Caribbean Princess Window Suite

You are giving up your balcony but gaining full suite privileges. Possibly for a lower fare than a Club Class Mini. If you don't mind the location so near the entrance to the theatre those are some of the best cabins on the ship.

Just note that if there are more than two passengers, the third gets the sofa bed, the fourth a rollaway (no uppers as in a quad mini suite).

We love the window suites, and the hallway is private, you just don't get traffic beyond the window suite passengers. We were on the Caribbean Princess in March, in a window suite, and the air conditioning system and/or the room thermostats are not really working. Despite repeated attempts by various maintenance personnel, our thermostat remained unresponsive to our commands and the room temp was frequently much warmer than we preferred. That being said, we will still book a window suite given the opportunity.

Double sinks in the bathroom, whirlpool tub as in the other suites, and when you look out the large picture windows, you are nice and close to the ocean. The location is fantastic as well, in our opinion. Forward elevators right on up to the midship pool and also to the Lotus pool, walk out the private hallway to the atrium on deck 6 to the shops, and mid-ship dining rooms. Easy entry to the Princess theatre.

Looking at booking one of the window suites. What are the positives and negatives. We always have booked a mini-suite in the past

One negative was lack of balcony but as we had the WS on a fall cruise to New England with rather cool weather we did not see that as an issue. Otherwise these are great rooms which can at times be a terrific bargain.

We had one for the first time in April. Other than lack of a balcony, I see no downside. And they can be cheaper than a club class mini--this varies with ship and dates. Oh yeah, your muster drill is in the cigar bar which reeks. They do allow you to sit outside the bar itself, which is a slight improvement.

You get full suite perks. The cabins are all down a private hallway where no one has any business being other than those who are staying there. It is quiet. I did see someone get confused and open the hallway door once, but they promptly closed it. No issues of noise or smoke from outside. Would stay there again with no hesitation.

What cabin did you have? Were all the window suites having ac problems?

Is there any noise from the theatre?

No noise from theatre. We were in F315, and initially it was very hot. We spoke to our steward--no improvement. It took 2-3 days to get an engineer who knew what he was doing (they sent some idiot who dusted the vent covers once!), but when the person who knew what he was doing got involved, it got fixed.

I had a window suite last May on a British Isles cruise. It is very private because there are doors on each end of the small WS section. That means very little foot traffic except for those few cabins. You get Club Class dining which is very close to your cabin area. You also get Sabatini's for breakfast as well as all the full suite perks. You lose the balcony. I didn't miss it on the British cruise. I'm booked again for Caribbean this summer and I will see if I miss the balcony for warner weather climate.

We just had a window suite for the first time last week ... but on the Grand! They are already sold out almost as soon as the itinerary is released so I guess I can tell you this, because the word is already out, it was the most fantastic room of all times. We absolutely loved it and it was actually cheaper than the club class mini-suites. With the 2 large picture windows, the lack of a balcony didn't bother us in the very least. My DH, who wanted a balcony from the get go, said he wanted that room type every time we cruised from here on out.

I used to think the lack of a balcony would bother me but the room is so nice and the location on the ship is absolutely perfect, we'd book one again in a heartbeat ... that is, only when it fits into our budget. And since they are only available on a few of the ships (I think 3), chances are it will be a long time without getting into another one.

Breakfast for us was in the Crown Grill ... we didn't miss one of those. We also usually eat a few of our dinners outside the MDR, but not on this sailing. Full suite benefits ... yes!!! There were a couple of downsides to our cabin, the whirlpool tub was not very clean (the drain plug was all rusty and so didn't want to soak in that after I noticed the rusty rim of foam at the water line) and our bathroom grout needed to be redone ... it looked gross. The couch needed to be replaced very badly...like maybe a few years ago! And, I never saw the butler (maybe we didn't have one)....but we didn't really order anything extra so not sure what we should have expected. We had a light that burned out over our desk area but to be fair, we never reported it so as much our fault as theirs. Plus, the TV reception didn't work so well depending on which was it was pointed. We've sailed on that ship a few times in the past and realize that the issues we had with the cabin are present throughout the ship due to her age. Nevertheless, we were very happy with our cabin and we had an excellent room steward. We like to keep our cabin on the cool side and there was no problem with that. We also are a bit sensitive to the noise and it was pretty quiet for the most part. There was some very short lived noise from the deck above early in the morning, either from joggers or the crew setting up some wooden chairs but then all quiet! There is a ton of storage space, huge windows, the most comfortable beds we've ever had on any cruise and the linens, towels, bathrooms were all of excellent quality! One special touch that you don't even find in all nice hotels was the lighted make-up mirror. But, the best feature is the location on the ship and that club class dining. Our staff was amazing and the extra dishes that were prepared were all winners! Our door was near the forward end and there was no smell of smoke using that entryway ... but we did notice quite a bit of a smokey smell when we came in through the forward entry to our hallway, which was near the casino smoking room. It was all dissipated by the time we got to our cabin door. We definitely felt very spoiled and as mentioned, would book a window suite again given the opportunity.

