What a wonderful neighbour you are Cheryl. I'm sure your neighbours will be very grateful for your kindness. Good luck buying what they will need.

My daughter co teaches with a friend who is in the US at the moment, due back on Friday. She will be in the same boat as your neighbours as will be many others. She is married and has a pre-schooler and a ten year old at home.

Haha, they messaged me this morning, I told them to send me a list of what they need. They are the best neighbours, we are lucky where we live.

We haven't had too much of a rush on things up here on the Mid North Coast, the usual toilet paper, tissues and hand wash are out, but I can get most other things.

I am self isolating anyway, I don't work so no need for me to be out there except groceries once a week and I go about 7am.

Hubby works in a business with no public contact now, so staying at home for us, good chance to do some home projects and get that caravan back on the road!!

What a great attitude to have. We will only go out if we need to. I went to the supermarket early this morning just to buy from fruit and veggies. Not a lot to buy. Just as well I didn’t need potatoes. Not a one to be seen.

I have a friend who hasn’t travelled overseas but has decided to self isolate for 14 days due to multiple medical conditions

In the UK I have read that there is an suggestion that those over 70 start to self isolate.

I agree. We're staying home most of the time, only going out to buy groceries and meds.

If it ever stops raining I'll tidy up my vertical garden.

I am going to paint some furniture I have been meaning to do for one of our guest rooms, our garage to tidy up, our fireplace to finish, I just cleaned out the walk in pantry with things out of date.

One of our spare rooms stores all our travel stuff, so a good time to clean all that up and get ready for the next cruise when all this ends, which it will but we just need to be patient, stay home if you can, stay healthy.

Yes for 4 months I read which for many won’t be easy including my husband. I’m not 70 yet but I would stay home if he had to. Although many of us oldies have baby sitting duties, school pick ups etc for our grandchildren. I guess schools will close in the not too distant future but if parents can’t work from home what happens then?  I usually take our elder granddaughter to her swim lessons and to her gymnastics classes after school. They’ll probably be suspended too. So I will ge able to stay at home! 😀

We have decided to self-isolate and only go our every two to three weeks to buy some groceries, or maybe we will order on line for delivery. I expect this to continue for several months, maybe up to six months.

My daughter and her husband have decided to self-isolate their family. My son-in-law has been ill for almost 18months following a tick bite (Lyme-like disease). They have three daughters, the eldest in grade one so it is easy to keep them home.

Voyager of the Seas due back in Sydney from South Pacific on Wednesday morning.  The advice they are getting (not 100% confirmed yet) is that they need to self isolate on their return home dated from their last port which was Mystery Island on the 12th.  So they disembark on the 18th and need to self isolate until the 26th.

Interesting, the rule is for self isolation to start once their travel has finished, i.e once at home. I would think it better that they self isolate from their arrival home, as I doubt they have self isolated from Mystery Island.

Yes, I am thinking of our neighbours coming home from Fiji on the weekend. They fly in, use a shuttle with their friends they are travelling with to pick up their car at Newcastle, drive up the coast, a 3 hr drive, stop for petrol and food.

That is not self isolating on arrival?? Just an aside, how many people touch a petrol pump per day, I don't think they are disinfecting them🤨

We're choosing to stay home, other than when we need to buy fresh food or get meds.

I've have been stocking up my freezer with meals for the past month, and have a sensible supply of tinned and dry goods. Fresh veges, fruit, and some meats that aren't as nice frozen are the only things we need to buy occasionally. I'm experimenting with keeping a supply of onions and root veges in a box in the coolest, driest part of our house.

I have an auto immune issue and am on treatment for it. It's an antimalarial. Hydroxychloroquine. Yesterday it was announced by Brit and Aus treatment centres that this drug and another one is proving 100% effective in the Covid patients they had treated. China has ordered hundreds of thousands of doses of a similar drug from India. I'm thinking, that might mean I may not get it?

It might be worth talking to your GP and/or regular pharmacy ASAP to see if you can get extra supplies. Fingers crossed for you. 😘

Totally Agree. Thankyou. 🥰I'm getting a bit antsy to be honest. It's been the one drug that has really helped me and settled my whacky immune system. But once this gets traction then who knows! It's only currently used for Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and the like so not exactly in huge production. It is cheapish though which is good as long as manufacture keeps pace. It better not get like the toilet paper issue.

It's not just toilet paper now. When we went shopping on Sunday the fresh meat section of Woolies was half empty including completely out of chicken and eggs. Our local community FB page posted a photo of our Coles this morning where the fresh meat section was completely bare. People are going crazy!

I'm finding shelves are not being fully re-stocked, so when you get there on opening, there may be six of something whereas before the shelf would have been full of the product.  I imaging within an hour of opening many shelves would be bare.  I saw no evidence of people going crazy at Woolworths at 7 am nor Aldi at 8.30, opening times.

The 14 day self isolation requirement also applies to NZ .As of tonight 3 tourists have not complied . 2 have been arrested and placed in enforced quarantine and will be deported in 14 days . The third was escorted to the airport and presumably deported .
Backpackers and tourists renting camper vans or rental cars are finding it very difficult.

It probably depends on when their deliveries arrive too.
