There is a ComicCon event in Lucca this weekend and they are prepping for a big crowd.  It is the only ComicCon in Italy and only the second one in all of Europe.

We will be returning this rental car so we can go onto our next destination.  This has been a cute little fun car to drive for DH.  It’s a Fiat 500.  It is a stick shift and reminds him of his Mini Cooper which he misses a lot.

We cross the Arno River to get to the airport car rental place.

Folks in the US may be familiar with the Neptune Society. I have nothing but great and wonderful things to say about their services! 😃 They took care of everything and took care of mailing mom.

I had not heard of them. It appears they have one place that services the SE portion of our state.

I do not know that I would trust the US mail though.  We are still waiting for them to find our lost wedding photos.  I mean, they have had 42 years to find them.  I am not holing out much hope.

Andrew's THIRD pediatrician just retired. All three of them have retired in the last few years. When each one quit, we switched to another in the same practice, but then those retired, too.  I think there is one left from the original partners. I guess he will have to switch to her, and hopefully she will last until he graduates from pediatrics.

Must be harder on kids.  Hope this one lasts.

This is why I love family nedicine. The kids I've taken care of don't outgrow me. I never understood the concept of developing a relationship with a physician and then kicking the patient out of the practice at 16 or 18 years old. I take care of adults that I've taken care of since the day they were born and I take care of their kids as well as their grandparents.

I guess this retirement and SS discussion made me a bit reflective.

I'm not sure that is the cruising equivalent of the land of the midnight sun.

Great minds and all.  I was just going to post the land of the midnight sun.  You beat me to it.

Plus, I didn’t know drinking had a season.

The last stop of our Tuscan Holiday Adventure- Follonica, at the Sense Experience Resort.  It is beautiful out here but in fact, it will actually close for the season November 1, right after we leave.

Interesting story about mom. She passed away on a trip and vacation in a hospital that was about 5 hours from where we live. We went up to say goodbye (she was unconscious) before she passed away. Folks in the US may be familiar with the Neptune Society. I have nothing but great and wonderful things to say about their services! 😃 They took care of everything and took care of mailing mom.

I told our outstanding mail carrier that we were expecting mail delivery of my mom. (She had a tracking number) And he waited until we were home from work, so that he could deliver her in person and express his personal condolences. I guess I was thinking about her, because her birthday was Oct. 24th. ☺️

For your mam's belated heavenly birthday.

Yes. Mom was out of the house for almost year. Poor mom, she was on the other side of island counter in the kitchen when the trees came down in a windstorm. (2011) New roof, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, living room, and new floors because it pushed the kitchen appliances down in the basement.

We were fortunate, there was a company doing salvage logging after the storm, and they just plucked the tree out of the house. (No Charge) There were 9 or so trees down in her cul-de-sac. It was a huge tree, you can see that the top of the one that hit the house, went all the way out to the street.

It looks fine now; I will post a photo or two. But it was a long process. Thanks. ☺️

Mom's House 12-3-2011 024.JPG

The house we had in NJ that we sold had a whole hedge row of large pine trees on the border between my neighbors house and ours and after every storm with heavy winds parts of the trees would break off. Neighbor and I decided which every side they break off on that is the personthat cleans them up.

They were in a place no matter if the whole tree came down none would each either of our houses but it was still a pain cleaning them up all the time.

The trees must have been  4 ft wide at the trunks and probably 225ft tall.........when branches broke off of them it was like whole trees had fallen, and the noise they made was a loud cracking sound like firecrackers going off,

You can see in this picture(upper left hand corner) where branches have snapped off. Trees looked terrible, can't imagine what they look like now almost 2 years later. Just glad it isn't our headache anymore. 🙂

To the right is the rows of Pine Trees

20201102_062535.jpg

These pieces are just from the branches breaking off the main trunks, if the main trunks would came down I would have needed to hire someone to cut up those large logs. My  chain saw would have never been large enough to work.

One last comment. It is funny on the news reports, when they show trees hitting houses from the outside. The amount of devastation inside, is what is incredible! ☺️And just to make it cruise related. We were supposed to sail on Voyager out of NOLA in 10 days for pre-Christmas. She called me up that day to cancel, because her cat was sick. 😒 I was really mad at her. But then the tree fell on her house the same day and rendered dwelling uninhabitable, so she was able to have full recovery with travel insurance.

She called me and said, "A bad thing happened". I went up for a week, to take care of things and filed her claim ..with photos! ☺️

So glad she was not hurt.

Thank you, Graham. It was quite some time ago, (3 years) and she was almost 90. Her family is just me, alone. And I don't quite have the memorials that you do for your parents. I think it is lovely how you remember them. ☺️

Mom is in a box in the garage. Along with the boxes of ashes of her 8 cats. Her request was to be distributed with them. Which we will do, when Bobby finally moves on. I sincerely appreciate your condolences. ☺️

My mom wanted to be buried with her cats that had passed before her. We call the funeral director and asked if we could do it and he wouldn't say yes or no, only that we would have time alone with her. We quickly placed 8 urns of ashes beside her along with pictures of her cats and grandchildren.

My husband and I have decided to be cremated so one of will be in a box waiting for the other. Our kids know to mix some ashes of our dogs to ours and spread the ashes at sea.

Is it by any chance a Samsung?  It’s a common problem with them, ours is only 2 years old and we’ve had to reset it twice.  I hope his repair works!

Perfect solution.  I want to be cremated and spread over our property.

I don’t know of any other 10 year olds that know the lyrics to so many Elvis songs.  It seems his favorite is Burning Love.  🤣🤣

Lord Almighty, Feel  my temperature rising!
