Driveshaft Posted April 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Did they change to per pay burgers etc or still fee free?
davekathy Posted April 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2018 No charge at the Mast Grill. We did a B2B cruise on the Equinox 24 March and 31 March 2018 and the hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries were good with all the goodies to put on them if you like. Driveshaft Posted April 18, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Thanks Good to know that they are still gratis and still good eating. I love that grille during sea days.

Rare ghstudio Posted April 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2018 It was changed to a fee hamburger place for a very short while last year. They quickly realized that it was a terrible and they changed it back to free hamburgers and hot dogs.
cltnccruisers Posted April 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Tried Mast on Silhouette last month. Quality was about the same as Cookout or Five Guys - which I like but wouldn't go out of my way for.
Muffinz Posted April 18, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2018 We also tried Mast Grill on our recent Solstice cruise and thought it was good

Blockschip Posted April 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Just cruised the Equinox last week. My boys enjoyed the burgers from the Mast Grille. There were no charges for them on their account when checked it before leaving the ship Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare killsport Posted April 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2018 The burgers at mast grill are ok. You can request a cooked-to-order one and wait 10-15 minutes. However, the FRIES ARE AWESOME!!! And yes, I'm the glutton who sometimes just gets a plate of fries.
Rare keesar Posted April 19, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 19, 2018 My burger seemed to lack taste and it looked nothing like what I grill at home. Must be something about throwing a frozen patty on a grill and letting it soak in the pan of oil after cooked, Sandwich was not bad after loading it with grilled onions, bacon, lettuce, tomato and condiments. Better lunch choices available.
TeeRick Posted April 19, 2018 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Tried Mast on Silhouette last month. Quality was about the same as Cookout or Five Guys - which I like but wouldn't go out of my way for. I truly wish the quality and taste of Mast Grill (or Pool Grill) burgers even approached 5-Guys or other decent chains on land. Not even close IMO. kokopelli-az Posted April 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Did they change to per pay burgers etc or still fee free? Just off the Equinox on Sunday. No charge for the hamburgers, hot dogs or fries at the Mast Grill.
Luvcrusn Posted April 19, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Happily, the short lived experiment of changing Mast Grill to a for fee venue on a few ships failed miserably and it's back to what it was before. Free burgers, hot dogs, fries.
gerelmx Posted April 19, 2018 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2018 We was on the Eclipse 03/18/18 The burgers are free, the Celebrity Burger is delicious. My only complaint is no shadows on the tables area.
Driveshaft Posted April 19, 2018 Author #16 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Happily, the short lived experiment of changing Mast Grill to a for fee venue on a few ships failed miserably and it's back to what it was before. Free burgers, hot dogs, fries. I wonder about the charges in the Gastropub too. Haven't seen any posts raving positive or negative on that per pay venue. It's got no real hook like other lines tying to a popular chain or chef.

Not even close IMO. I didn't totally dislike them but they were nothing to get excited about. One major downside, though, was the pool chair hogs doing the same at the starboard side of the grill. That forced us to the port side which was also the smoking area. Disgusting.
Rare Hawkstar33 Posted April 19, 2018 #19 Share Posted April 19, 2018 It's the place on the ship that has the longest line to wait on. So it seems to suit most people.

Not sure about the other S-Class ships, but Solstice has added 3-4 times the number of tables and chairs up there. It was a great addition. Additionally, there was no smoking on the other side -- the Mast Bar which was also a plus.
Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted April 20, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Hard to beat the Five Guys fries. Unless you're allergic to peanuts. Then it's VERY easy to beat them. Especially if you prefer living. :D

Rare keesar Posted April 20, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Unless you're allergic to peanuts. Then it's VERY easy to beat them. Especially if you prefer living. :D My understanding. is that many commercial restaurants like Five Guys and Chick Fil A use REFINED peanut oil for frying which has the peanut proteins removed. On the other hand, you don't want to be snacking on the free peanuts in the shell while waiting for your food to come out.

On the other hand, you don't want to be snacking on the free peanuts in the shell while waiting for your food to come out. Just a FYI. For those (like my DIL and grandkids) with serious peanut allergies, just breathing air in a place that offers free peanuts to it's customers and has peanut oil vapors in the air could be deadly. cltnccruisers Posted April 20, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I've honestly never known anyone with a peanut allergy. I do know a couple of people who think they are allergic to everything. I'm not saying it's not a valid allergy - maybe I'm just a skeptic.
