If that were to happen and ships were able to get into port safely on their original scheduled day would they or stick to the changes already made? #JustCurious 😆 I’d say no. They have made their plan and are sticking with it.

orlandok Posted August 30, 2019 #703 Share Posted August 30, 2019 Except for the whole thing spinning back off to sea and never touching land, the eye staying off the east coast is the best case scenario here. The western half of the storm is the weakest. Matthew did that in 2016, the eye just missed the Cape. Not sure what happened to the Port that year but most of Florida was spared.

If it was me, I would stay on till they kicked me off. Lisa heard people complaining about it already this morning. If you have a passport take it will you every time and lock it in your safe. Matthew is the one that flooded a lot of Jacksonville for the first time ever. Our DD and SIL’s beach house had four feet of water standing in it. It did an enormous amount of water damage that was totally unexpected. There’s no possible good scenario.

Agree, while I don't wish any hurricane on anyone I don't want a replay of Matthew, we got hit pretty hard here in SC with the rain and wind. Best case scenario is Dorian curves east before getting close to land which is a possibility although very low at this point.
orlandok Posted August 30, 2019 #707 Share Posted August 30, 2019 Sorry that was a Central Florida centric post. I only remember my personal experience during that storm which was pretty lucky.

Speeds definitely took a hit as would be expected with that many more users. Did they offer free for remainder of cruise or just certain times? It’s been quite a project sinking these huge pillars of steel and concrete to the sea wall.
jagsfan Posted August 30, 2019 #719 Share Posted August 30, 2019 The media here in Jax is predicting astronomically high tides. It was a shock back then to see four blocks of downtown under water along with neighborhoods along the river. We’re really hoping it won’t happen again. Coralc Posted August 30, 2019 #723 Share Posted August 30, 2019 (edited) Well that's a bummer Andrew. Not even an overnight in Cozumel. 2 day visits from 8 AM -6 PM. Fresh water is important after all. I was thinking folks could have dinner onshore. Our friends Tim & Kathy are onboard, and their thinking is similar to yours about dealing with an extended sailing.
