Empress Questions

Considering an Empress Fall cruise. Being the oldest ship in RCLs fleet, a few questions:

 

1. How are the stabilizers? Does the ship rock & roll. Never had trouble on the big newer ships but you never know on an older ship.

2. Outside cabins. Are there any cabins that is a little bigger because of placement on the ship? Also, I assume lower would be better.

3. Diamond Club .... Is there a DC and if not what accommodations are made?

1. Did not experience any more movement than other ships.

3. No DL, 3 nighly drink vouchers to be used at any bar. There's a D and up event on the deck behind Boleros at sail away.

Yes, if you want to minimize motion, go lower and midship.

I had an OV room on Empress, it may have been a few extra square feet at most, but not like the newer classes where the OV's are noticeably bigger. Very similar to the old Sovereign class rooms.

It seems like 7164 and 7664 (and their corresponding cabins on decks 8 and 9) have an alcove with a third bed that makes the cabin a little larger.  They are all outside view.

Sister and brother in law got off the Empress 8 night cruise two weeks ago, there is no diamond club but at the aft of the ship outside they held diamond club events.  I would suggest getting a JS if you can for a larger room, they were very happy with their JS.

We had 8664, great cabin. Sleeping alcove, and an extra window that faces forward

 

Room for 4, but bathroom and closet would be to crowded

 

Nice ledge under window to store stuff

 

View from end of bed toward the alcove

 

View from head of bed toward the other beds

 

Available on 7- 9

8 is probably the best

Desk/vanity is tight

 

Small bathroom typical of other cabins

John, hope 8164 is the mirror image of 8664.  Have that cabin on Empress next July for our New England/Canada cruise

Looks like no second window on the x164 side.  Oh well, we'll have to settle for the extra space and bed.

Are there any outside cabins with a couch/love seat?

Is the library quiet?   I'm super old and I read.  There a rule on many ships that elevator music is played everywhere, always.

No.  Day 1 at Sail away for one hour.  

 

The rest of the cruise you use your 3 diamond drink coupons at any bar or restaurant.  

 

On my cruises the Schooner Bar was the hangout for the nightly Diamond crowd but that was just us making it so, using our drink coupons.  The bartenders took care of us.

It might be wise to look for a room that only holds 2.  I found the fold out extra bunks made the room feel smaller.

I haven't read about drinks at breakfast but there is Champagne and Mimosas at the brunch if you ask for them

Are the OV cabins that are right at the forward part of the ship exactly the same as the other OV cabins or is there any extra space in them?

Top tier event with drinks at 5:00 on first sea day in Boleros. Meal with an officer on last sea day with limited chops menu with wine.
