Hello from harmony. As most know we missed 2 ports. We tried to hug the western side of the hurricane and get to costa maya. Our captain  put together some slides. I wrote on 2 pictures I took you all might be interested in. I've never seen the captain do slides to explain why he decided no costa maya. We hugged the western side of the hurricane and some lady from Australia talking to a expert kept telling me why are we so close to milton. Too close her expert says. He tried to slide down the west side and squeeze between the hurricane and Mexico. He said the hurricane slowed down to 7 mph and wouldn't get out of the way. Couldnt go closer to mexican the water was too shallow.  He finally gave up on tuesday and we went to plan B. 2nd slide where we went backwards, his words  to try and get to calmer water. It's been a ghost town onboard.

Plan A was ro squeeze between the hurricane and mexico. Nope. So plan b was to head back supposedly to calmer water. All last night my bathroom door was swinging. Not real calm. But better than my drawers sliding in and out. I tried yesterday about 4 pm to get to the free mexican and wind was over 60 mph I'm sure. I finally had found one unlocked door to the outside. I hear kids were holding poles and letting the wind pick up their feet and flying themselves from poles. So they locked us inside. Today toward dinner finally the main pool is open.

Thought these were unusual from the captain.

Having wifi trouble. ..and btw of course I'm worried about my car parked in a car port. I had no idea when I left last sat this hurricane would cross the state and I'd have reason to worry. I knew was coming into the gulf, not from the east.

Anyway.. 28 pinnacles .. many brand new cruises. Sounded like he said 2k ish C&A members, very low.

Top tier party.. we moved inside...and heres cory...tuesday.  corry said maybe people are sea sick, sure not at top tier. The winners are that row bottom left..  1 new pinnacle and 3 highest.

I've never seen a ship this empty.

I just saw on tv a tornado thru cocoa beach. Where I look at, very close to me. They never say merritt island. Idk how close to me. I  need more info on this cocoa beach tornado.

Yea we missed 2 ports. Our dare devil captain tried to go to costa maya, said he just couldnt before 6 pm and so we turned back, skirted the hurricane for nothing trying to get past the bottom of the hurricane. Cozumel will be our only port. I'm up $25 in the casino. Not sure I spent all I pulled from my cabin. How does one know? I've heard if I didnt spend what i added to my machine, transferred from my cabin account, they put a block for this and next cruise. I won the big cay out on a penny machine and then went cold on adventure. Took $48 to the good on adventure tere. And smaller wins twice last year. I definitely have been very lucky. Actually I added $100 and cashed out $125.90.

I dont know if I spent all $100. The casino is jam packed with the pool deck closed. Today our only port this cruise. So casino closed. I might have pulled out more than I gambled. Was doing 2 cents I think. The machine was old. Hard to tell. Oh oh. Do they get mad at people who stop when they are ahead and winning?

Looks like the tornado touched down across the river from you by Atlantic Avenue near the ocean.  Damage shown on the news was to a Wells Fargo Bank and a Supercuts located here:

Doesn't look like any tornado damage to Merritt Island.

Wow, if you know where I am very close across that river I'm looking at. I almost wish I could go check on my car. Next time I'm getting the email of the girl next door. Shes on the board and I asked her to make sure they did t leave notices on my door, but it didnt cross my  ind to worry about the hurricane and tornado touching so close. I say girl... I'd guess she  might be in her 50s. To me young. I'm on 3 more weeks. .. well I learned something for next time, get her email. It's hard trying not to worry when I wake up and first thing I see is cocoa beach super cuts it says tornado. I got 2 more "groups" I'll be gone about a month may europe and the Panama canal next oct. I'm waiting for next cruise to open I guess I'm adding a 3rd alaska leg I added the coastal and then it's so easy to say I'll already be in Montreal. Fly in a week sooner. The group rate stinks, more than booking direct, and the price just goes up every day. But no extra hotel and travel expenses and it's a nice itinerary.  I thought it was almost 9 am, my tablet is on florida time. My phone switched and my watch. I'm very torn, but that's where I'm heading now. Icy straits and some good stops. Did it once on carnival miracle and loved alaska .. a lot. I love anything  nature.

