Rare John&LaLa Posted August 10, 2019 Author #376 Share Posted August 10, 2019 In search of the elusive ocean view, Part 2. Headed up to FlowRider again hoping to get some better pics. I always walk through Mini Bites. No good views there. 😉 FlowRider was fun. I watched this one lady try to hop on from the top. Good effort. Decided to experiment with my slow motion settings before Lou was up. I think it turned out well.... 20190810_095939.mp4 Let's head down to 5 forward, surely there's some ocean down there. 🤔 Nope, nothing to see here. Nice seating area, though. The running track direction is well marked BTW, the pool windows have a very different tint than most of the older ships. Radiance, Voyager, Freedom, etc...
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 10, 2019 Author #377 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Lots of towels getting some morning sun. Some like the shade. And I even saw someone airing out their bed linens.
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 10, 2019 Author #378 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Some more sports deck photos BTW, I'm currently hanging out in Dazzles by the bar. Electricity and a WiFi antennae 😁 1
Anita Latte Posted August 10, 2019 #379 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Great photos! Love seeing the different places to hang out on board. DH and I are sailing Harmony for the first time in Feb 2020...it's a ways off but we're excited. It'll be our first cruise as a couple. DS heads off to college next month and this Valentine's Day included cruise should be a lovely vacation for us. BTW...I think my response is buried in the Cats discussion. Member123 is my Mom. Her name is Pam. I've been following along partly because of our up and coming cruise and partly because my parents are on this sailing. Fun that you met on board. Please tell her that Anita (her daughter) says hi if you see her again. Say hi to Dad too...his name is David, but he might go by "Dave"...I'm not sure...I call him Dad. LOL.
RoperDK Posted August 10, 2019 #380 Share Posted August 10, 2019 I have a casino question. Don't know if you spend time in there, but if you do, can you get cash downloaded to your slot machine from your onboard account to gamble with? Most importantly, is it "free" or do they charge a 3% fee for the cash? What about the table games? On other cruise lines I am used to getting cash on slot machines without a surcharge, but not so from the tables. I heard that the Harmony was allowing the downloads to slots for free, but that is not our previous experience on Royal. I hate to travel with lots of cash, so that would be great news. Plus, I would get extra credit card hotel points!

The first was Holland America Statendam in 1976. I remember getting a booklet printed with the names and home towns of all the passengers. That'd be quite a hefty book on today's ships! My first cruise was on Home Lines Oceanic in 1981 and we had the book with all passenger names in it too. We paid for our deck chairs for the week, so no matter when we went out to the deck, our lounge chairs were waiting for us. I think it was perhaps $10 or $15 for the week. Everyone dressed up every night for dinner and all meals were at the same table. We were on that cruise in April and it was an Easter cruise. OMG how spoiled were the kids on that cruise? The night clubs had 10PM nightly time for kids under 18 or 21 to leave and many of them who were 16 or so, wouldn't leave so security had to remove them and then their parents were up in arms as they were in suites and felt they "owned the ship." The same kids would order Long Island Iced Tea which, I guess, was something new, although I hadn't heard of it before the cruise. When their parents asked them what they were drinking, they said "iced tea." Cash was king then, no charge cards to pay for things. Before we got off the ship we decided we wanted to do another one, so we got off on Saturday and on Monday I booked us on another cruise for July of that year on another Home Lines ship, the Doric. Oh such great memories!

Rare John&LaLa Posted August 11, 2019 Author #390 Share Posted August 11, 2019 (edited) Forgot to add this to my Dazzles post this afternoon. While I was charging my battery and reflecting on the week, I watched dive show practice. I should have timed this better and been on the port side of the venue. Almost got her off the high dive Edited August 11, 2019 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted August 11, 2019 Author #391 Share Posted August 11, 2019 This video was supposed to go with the one I did for Lou. Much better use of the slow motion feature of my phone. Actually I got lucky. I was betting she'd go down. Loading from top seems a challenge 20190810_095444.mp4 3

Eastern flygirl Posted August 11, 2019 #395 Share Posted August 11, 2019 Hi John, Thank you for the great review and pictures. We live on the Space Coast and are thinking of taking our Prime Cruise on the Harmony. Would you suggest this, or another ship. You didn’t seem too excited about the Oasis class. I have been on the Oasis and agree, the views aren’t that great. How is the Diamond Club without the view? Than you for your help.
