Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

I woke up this morning, and saw the ship was circling off the coast of Nassau.  Marine traffic  showed 2 Celebrity ships in port, and a HAL and Carnival on their way in.

A little after 7, the captain announced there winds over 35, and we will be skipping Nassau and have a sea day as we make our way to St Thomas.

Looked for you at the pub last night on our way to dinner around 5, but didn’t see you.

I like Nassau. I would have found that a bit disappointing. Maybe the other ships got in before the wind picked up or there was less maneuverability with the other ship already in port?

@bobmacliberty

I have been enjoying the car photos you have posted.

I did notice some fine Mustangs- my personal favorites. Also, there was a photo of a GTO. My college boyfriend drove a Catalina convertible, but he really wanted a GTO.

My DH and I have attended the Barrett Jackson auctions at Foxwoods in Connecticut. Lots of beautiful cars there !

I too have been enjoying them. We went to the BJ auction at West Palm well before Owen was born.

Now I want to know why Royal didn’t send me an email with a special birthday code, to save on a cruise?   Don’t they care about me?

Don't worry. The code probably increases all the pricing by 10%.

He has to pay to watch TV in the hospital? :classic_dry: I have never heard of such a thing!

I was hospitalized for 3 days last week for a foot problem and not only was there free TV in the rooms for admitted patients, just about all of the Emergency Room cubicles have a TV also. Free phones were in the rooms too.

I wonder if she's the reason they have the "no hangers" stickers on the ceiling next to the sprinkler heads these days?  LOL
Nice thing about my hooks is I can position them anywhere I want... along the edges of the room, or by the air vent or my little desk fan.

I do believe that was about the time they started putting up those stickers.

We have those "Magnet Hooks". I can't believe the strength of them.

Sunny and warm here today, almost 60F. The snow is melting and it looks great.

Owen’s team won last night, 6 to 3. It started slow but ended the right way IMO. Owen had 2 penalties, doubling his status for the year in that column. He’s now up to 6. LOL. A season high. He also got a couple assists.  The only unfortunate thing, it took 6 hours from leaving home to getting back for a game that lasts just over an hour.

Owen in the box.

Happy players coming off the ice. Owen is always the last one off.

Andrew-

Those BJ auctions are fun. We usually have seats where we see the cars come down the stage and turn. We also check out the cars displayed outside. Just looking- no buying

.But, if I had won big at roulette n the casino, there might have been a different story.

We also  enjoy  local car shows. Just before Covid, we went to an all Mustang show- lots of Shelby models and ,of course, Mustangs from the 1960s.

We haven’t been to any shows for two years. Maybe this Summer🤞.

The two little old ladies who blew up two Russian passenger planes prior to 9/11 didn’t look like terrorists, either.
They were each just little old grandmothers with radios in their checked luggage.
I think about them every time I get irritated about security.
In Calgary, I was pulled aside and my daughter didn’t realize it and kept going.
She panicked thinking I fell over dead along the way.
When we found each other and she asked what happened, I told her had an opportunity to have a foot massage and took it.
She chewed me out and I had a hard time convincing her I had no choice.

When going thru security at the airport in Israel, we usually are asked many, many questions; who packed, did anyone give you anything to take with you, etc.  At one point the security agent asked me if I knew why she was asking these questions.  I responded "yes I do and thank you for asking to keep us all safe".

Whoa! They charge for tv?

They did  that here many years ago, but I guess somebody decided the astronomical charges for hospital stays should include free tv.
No charge for tv or phone, and there are ports built into the beds to charge your cell or other electronics.
No charge for parking at any of our local hospitals.
Now if they’d work in the food  in the one closest to me…

One thing I will say about a local hospital near me, Doylestown Hospital, is they have great food for patients and their cafeteria.     Whenever my Father was in the hospital they would offer my Mom one free meal per day as she would sit with him for most of the day.    She loved their meatloaf and potatoes (and she was picky about her meatloaf).

Good Sunday morning.  It is 74°, but windy in Nassau today.

Not a sunrise photo, but this will have to do this morning.

Found out that one of our table mates last night, shares a birthday with me today.  I didn’t feel old until I saw the number on a card I got before we left home.

Anyhow, I was having a discussion with Susan about age.  I told her my scale was young 0-35; middle age 35-70; and old 70-105.  Of course I break down old into subcategories of young, mid, and old.  At least that works for me.

So now that I am young old, Social Security is giving me a 400% raise.

When Susan asked what we would do with the extra, I voted for a cruise a month.  😀

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!     Wishes for many more birthdays while cruising.    Enjoy🤩

@Ozark_KidHey John,   I received my inflatable pool noodles yesterday.    We just tried to blow one up and OMG it was taking forever.     Have you or anyone else ever used these portable air pumps such as this one

https://www.flextailgear.com/products/tiny-pump-x

I see several different kinds on amazon.     Any suggestions are welcome.

The aqua safes were out of stock so I ended up buying one of these on amazon.

Portable Masterlock safe 5900d

I can fit my phone, camera and small wallet.      Eric may have to get his own😁

I went from middle aged to old old almost overnight!
If memory serves.

Just to add to the hospital talk, being charged for phone or TV depends on the hospital. Some range from barely above third world status to almost resort like. The most recent hospital I was at recently had room eqippied with 47 inch smart TV with HBO, NetFlix, YouTube for free. It was also came pre-loaded with a bunch of health, nutrition, exercise and mediation videos.

Even each ER room came with a "small" 27 inch TV set.

The head waiter said 4200 passengers this cruise, over 4600 next cruise.  Lots of kids.  We saw a lot more kids than we would have expected on our February cruise,   but they no problem.

Not like the little monsters who think it is funny to press all of the elevator buttons.

I am getting my first Social Security check this month on my birthday!  Sharon and I were talking about getting away more.  Not necessarily all cruises but probably more cruising.  We are looking for something to do at the end of the month.  With a grandbaby on the way, we will probably stick close by starting and through the summer. When I talk to others about SS starting I mention it means I will be limited to an additional 8 more cruises per year.  😂

I tend to think players who end up getting penalties are just playing hard. Nothing wrong with that.

We only went on two cruises when we were working .After we both retired we began cruising on the average 3 a year.

We did a lot of non cruise vacations during our working years .