Ok thanks so much for the info. Saved me trying to google. You are awesome.

Hope everyone came through Milton safely.  The only precaution we needed to take (aside from the ABC run…) was moving our lanai plants away from the screens and close to the house.  Was expecting wind gusts etc around 2am when Milton was predicted to pass by here.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  This morning it’s just overcast…no rain.  There is a storm surge predicted at high tide this afternoon and there are some evacuations from the affected zones on the island.  (We’re off island.)

Thanks for your update.

We are fine too. Storm passed  us at 2.30 /3 am. And as you mentioned, nothing out of the ordinary. We are also not in flood zones.

Bob posted this morning, so I can tell he is fine.
@Keksie, hope you are all good.
Jane is on the Harmony, so I know she is safe.
Renee and Mike, Ellen, I hope you all are good.
If I forgot any other fellow FL residents, sorry, and I hope all are safe.
I don't know about John and LaLa or Graham, since I am not on any other social media. But I hope they are all OK.

I'm "thinking aloud" here instead of Bella2's roll call, since I suppose there are more people with experience of flying into Port Canaveral.

My first thought about booking a very long flight from Israel to Florida was to book the only direct flight as of now, to Miami. I feared passing through NY in the middle of the winter.

When checking options of arriving from Miami to PC, it seems a very expensive and time consuming drag...

I found good options through NY, which will allow me to leave the same day at the cruise's end, instead of traveling back to Miami from PC, with an additional night spent in Miami.

I figure that if I'll fly in 3 days before the cruise, it will leave me enough "buffer" to make the cruise, should there be weather related cancellations in NY.

Any "flaws" in the plan? Well, apart from the ongoing "situation" home....

One option for Miami is the Brightline high speed rail line that has hourly service between Miami and Orlando. Doesn't stop close to the port, but plenty of transportation options from the Orlando airport.

@ firefly Jane glad to see the Captain is keeping everyone safe. How was the weather in Cozumel? Was the theater empty for entertainment shows, those that weren't cancelled?

I read all passengers will be getting a one day refund plus port refunds for the 2 ports missed which isn't bad since the cruise line cannot be at fault for Mother Nature and her wrath.

Glad to read those in here in Milton's path are safe and dry.

We did fine in Lake Worth, FL but at least 20 confirmed tornados did a lot of damage in Wellington in Palm Beach County and St. Lucie County. Five deaths reported also in a mobile home community.

I'm flying into miami after rome and doing bright line to orlando which is right next to the orlando airport. I booked premium, includes picking your seat, your luggage, $10 uber credit. A lounge with tons of food before your train, and a meal from miami to orlando I hear is a LOT of food. My time next may was $109. Feb could be higher, but it's a nice trip. Feb is high season. Check one way ticket. I bet its reasonable. And I got a hotel in miami with 24/7 shuttle service after my flight. Doing bright line the next day. Travel in style?

Lol idk all the diving shows cancelled the sun was out earlier. I feel bad for families. The splash pad finally opened yesterday but not the regular pool until dinner in case of a rogue wave. The splash pad doesnt work for adults.

Tonight is lobster night is all I know. We had to go back to Galveston for a medical emergency the day we left... I was so confused, I was sure we left and there we were in Galveston.

So today I went to next cruise... and before we finished, over the loud speaker is bravo bravo bravo. The guy says he cant print me a copy he has to go RIGHT NOW. Drop everything and do this drill. He will email by tomorrow or I said I can find him. Lol. So crazy of a cruise. But I intend to get my lobster tonight. And I love that citrus salad with avacados..  my favorite app. Not a dessert lover. But I love lobster.

Actually I see the sun at the pool today. I was kinda busy earlier with next cruise and picking a cabin. Next week coco cay and I hope the balloon ride.  .. and yes I need to book to Vancouver not Montreal. I keep mixing them up. Going to be a lomg flight. I'm not flying back so added the Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver... not Montreal.

At least now I've decided on a arrival date for a hotel.
