Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Sea day today, the weather is perfect once again. I typed out a whole long post with pictures but it went poof, so I’ll wait until tomorrow to try again.
@helen haywood I finally visited the internet desk. Turns out it’s not a setting on my phone that prevents access to these boards, you need Premium WiFi. So right now I’m using some of my 90 minutes of Premium which is one of the Elite benefits.

We're trying to get a few trips out on the River before she gets laid up for the winter.  For one reason or another we haven't been out as much as we should this year. IMG-20231002-WA0006.thumb.jpg.180d4660bc53cf5b6fab2ad8c17c5259.jpg

Out with my brothers and partners last weekend. Stopped in Windsor for a picnic lunch and then on a bit further where the river runs alongside Windsor Great Park.

Lovely day out on the water and I like your style - up the front of the boat with a glass of champagne in lovely pink jumper.

We have a fish pond in our garden with 6 fish, some of which came from my mums fishpond when she went into a care home in 2016.   As it gets colder they spend more time at the bottom of the pond and are difficult to spot. But they are definitely disappearing and we were down to two

Then Gary spotted this on our fence , the culprit even though I have netting over the pond.

IMG-20231002-WA0010.thumb.jpg.1936ce30fb81ecfeb2f0a3979968e966.jpg

Thought I had lost the last two, but yesterday I spotted them amongst the pond plants

I love your visitor even though he is snacking on your fish.  Is there a way to move him on?

My friend has a pond in her garden.  Last week her neighbour knocked on her door and ever so politely requested that they do something about the frog that was croaking loudly and keeping her awake at night.  My friend’s husband was given the job of finding and re locating the male frog.  It’s been very peaceful ever since.

Dad has been enjoying the fruits of his garden.  A punnet of strawberries a day and first ever paw paws.

Your Dad is quite the gardener.   I love enjoying fresh picked fruits and vegetables from a home garden.

I was disappointed in my garden this year.  Didn't produce as much as past years.   Weather here was a mix of lots of rain and a lot of very hot humid days.

My mum use to have a fake heron statue she said kept real ones away. I've secured the netting more tightly over the pond with some heavy weights to stop the heron getting her beak under. Hope it works

Last night I called club royale, casino number, to cancel our Jan 18th sailing on Anthem.   This is one during Yeshiva week.  😓

The first rep I had was telling me wrong info and when I asked for him to double check with his boss the call dropped.

This was good as I called right back and get a rep that knew their stuff.

Since that sailing was a casino offer that we upgraded to a JS we will get full refund for the upgrade fee.

I then booked a sailing for March 3rd with new offer for free balcony.

I am sad we are not doing the 11 night itinerary but will be happy to board Anthem before it leaves for Asia sailings, I think out of Singapore.

I was wondering what you had decided for the Jan sailing. Good that you got the second rep. who knew their stuff.

Frustrating when the weather doesn’t co-operate.  Hope next season’s crop is better.

I forgot about Yeshiva week.  We have an 11 night out of Miami in 2025 about that time on Explorer.

I stayed on board when we docked at Costa Maya in Feb.  My friend used the tram from the ship to the port but it wasn't there to get her back to the ship.  She said she didn't think she would make it.  I didn't want to take that chance.

Wonderful!  What a beautiful surprise.

BTW, Jack is here in the USA for over 50 years and he is still considered an Israeli, a term he wears with pride.

How you and DH feeling?

Thanks for that info on Costa Maya .

Thanks bearable is the right word. I’m looking forward to having this knee replacement just so II can be done with it all. I know I will have to go through some pain but at least I know it won’t last forever.

@Momof3gurlz Thanks for the information re the shipboard internet.  For the cruise only fare sailing we have where I was going to purchase internet, I’ve since found out Celebrity doesn’t sell the Basic internet service…that is just what is included in the AI package.  They only sell the Premium…so I’ll have to purchase that.  Waiting hopefully for a Black Friday or some other sale.

@aussielozzie18 Where we used to live we had cicadas every ten or so years.  At their peak you would not believe the constant noise outside!!!  We had a new neighbor move in and one day she left a message on our answering machine saying she didn’t know what we were doing in our backyard but could we please take a break…the noise was driving her crazy.  🤣

It’s good. Is it 100% as good as a regular knee? No as I still have some nerves pain where the nerves were cut and they have to slowly grow back. I still have some numbness but it is ok. The great thing is that I don’t have any pain in my knee which is fantastic. I can walk or climb stairs pain free. That’s a big win for me.

I agree the reliability of the trolley running has been very up and down especially since the pier extension and increased foot traffic. Also i am not sure if the strong winds have been a factor. There is always wheelchair assistance available although you may have to wait.

It is a long pier and an increasing problem with the increased port load.

Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of problems with Costa Maya since cruising resumed.

Thanks, Bonnie.

My back pain is much better to the point that it let me sleep at night... As for DH, he's still weak due to low hemoglobin, started to eat chicken liver to boost his iron levels.

As an aside, we traveled to be with DS2 for Rosh Hashana, and DH wanted to cook at least 2-3 traditional meals. With the "gefilte fish" DS2 didn't succeed in finding a "suitable" replacement to the carp we're using in Israel, so that dish was a complete failure.

We were happy to find chicken liver, but it turns out the taste of the chicken in Holland is so very different from the taste here. We were ready to "blame the chef", but when I tried to do schnitzel, or just baked chicken breast, the grands were not keen... The meat was tough to the point that you couldn't chew it.

Back here, it's another "world".... So happy.

We'll have to rethink the meals we're going to prepare to the grands next time we'll visit.... They so longed for "Savta Dani's schnitzel" 😉
