Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Did this thread hit any type of record yet for number of pages / posts?  Should be getting there if it hasn't. I can see it now...LONG after the pandemic is history and other covid-related threads have faded into the sunset, this one'll still be going and people 5-10 years from now will wonder what in the world "routine day in lockdown could have referred to" (at least till they start reading).

Our 16 year old granddaughter is in the hospital in the Dominican Republic with a stomach virus.  She traveled there with her girlfriend  Bella and Bella's family.  The entire family had been sick all week, and Ava was the last to get it, and obviously the worst.  She has been in the hospital for the past 2 days and will be there overnight as well with an IV to keep her hydrated.  Bella's family has been with Ava the entire time in the hospital.  They are supposed to all fly home tomorrow, God Willing.  🙏🙏

Prayers gratefully accepted❤️

Sorry to hear this. I will keep her in my thoughts and hope for a swift return home.

Oh where to begin.

Well a good place would be at the beginning.

I am sure people remember hurricane Charlie on Friday the 13, 2004. Our DD was only 10 when we evacuated safely. She was so mature and when we got home we said. “ ok she is showing responsibility so we will get her a kitten that she has been asking for”. We had to wait till spring and in April of 2005 Miss Carrie joined the family.

Her life existed with Christina non stop. In fact we would tell people Carrie did not walk the first two years of life, she was carried everywhere.

Then in 2013 Christina went off to college and we inherited Carrie. It took awhile but soon she was my best bud. Always around wherever I was in the house. She would even sneak under the covers at night. My lover girl. But when the DH would catch her and put her at foot of bed and she would stay there till morning.

Now to the present.

This past Tuesday she didn’t eat her dinner, started throwing up. I’m thinking hair ball. Medicated.
Wednesday still throwing up. Eating very little. Not drinking.  I went to store and bought her new food and the treats she likes. Still sleeping with me.
Thursday. Very sluggish slept all day. Ate a few treats. Slept with me.

Today. Lethargic, wobbly on feet. Can hardly notice if any food out of bowl. Definitely not perky. Weight loss evident.

She just turned 17. And in my heart I know it is only a matter of time. No heroics are planned.  Just comforting and tons of snuggles.

Now, I’m crying. Yea to some she is only a cat. But to me she is the child my daughter raised.

I know it is only a matter of time.

Sad in Ohio.

Well, it came to pass that our Feb 4,2023 on Harmony was canceled , the ship is chartered by Atlantis Cruises.

A one hour phone call with C&A yesterday did not work out, but I tried again today and we got booked on Harmony the week of January 21, so we will be on the ship from the 21 , B2B till Feb 4.

If all of our booked cruises happen, we will be Pin .  It has been just 12 years since we made D+.

We have a 3 day long weekend, with Anzac Day being commemorated on the 25th April each year, in honour of those Australians who served. Attending a dawn service either in the city or locally on the day is something my DH and his brother have done frequently.

Coincidentally, we had an early dinner tonight at our local RSL (Returned Services League) Club.  At 6pm, every night, patrons are asked to stand, face west and observe silence and listen to the Ode of Remembrance which finishes with Lest we Forget.
My dad has always taken any overseas visitors to an early dinner at the RSL during their stay, so they can experience this.

Our special day of remembrance is in November. Gary always offers to sell poppies for the Royal British Legion and does a London to Paris cycle ride to raise funds. This year though he is taking part in a charity bike ride to Ypres in Belgium

Both of us are from military families. Gary's dad was a flight engineer in the second World War, then joined The Canadian Forces and my dad was in the RAF

Prayers for Ava that she will respond quickly to treatment. It must be scary being in the hospital in a foreign country. I'm glad she has someone there with her. Hoping she gets home safely and healthy.

Best wishes to Ava, bella and the family. Hopefully they will be home tomorrow. Sometimes it is like you step onto your homebound plane and the worries are all over. Sending prayers for all of them.🙏

I also want to tell you that the DR has really excellent doctors, with heart and soul, not just those who want to save their ass in fear of a lawsuit.

Is this the GD whose boyfriend is a surfer and we talked about Surf surfer or Web surfer sometime in the last two years or so?😁

Thank you so much, Arzeena.  Ava and Bella are "best buds".  Bella's family has been wonderful during Ava's stay in the hospital.  They have been staying in a suite in the hospital, to be with Ava.  There is also an issue of some sort of parasite.  Our poor Ava.  She's such a good and sweet kid.

Yes, Arzeena, good memory!  Ava and her boyfriend are both surfers, and he was in a surfing competition last Summer.  I think she was too shy to enter.  She's our star Field Hockey player.😊
