I moved to LI in 2003 .I wasn’t driving anywhere in 1958 .I assume that there were no towns allowing turning on red at that time.

From the police officer’s attitude, I’d say you are right.

It has been a long but lovely day around the English Lake District today.

We had lunch at the Bellsfield hotel in Bowness then had a good walk around the lake.

Afterwards we walked around the lovely Grasmere village where Wordsworth lived.

Today it was sunny with a high of 85°F.

I hope everyone had a nice day too.

Our summer of fun with grandkids continued today with a trip to Apple Castle. Today’s activities included picking blueberries, and they had other things for kids to do.

A play fort

Sounds like a bountiful garden.  Do you ever pickle your cucumbers?  My mom used to make the best sour pickles using small kirby cucumbers placing the jars on our kitchen window sill.

Homemade pickles are the best. Yum.

I had a great day yesterday,  one of my ex colleagues hosted a get together for past and present staff of the airline I worked for the last 17 years. It was lovely to see everyone again and reminisce and catch up.

Dinner was an Indian buffet,  and I made aloo  gobi as my contribution, a mild vegetable curry, plus a lemon drizzle cake

It is. No wind and warm. A bit of dew. About to start the last inning.

@island lady Thank you so much.  We have only been to Falmouth twice and the port wasn't finished the first time around.

Graham, it looks so picturesque!  As always lunch looks good!  I'm surprised Pauline got so close to the swan.  Here the swans are what you might call grouchy.  No chance of me getting near one.

You are most welcome!  With Covid changing so many things...I hope that little touring company survived.  I would do the tour again...it was really fun.  🙂

My brother-in-law and wife likes to scuba dive so each summer they pick a place to vacation for a month. 3 years ago they spent a month in Belize.  They had a great time.  It’s a bit different finding what to at a place you stop at for a short day compared to a month. The way I understand they stay at these places for a month because you are limited on how much you should scuba dive.  They will scuba dive for awhile and then explore the area they are staying.  They started a YouTube channel showing different places.  He’s a history teacher so he loves exploring historical places.

One of our very good friends loves Belize...and almost bought property down there.  Obviously you are right, and I agree,  would need to get away from the tourist traps and day visits...but that is what we have when we visit by ship.

We snorkel, not scuba.  Our "disaster" tour was a snorkel tour that went wrong in so many ways down there.  The other times, we just toured the town and had lunch...also was not fun.  Not worth it IMHO...with that long tender ride in to not really enjoy our visit.  I am sure others adore it...just did not fit us at all.

It is simply a one day stop, that we won't leave the ship from now on.  All other stops, no matter how often we have been there...we get off the ship.

He was good enough to make it to Junior Amateurs at Muirfield Village.  That is a beautiful course.

I love Muirfield Village.  I get club house passes every year to The Memorial so I know the place well, but I've never played the course.  Golf Digest has it as the 15th best course in the country.  I think that may even improve after the recent changes that Jack made.  I envy your son being able to play there.
