On Saturday I started feeling a little tired and blah. I figured things were catching up to me. The next day was the same, but I thought some fresh air would be good. We walked around Isafjordur and went to a beer brewing place for a beer. It’s right by the port. This is the day everyone was bundled up except me. I should have known something wasn’t right. After getting back to the ship I really felt bad. I’ve been holed up in the cabin since then and haven’t left. Taking cold meds which have helped me feel a little better, but still feel like crap. Hopefully tomorrow I will start improving. I’m going absolutely stir crazy since I didn’t bring anything with me to do. I can only read so much and play so many puzzles. Thanks, it does suck. As much as I would love to be in my bed and with my kitties while I’m sick, it’s nice to see the ocean and have the rocking of the ship. Thanks. So sorry you’re sick. The worst is being sick on the ship and missing out on all the fun. Hoping you’re out of your cabin soon. We are going to Greenland next September. Good to know about coats and not just a jacket. I’m hoping the scenery will be worth the cold because I don’t tolerate it well.

FromSea2ShiningSea Posted September 7, 2023 #102630 Share Posted September 7, 2023 I am so far behind I just can’t keep up. Yesterday was Qaqortoq, Greenland . It is a very small town with population of about 3,500. You definitely don’t need @Jimbo to book any excursions. It is very easy to walk around town on your own. It was cold about 40 degrees so layering is wise. You get a great view as you walk up the road See that tiny black marker on the top the mountain on the right? We walked along the road that lead to it. As we got close to it, it looked kind of steep ti me to get to the top so I waited while M went up. It took about 8 minutes and he made it to the top. The view from up there He came down and this was where we met Mike and we took the road back down to town. Renee @ReneeFLL was still not up to being out so we missed her. Rare ReneeFLL Posted September 7, 2023 #102633 Share Posted September 7, 2023 @Jimbo This is what one person said. ”We did it. We had a 64 YO man as our very informative tour guide. He had lived in Qaqortoq almost all of his life and knew three languages - his native language, Danish, and English. He talked to the group as we walked about schools, police, fire, his life growing up and where he attended church. He gave some insight about fishing and how a trout “farm” did not survive in the area. He talked about how the locals used to live on the side of Qaqortoq that had the old church and the hospital, and the folks from Denmark who opted to migrate there lived on the other side. He explained that folks from other countries came to the village for work. We found it very informative and an awesome experience to talk with a local. The walk itself was not long, but the tour guide was very happy to answer all questions and thoroughly enjoyed speaking with us. During the tourist season he did these tours and in the winter, he talked about his artwork (he carved in juniper wood).” 2

We were able to get into the place yesterday for the first time. It’s tiny. It’s about the size of an owners suite with a bedroom that’s 10 x10. I told the DH we’re going to have pretend we’re cruising the weeks we are there except I’m the steward and chef. At least it won’t take much time to clean. This is temporary while we see if we want to move to the area permanently in a few years. We drove back to Texas today and I miss the littles already so I think it was a good decision. We don’t want to be in the way but I do love the hugs and kisses and they are growing so fast! It sounds like you've done the right thing! Good attitude about the size of your rental. You'll be spending so much more time with your grandchildren. I used to cry when we'd leave Massachusetts when our oldest grandchild was a baby. She's now 21 and working as an ER Nurse! The youngest of our grandchildren is 12. We all ask "where did the time go?". Enjoy your grandchildren to the fullest!! 15 hours ago, dbancroft said: So while recovering from my 3rd moh's surgery yesterday I booked two cruises. It was nice to see some old friends I haven't seen in years. We all agreed to stay in touch instead of meeting up at these type of gatherings.
