrity being the same either way. We just go for the best deal. The CS is considered a premium suite on board - you might get invited to a bridge tour or something like that but not sure if that makes up for the price difference. And as mentioned more CC points per night in the CS. We do like the separate BR in the CS. We have felt the same amount of pampering from Celebrity staff in MC or Luminae in both classes of suites. Exceptional. There has been a lot of discussion on these boards that the CS should offer more than the Sky Suite for the price- but the greater space and layout is really the only meaningful difference.

We just booked a Sky Suite over the Celebrity Suite for half the price. The only benefit we won't get is entry into Michaels club, which we only went in once on our last cruise anyway. Our main concern was being able to go into Luminae's which is available with the Sky !

Sky Suites can go into Michael's club.

We have sailed in both multiple times on both S and M class Ships. We prefer the S class Celebrity Suite for a long cruise. However it is expensive and the Sky suites are also nice. You get the same perks with the S class suites and the Celebrity suites- so if budget is a concern, I would certainly sail in a sky suite. You will have adequate storage space in both.

On the M class suites, the Celebrity suite is much bigger then the sky suites- Actually they are like an apartment. You have a living/dining room and a full bedroom with a walk in closet. The only negative IMO is that the bathroom has a very deep bathtub, so if you are short- not easy to get in and out of. Also on the M class ships, the Celebrity suites, were not refurbished as only the Royal and Penthouse was on some ships and other ships pending. The Sky Suites also are in need of refurbishing-but adequate. If you get a sky suite on M Class, try to get either 6145 or 6146, both next to the penthouse with a huge marble bathroom with a tub and separate stall shower with glass doors. We have sailed on S class both S1 and S2 and prefer the S2. The S1 while having a nice aft view, is too sunny most of the day to dine or sit if you aren't a sun worshipper. We also had a smaller clothes closet and a pole near the bed which you must avoid walking into if you get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. In addition on our cruise we had a cleaning apparatus in front of our porthole window.

Enjoy your cruise.

We've also sailed in both suites. On the S class ship we really like the CS mainly because of the upgraded veranda furniture. When we are on the ship we are on the veranda. We also really like the separate rooms. The size of the bedroom did not bother us, however we didn't like the "window" looking into the living room.

The SS is just a bigger cabin. We haven't sailed in one since they added suite perks. On the flip side of that they took away some perks on the CS. For the prices being charged for the CS I think that was a mistake.

Thanks....it didn't show that as one of our perks !

Yes, the published perks for Sky Suites are now essentially the same as the higher suites -- although there is speculation that suite level status is known [certainly to your Butler] and reflected in the amount of informal perks that are thrown your way. We got upsold to a Celebrity Suite [never having had a Sky Suite] and certainly felt that we were treated like Royalty. Hard to imagine what occupants of actual Royal Suites felt like ...

Thanks for the help ! Last time on Infinity, we had the Royal Suite and the service was unbelievable, right from the terminal where we were escorted to Michaels lounge to meet our Concierge, to all the extras all thru the cruise. When we went to the speciality restaurants and the ask your room number, you could see an immediate change in the hosts.....almost to the point of " how may I kiss your a** today Sir ? I got the Royal last time because the price was extremely low, but figured that was a once in a lifetime price, so it might not happen again .
