Actually when it first occurred, the passengers were given a OBC equal to 1/7 the fare payed.  Then as they got denied to visit ports, they were given a full refund for the other days.  I was amazed that RCCL didn't go the FCC route.

 

Around the same time, another ship had a flu outbreak, where people were confined to their cabin.  Those people were offered nothing.  However some are fighting to get their unlimited drinks packages refunded which I think is a valid expectation.

Both dents will require about a 0.5 mtr x 1.0 mtr patch of the hull, and about 1 mtr of the "bulbed angle" longitudinal stiffener in the area.  However, what I mean is that the dents are not considered to be sufficient (typically very severe bending of the hull plating, or severe deformation of the internal framing) to affect the strength of the hull, so it can be left in place until a convenient time.  Many ships other than cruise ships would leave this dented hull plating for the life of the vessel, and if necessary merely crop and renew the stiffeners to match the new contour of the plating.

So not a big insurance person on my previous cruises and now I am a bit confused on how much insurance would provide in this instance. Insurance covers losses that are not provided otherwise and not a way to profit. That being said, there is  100% compensation for the cruise, you were returned to the port they said you would. If you needed to get a hotel room or had expenses for a hotel room or airline change fees or meals, what would insurance pay for? Trip interruption or delay are only based on your out of pocket expenses due to the delay or interruption.

 

Am I missing something?

There are some policies that will pay you a set amount for each port missed - regardless of financial loss/out of pocket costs. Unfortunately for me, those policies aren't 'valid' for residents of Florida (and various other states). But I've got a friend in Mississippi who gets one every cruise, and has had some excellent payouts based on each member of his family getting paid for each missed port!

Thanks, that makes sense, I guess they have to kind of go out there in no mans land so they aren't in the way of all the other ships that already scheduled to be around the Bahamas today😱🚢

Thought maybe they were heading out on a transatlantic and nobody told them.

We were on the 2/2-2/9 Epic sailing . Feel lucky we didn’t have the issues that happened on the next sailing. But there was a lot of sick passengers on our sailing! Upper respiratory infections...many testing positive for influenza A !

So unless I want to play the miss-a-port slot machine that does not cost me anything out of pocket, I would not be benefited by trip insurance if I would have been on this cruise?

just what the heck do you do when you could easily cover the distance in a couple hours but instead

you putt putt all night in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. I would guess that arriving in

the wee hours of the night is not fashionable when there is no one to tie your ship up and unload

guests and get transportation to who knows where.

I was on a ship positioning cruise a few years back - we left Catalina Island and the next port was

26 miles away across the sea Long Beach - so what did we do we putt putt all night down the

Mexican coast doing nothing turning around and coming back for the morning scheduled arrival.

So you leave Miami Ft Lauderdale or PC and your next stop is at the other end of the ship what do

you do - well killing time is the game - Casino open - Shows on - Restaurants serving - Gift Shops

and Duty Free to browse and snare a buy or simply lounge around grab a drink and enjoy the cruise !

And then that No Room in Inn factor - - - not even a tender.

Last year I was on the Breakaway for a 9-Day Baltic and when the ship was sailing between St. Petersburg and Helsinki and from Stockholm to Copenhagen the ship was moving so slow, what stunk about it was both Helsinki and Stockholm we had to be back on the ship at an early hour.

I was on the previous cruise.  It was just starting to go around.  Not surprised.  That ship is dirty.  I never saw anyone wiping the handrails, elevators, etc.

I guess it depends on if you're a resident of a state that allows missed port coverage. You absolutely could have made some cash on this cruise if you had that type of policy.

Well that's not good news at all, I have been looking at this ship for booking an upcoming cruise .
