In all honesty, there is no good reason to ever drive in or out of Manhattan. None.  There isn't anywhere you can't get to that isn't accessible by subway, commuter rail, or bus. The whole island should be turned into one gigantic pedestrian mall with the only vehicles allowed being taxi, Uber and delivery trucks.

I am amazed that Lenny has never driven off of Long Island. Although driving in and out of Long Island (technically Queens and Brooklyn but same thing) is only slightly less aggravating than driving in Manhattan.  Every time I'm stuck on the Throgs Neck Bridge on the way to Jones or Robert Moses beach, I tell myself there has to be a better way.

I so love all the NYC references.

Having lived in Manhattan until I got married, I remember only one person who had a car.  As you stated, we had subways, buses and trains.  Also, the Red and Tan bus line to the Catskills!

@aussielozzie18Good luck with your surgery and heal fast.

I had two friends who had cars but even they took public transportation most of the time.My parents never owned a car, neither did Toby’s.The only reason that we bought a car in 1972 was to travel .

When I was younger I took Shortline buses to the Catskills.

How awful!!!

What was so weird was the service  guy came with a sales rep. Constant upselling.

What they didn't know was John has spent about 20 years "fixing things." He found the part needed and can put it in himself.

Now we're getting email after email letting us know what people in our neighborhood are getting done. Just in case, you know.

So this cute little kitty is on my lap tonight and starts kneading and those little claws of hers were seriously hurting. So tonight she got her first nail clipping. She didn't much like it and I was concerned it would set our progress back but after running away for a couple of minutes she was right back on my lap. And now those little needle claws don't hurt.🙂

Kudos for you for even trying. We've tried to cut out cat's nails and he won't have it. So, we end up taking him to our vet. I don't know how he does it but he is able with the help of his tech to hold him in a way that he freezes and the vet cuts his nails very easily.

We cut all 3 of our cats nails. We found that if you gently rub/play with their paws they get used to them being handled and cut.

My previous cat that I lost last year would let me cut her claws but the vet didn't stand a chance.

I only clip the cat's nails that have grown long.  Mainly on the older cats who don't go out and scratch on the big wooden playscape my husband built for them.  Inside I have strategically placed scratching opportunities.  None of the cats are a problem but the English Bulldog has to go to the vet's office for nail trims.  She hates having her feet touched even though I played with them when she was little.  The vet techs very good at it and she will let them get most of her toes done.

After following along on John’s gastronomic adventure, I was intrigued by the app that gave some data linked to his scale.

I don’t think I had ever heard of a metabolic age (MA), so I had to do a little research.  I found an online calculator that will tell you what yours is, so I had to run it to see what it came up with for me, and also for Susan.

So it tells me that my MA is 14 years younger than my actual age, and that Susan has an MA that is 20 years younger than her actual age.

I don’t know what the significance of this is, if any, because it only considers age, gender, height, weight, and percent body fat.

All I know is that appears our age spread is getting larger.

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

It is a hot one here woke up to an outside temp of 72 at 6am.

Inside temp comfortable 66 degrees, with air conditioner.

We too replaced our AC 2 years ago and we upgraded in case we do an addition of a Florida room.

It was around $6200.  If you PIF you got 10% off.

Yesterday had my second booster

Woke up with a mild headache, arm sore if I lay on it and a tad achy.

Not walking outside this morning  because of the heat, but will tonight with the spouse.

Just got done watching one tvathon series, two seasons of "The Wilds" really enjoyed it.

Now we just finished season one of "Homecoming", Julia Roberts is in it, and actually it is turning out better than I expected.

We did our online Checkin for our August cruise.  When I look at the site that tells cabins available I think we are going to sail with a completely full cruise.

We cancelled our drink package.

With being D+ and signature in Casino, and going to suite lounge, we can still if we want consume mass quantities of potent potables.

Ok

Take care.

Catch you later

@Sunshine3601I thought of you this morning when we were heading to the hospital for my MRI's.  How is the smoke situation there?  It was really heavy here in our town,  but not quite as bad in Manahawkin.  It was still pretty smoky when we got home around 12:00

Have a great Birthday Dinner, Deb!🌹

Thank you.   I had a wonderful day, except not enough Sunshine.

My Brother and SIL went golfing Monday morning somewhere in Egg Harbor and said the smoke was bad on their way down Rte 9 but no problem at golf course.     After they returned I noticed his car had a light coating of soot so he rinsed it off.      Has not been smoky on the island.         Sounds like they have the fire under control now but burned something like 13,000 acres.     Poor animals, critters living in the pinies.

Pictures Please .

I'm sorry we did not take pictures of our dinner at Howard's (I'm bad with food porn).     They make the best french fried lobster anywhere.     I had 2 pieces left and had them for breakfast with eggs, bacon and half a buttery croissant.     I brought home a piece of key lime pie and will enjoy for lunch today😃

Then we went to Surf Flight Theater and saw a really fun musical comedy of The Addams Family.    It was their opening night of the show and we were all very impressed with the talent for a small shore town theater.

Sad to say this morning is gloomy.     Todd and Linda went golfing at LBI National golf court in Little Egg Harbor.      Expecting rain later today so I will be heading out for a bike ride soon.

Thank you Everyone for all the Birthday wishes🥰    It is so nice to be part of this wonderful online family💓

I have cut just about all of my cats nails.    I start doing when young and most of them were just fine with me doing it throughout their lives.     But Sparky (who I got from Shelter when he was about 1.5 yrs old) wants nothing to do with anyone cutting his claws.   He fights, squirms, hisses if anyone tries to cut them - including the Vet.   He is a very muscular cat and can really give you a strong push or kick when squirming so we gave up trying to cut his nails.

Sounds like the Wohlfahrthaus Theater in Wytheville, VA  which is  about 15 miles away from us. We have been to a few shows since we have been here in VA.

Very talented.

We just finished The First Lady on showtime we both thought it was interesting. Someone mentioned Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix, I am almost done with that .

Hey, Birthday girl!  Thank you for the info on the Surflight Theatre.  There are a couple of the plays that Jim and I are interested in.  Do you know how far in advance you must order the tickets?  I printed a copy of all of the plays.

It sure sounds like you had an awesome Birthday.  I love having left-overs, and having fried lobster for breakfast sounds devine!

Enjoy your day...hopefully after today, the sun will shine for the remainder of your stay in LBI!💕

I know that some shows sell out during the busy summer months, last night the theater was only half full since it was a Tuesday night and island is not busy this week.       If you know what shows and dates you want I would recommend buying them online as soon as you can.

They will either mail you the tickets or you can pick them up at their box office window when arrive on show day (that is what we did).

The showplace ice cream parlor next door does some nice song and dance routines too

Oh I loved having left over lobster for breakfast, so good!
