Ok I am a Royal Caribbean diehard(Oasis Class) but thinking about the Celebrity big ships. I have also been on Disney, Carnival and Princess. Make me a believer in Celebrity! Me and my fiancé love cruises and I love gambling too.

Just search and read through the Celebrity board there are numerous posts on RCL vs Celebrity. Celebrity has no ships as large as Oasis Class - nowhere even close. You will need to sell yourself on Celebrity.

I agree with the above poster. I would never try to sell a stranger a product. What happens if you hate it? Would you come back here on CC and complain about it? I agree....do the research. I have been on Oasis and Allure and even the Anthem .... and they are nothing like Celebrity. Totally different

Celebrity is our favorite cruise line. We have cruised on NCL when the price was just too good to pass up or we had family booked on the same cruise.

We like the ambience and classy sense of a no hassle cruise. Very little loud speaker yelling at the pool. Little solicitation for things we don't want.

Still, Celebrity's bundling of prices with promos that we don't want are pricing it out of our cruise selection. Next year we have two cruises out of Australia with RCI because the prices were far better than X.

Risky for someone to 'sell' you on a cruise line....what one cruiser may love others may hate.

If it helps in any way my feelings about a mega RC cruise are about 'action' and 'entertainment' whereas my feelings on Celebrity are about 'rest' and 'relaxation'....

When we were younger (and traveled with young ones) we loved the buzz on RC, now we just find it loud....

If you and your fiancée fancy some nice romantic meals, strolling around the lawn at midnight and enjoying a few nice cocktails then you may enjoy a Celebrity cruise, if you want ongoing entertainment and activities you will find X lacking in comparison.

Can't comment on the casinos, never use them on either line!

Final point....getting off a RC cruise we often feel in need of a holiday, getting off a Celebrity cruise we feel relaxed and refreshed.

I have sailed with Celebrity, love it. I have sailed on Anthem, when she launched, and felt she was similar to Celebrity (elegant) but Anthem had more 'toys' i.e. more fun stuff like bumper cars etc. Only you know what you might miss or prefer?

Perhaps your TA knows you better and would be a better source for your questions. A very subjective question. Nobody wants to sell you. Take a Celebrity cruise, decide for yourself. Can't hurt. Food good, etc.

Sorry but Celebrity will fall short if you are an RCCL Oasis Class Ship fan. None of their ships are anything like that.

We have done 4 RCCL Cruises, Explorer, Liberty and 2 on Anthem. Overall Celebrity has better food and service than any RCCL cruise I have taken. They do not have any of the bells and whistles, no bumper cars, ice skating rinks, mini golf, etc. If you require those when you sail than you should stick with RCCL. Celebrity also does not have Broadway shows, i.e. Hairspray, Grease, etc. on their ships.

My first and only Cruise so far (until December) was on Celebrity. My whole life I was against cruising. I thought the food would be terrible, I thought I'd be bored, etc. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I can't comment on X vs any other line yet, but i can tell you that I was incredibly impressed with the food, service and over all experience. Even the buffet had some items that were impossible to not overindulge in. Our room was comfortable, immaculately cleaned and quiet. I hope my Carnival cruise this year doesn't disappoint.

Following what others have said, so much depends on your own likes and needs. I love Celebrity. I loved Royal until I tried Celebrity to get an itinerary I wanted. I love the quiet elegance Celebrity offers me. I don't need bumper cars etc so Celebrity is for me. I am not a fan of cruising with 5400 people so Celebrity is for me. At the urging of some good friends I did try the Oasis class experience and found the crowds were too much for me, the food was not for me--ended up spending more money to eat in specialty restaurants most nights--and the service was a notch below what I had come to expect. So it is really all about what you and your bride to be want from a cruise. For me, if I have a choice, I chose Celebrity, never had a bad trip with them, in fact each one is better than the last.

Well the 5 Celebrity S-class ships, which are their 'biggest' only carry 2500-2900 passengers. No where close to the 5000-5500 that the Oasis class can carry.

Never feeling 'crowded', (except when the hoards hit the 3 for $10 t-shirt and watch sale ,) is the main thing for us. We are Diamond, 1st in 1989, sailed 4 diff class'es, and Elite, 1st in 1994, so we get it. Celebrity is like a relaxing time at the country club, RCCL is like a hurried day at a theme park.

Our last RCCL was the Freedom in 2011, Princess in 2012, 2013,14,15 were Celebrity.

We tried Oasis....nothing like Celebrity if Royal equivalent is what you are seeking..

Was too big, smaller staterooms, felt crowded all over, very windy in many outdoor areas, seemed geared more to family oriented demographic, great for kiddies.

We had to reserve everything ahead and still wait on lines.....the mdr and specialty dining food and service did not compare favorably to X..reminded us of a big mall but not very upscale.

. We hid out at the Solarium area but that also was very crowded...Shows and music not that much better than X, other than Oasis had an island band at the pool area.

We did like the nightly Diamond gathering on Oasis..nothing as good on X...

We do not gamble so can't compare casinos.

Only way you'll know , is to try...maybe Reflection.. ( biggest S class ship) We tried Oasis and would not do any Royal big ships again. X CEO, LLP is trying to.make X more like Royal but thankfully has not yet completed the mission!

If you like Royal Caribbean, you will like Celebrity. They are owned by the same company. I've sailed both as well and like both lines very much. Celebrity is a more high-end cruise line than Royal Caribbean, but both are enjoyable. It's kind of like buying a car: several companies have several different makes of cars, but some are more high end than others. Think of Royal Caribbean as a Toyota, and Celebrity as a Lexus: both great cars, but one is more luxurious than the other.

But she's trying as hard and fast as she can.

OP, I'd say Celebrity is almost the mini-me of Royal Caribbean just without the action and attractions. So you should feel comfortable between the two lines.

Ships are cruising fully booked and there is no reason to "sell" you. If you are truly a gambler you'd make a bet on Celebrity.

I would think the line closes to Celebrity that you have been on is Princess. Did you like Princess?

Geez, people are so literal!

I've sailed on both Carnival and Princess in addition to Celebrity and would pick Celebrity over them both. For us, it's the right combination of moderately upscale, things to do that we're actually interested in rather than a non-stop parade of things that we're not interested in. Biggest thing is that it seems grown up without being boring or stuffy. I don't need loud announcements around the pool about the belly flop contest or the hairiest chest competition...

Carnival seemed a little too basic, and we thought that Princess was a little too stodgy, so Celebrity suits us perfectly.

You didn't ask specifically, but we also like the mega-ship experience on Royal Caribbean (Oasis class).

But truthfully, a week on almost any cruise beats the pants off of any week at work, so there's that....

Have a great trip!

We've been on over 30 cruises on the common major lines. Celebrity is our favorite. Will Carnival disappoint you? While this question is highly subjective, from my point of view - hell yes!
