I may need to try the classic Old Fashioned recipe with a sugar cube as a base for comparison.

That is how I started making my old fashioned by muddling a sugar cube with bitters. I started tinkering with the recipe with different things and finally came up with the Amaro combination for Sea Dog's Old Fashioned.

After a couple days of the old song “who’ll stop the rain” playing in my head, the rain stopped and the sun came out today.   We had some flooding and high water in our area.

This was just one of the signs.

We decided to go boating today, and managed to find one launch ramp open.  We had so much rain, it raised the lake level by 8 feet.  If you have your boat docked, you have about a 200 foot swim from the new shoreline to the docks.

But it was nice to see the sun, and grandson enjoyed lounging on the tube with his grandma.

We did a short trail hike down past the dam

And it looked like they were trying to lower the lake level.

Found this guy laying in the sun.

So sorry for your loss.

Congratulations on your son's upcoming wedding.  I hope you're all over the moon with excitement.

Thank you for your condolences and congratulations.

Excitement is building here 🙂

The wedding should of been last year but was delayed because of covid.  My DIL (to be) is a teacher and very organised and has done most of the arrangements herself. Her mum lives abroad and as its a country on our covid red list she had to isolate at her own cost in a approved airport Hotel for 10 days, but she's  here now so all is good.

Our final restrictions ends tomorrow in UK  so we hopefull it's going to be  everything we want it to be , though still waiting to hear from the vicar if singing in church is allowed and if masks are required, and from the reception venue if dancing is allowed .

🤞

Beautiful day in Minneapolis. Don't know what the temp was but there was a slight breeze for our picnic. Then meandered around Minneapolis/St. Paul and area for a few hours. Delightful.

Homemade sausage rolls for sandwiches, veggies, fruit for dessert. Sorry, pic is sideways.20210718_143440.thumb.jpg.2be2ec5a943e2c64913b717112de1e99.jpg

🤞 Indeed.

I find it so sad that, instead of looking forward with joy and expectations to one of the happiest moments in your life, you're waiting, with some stress and trepidation, to hear what restrictions will be imposed upon....

Hopefully, it will all be a "smooth sailing" along the aisle, with songs and dance 💕

I'm quietly confident everything will be as they want it to be 💕

They have a choir and if we can't sing out loud I'll just hum to myself and sing in my head 🎶

I have my dance songs requests all planned 😊

It will be a superb day whatever happens

We will be going to Costco which is nothing of interest. The garden sounds lovely.

The afternoon in the garden sounds lovely.  A trip to Costco though is more like a contest.  Two of my favourite versions; can you get everything without a cart or, can get get out with a bill under $100.  Rarely win either, but upon occasion it is the second option.

I called at the bank everyone wore masks.

I called in a post office/convenience store and only 1 person wasn't wearing a mask.

Pauline went into Morrison's supermarket and all the customers were wearing masks.

Social distancing has gone but if everyone wears a mask while walking around indoors it will protect everyone.

Good morning Graham. That sounds like a nice day. We will be going to Costco which is nothing of interest. The garden sounds lovely.

The gardening company have just been and sprinkled fertilizer granules and a spray on our lawn's so I will be staying on the patio.

There is no rain forecast for several days so I will set the water hose up and spray water on the lawns later this afternoon.

It seems like you folks are about three months, or so, behind us. There is very little masking in NEW England these days.

It seems like getting married and cruising are subject to the same perils.

Good to hear Graham.

My version of our first day with no restrictions:

In the gym first thing,  normally have to wear masks walking around inside the building but not when working out, today half were wearing masks and half not. My PT didn't wear her mask

Later in the hairdressers, some as when we had restrictions. Temperature checks and masks for everyone.

Didn't go shopping, but from what I could see people were putting masks on to go into shops

Its our first day without any restrictions today but our rates are through the roof because of the delta variant.  We are back up to January levels with 50,000 plus a day.  Thankfully because of our very high rate of vaccinated population the death rates and hospitalization are fairly low . But the 'experts ' are predicting soaring rates in the 100,000s because of lifting of restrictions

Because its so wide spread I shall continue wearing masks indoors for the moment .

Mainly I'm worried about getting 'pinged' by track and trace and told to self isolate because of contact with a covid carrier and miss our family wedding.  Because of this my husband and I will restrict our socialising from next Friday

Strange day yesterday at the memorial for my wife's uncle she met her new cousin , because of DNA test we discovered she had a couple of new cousins , nobody had know he uncle had a child before he was married so he showed and met his two brothers all in late 50's.  I found no new cousins in my DNA tests. Today we visit graves of her sister and uncle who passed last year.

You have to be extremely focused to get out of there with a bill under $ 100. The only way you even have a chance is DO NOT get a cart !

Believe it or not, I once exited Costco after buying only 1 item. I had to get my daughter contact lenses and rushed in the store with my head down, walking quickly to the optical counter.  My husband was amazed, actually speechless when I got home!

LOL  Not impressed, Optical counter is about 50 ft on the left as you enter our Costco..........Tell me if you can do that going to the back of the store where the Bakery and Meat Counter is?

Not as easy as you think.  As you enter, you see a lot of displays before you get to the vision counter.  AND the fact that I was IN Costco should have been enough temptation.  I doubt I would have stopped to pick up anything else no matter where the vision counter was located.  I was goal driven to only get that one item.

I went into Kroger yesterday and only bought milk.  1 item but I admit not as tempting as Costco.
