Do you call for EVERY price drop?

Not only cruise price drops - but I check booked EXCURSIONS as well, the last two week saw us saving $352 total out of 7 excursions for our upcoming med trip. I cancel, then re-book under the lower prices, and repeat as necessary!

Yes! I saved a ton of money doing that on our last cruise.

I definitely would call!  Good for you.  Meanwhile I just did a mock booking for our Alaska cruise in June 2020 and OV went up by almost $800😱

Our cruise for Spring Break 2020 has gone up $800 just from booking it last month!

That's insane!!  Can't wait to see what it's like this summer.  Thankful to have booked when we did!

If I book myself, I'll call anytime there's a >$50 drop.  If I have a TA, I don't bug her unless it's >$100 or I want to change cabins and then combine the change with the price drop.  The agent can email the booking conformation instantly so you always check it for errors before hanging up the phone with them.

My TA will let me request price checks over email -- which is one of the reasons I work with her. I wouldn't call for anything less than several hundred dollars if it meant the 45 minute hold time RCCI has been running, but if I can fire off an email and have a professional handle it, why not?

Just wanted to add for anyone concerned about their reservation getting messed up by calling for a price drop or any other changes you make, I always ask the phone agent (if they don't already offer) to send me an email showing the updated reservation.  I've never had a problem with the reservation after calling for price drops or to make a change, and I can't even tell you how many times I've done this 🙂

I normally email my TA - so its easier than a phone call.  I always reach out although sometimes I see an email from RCI about a sale and I am too lazy to check if there is an actual price drop.  I hate their site and if there was an easy way to check I would be checking more often.

Yes, but be careful doing this. Basically, they cancel and then re-book, in which case you could end up losing any OBC you may have had. It could wipe out whatever you saved on the reduced price.

I have reservation that is exactly this....gain $300 OBC, pay $300 more for the cruise. I will keep it in my pocket.

I called in today for a $45 price reduction and an additional $25 OBC. This will pay for one of my snorkeling excursions .I always review the new Cruise Receipt while I'm on the phone with the CSR. I've done this several times and CSR never mentions a re-booking only a price reduction...

Never have and never will.  We are extremely frugal, but going after price drops just seems so tacky.  I book when I am satisfied with the price, and then never look it up again.

Call it tacky if you want but I don't like paying more than I need to.  Over the years I've saved thousands on price drops

I haven't had much luck with price drops lately as I book early being a solo cruiser.

However, I would call in for pretty much any amount. The least amount I've called in for was $12 but they realized they forgot to apply my balcony discount, so I actually ended up getting a further reduction.

There is nothing tacky about saving money! 🤣

Yes, I’ve seen it where the savings (or price increase) and OBC cancel each other out.

I called once today and the recording said I had a 13 minute wait time so I hung up, but I did call back a few hours later and got someone right away! Now I’ll put all those savings towards another vacation goodie!

Thanks for for your thoughts everyone!