I've never heard of a butler on Princess. Perhaps you are thinking of Celebrity for that.

I totally agree with you on the couch. The couch was old and well worn and the couch bed was not comfortable. Disney has a much better couch to bed system standard in their cabins! And that was really the only think lacking in the cabin.

But overall, an excellent experience at a good price.

how are the showers in the window suites? we don't book mini's because of the tub/shower combo...

how much larger are the showers than a regular balcony shower?

curtain?

The tub and shower are separate. The shower is larger than those in the balcony cabins, and it has a glass door, not a shower curtain. Very nice actually.

That was our rationale in getting a WS on a British Isles cruise. It was a great decision.

We had one on the CB last year and it was fantastic. We also have one on our upcoming Alaska cruise in the Grand. The window suites are in a private hallway that has doors in a few areas. Easy access to club class dining, disembarkation, Piazza, shops, etc. the double sinks in the bathroom are pretty nice to have instead of that tiny bathroom in most rooms. The big windows are nice to sit by and watch the water when it’s cold outside. We really enjoyed the suite amenities. Same day laundry was one of my favorites. We enjoyed the quiet time in our room since it was so spacious. I really could go on and on. Oh and the shower is a decent size compared to standard rooms.

Will be doing our first WS on the Grand the end of March, 2019, just after its 16 day refurbishment, so hopefully they may do something about the couches and the grout/bathtub! If not, will just ask for a extra sheet to put over the couch and only take showers! I am still excited about doing my first WS. Just wish they had this category on all their ships!

When they first put in the window suites on the ships that have them there was very little demand for them. Thus they were not added to other ships in the fleet.

The reason they can go for less than mini-suites is that lack of demand for an expensive cabin without a balcony.

We liked the window suite and had one booked for a 10-day this October, until an Aft suite came available. Other than a balcony, the biggest difference between this and a regular suite, is there is no curtain to separate the bed from the sofabed area, and only one entrance to the bathroom. If there were only two people in the room, I don't see that as a prolblem just a point for those who may be traveling with more than two in the party. Also, only one TV in the room. There are more pictures in a review we did last year, with a link in our signature if someone wants to see F305. We certainly would stay in a WS again.

Oh my goodness ... that is so funny. No wonder we weren't impressed by our butler service ... we didn't have one!!! I am laughing at myself ... a really hardy laugh at that!!

Thanks.

Thanks.

One sink. Bathroom "storage" is minimal--there is the counter with the sink and three small shelves. It was plenty for toothbrushes, my little makeup/pill/stuff bag, etc. We didn't have any storage issues, but didn't keep much in the bathroom beyond what was needed there. We had 2 toilet paper holders and hanging rods for 4 sets of towels. A magnifying mirror was attached to the wall and could be moved slightly. No tub, as you probably knew, but a large roll in shower with a fold down shower chair and plenty of bars for support. On the Caribbean Princess, the water sometimes missed the drain by the toilet, leaving a small amount of water on the floor. We fixed that by depositing a used towel there. On the Golden, with what looked like an identical set up, we never had water on the floor issues. There were two separate attachment points for the shower head, one of which could be adjusted for the "right" height for the user. It was well done and totally met the needs of the family member who needed it.

The toilet was a little higher than "standard," and again had bars...although the steward tended to hang hand towels on them! There was not the fold down bar that you sometimes see on HA toilets--it was a fixed bar attached to the wall. I've been told that some people in chairs need the fold down bars and some find them a pain depending on their upper body strength and what they need to do to transfer; thus they are out of the way for those who don't need them, but can be engaged for those who do. These fold downs do not exist on any Princess HA bathroom that we've seen.
