No they brought him to RI Hospital. He had an excellent Orthopedic surgeon who reattached his thumb several years ago (another home improvement injury), so hoping we can get him again.

Yikes, maybe best to hire someone for these home repairs.............Ya think?

@George C- Just thinking, did you see “It Was 50 Years Ago Today” on LI or closer to you in Dallas.

We definitely would have enjoyed the show, but we are still conservative with what we do because of Covid. In 2008, we were much younger so we could handle a four hour round trip drive in the dark and we weren’t hesitant to be in crowds. Ah,youth !

Glad you enjoyed the show!

@lenquixote66 Lenny- I have been a Beatles fan since they arrived in NYC and Cousin Brucie introduced them to the US audience. Woodstock happened when I was a junior in HS. No way was I going upstate for that weekend!

Anyway, I am sure you enjoy listening to Retro69.

This Summer, our local beach is putting on concerts of mostly local bands. There is going to be one on Labor Day weekend that is a Beatles tribute band. We plan on going to it. After all, it is a five minute drive and the time is 5:00 to 7:30. - just right for us!

Hoping all are having a pleasant day !

MJ🙋🏻

On the last Saturday in June there are concerts every year at Lido Beach.

It has always been a well known group .Prior to the concert they do a salute to veterans and after the concert there are fireworks. This year for the first time it is a tribute band.

Have you ever been to the restaurant Baccaro’s in Massapequa ? Retro69 appears there two or three times a year.

I never saw the Beatles live but as I have posted before,Mitch Weissman who starred as Paul McCartney in the play on Broadway Beatlemania is considered to be the best singer of Beatle music on the planet.I worked with his father and he gave me two fee tickets to the play.

Well it’s my turn.  Andy was working on the siding around the new bedroom window when the ladder tipped and he fell.  Thankfully he landed on the grass but he put his hand out to break the fall.  It looks exactly like Owens. He was also having some back pain so I called a rescue.  We’re at the hospital now, he just went for a cat scan & X-rays but they’re saying he will likely need surgery on the wrist.   I’m just thankful I was home.

Having broken my right wrist in 2018 I know what he is feeling.I hope he makes a complete recovery.

That’s always my plan, anything other than changing a lightbulb I will call someone, luckily lots of very reasonable handyman in our area.

I hope your new knee is making life a lot better for you Greg.

I have an appointment on Thursday and hopefully will have a steroid injection in my right knee.

It's doing pretty good. I have some pain in my knee in another place that wasn't giving me any pain before so I'm wondering if it may be some nerve pain as the nerves regenerate. Good luck with the injection. What are they giving you?

I'm so sorry to hear this Deb. Thank goodness you were home. I will be thinking of you and Andy.

Perhaps is the area you are referring to Peekskill ?

You are correct!

Never did get the steak dinner. After the concert was over, we participated in some of the bar games - Giant Jenga, corn hole, etc - and after a few brews decided it was a good idea to try our luck at axe throwing. First 50 throws, the axe harmlessly bounced off the wooden target board. After a young lady next to me showed the correct technique , I landed 20 of the next 25 throws including a few bullseyes (pure luck). I did get a rain check for a steak dinner at a later date, hopefully when restaurants are less crowded.

Geez, I'm not even living the living room.........all these injuries are scary. Hope everyone feels better real soon.

I have a bit of a fear of heights so every time I go up a ladder to clean the gutters or something similar, it's always nerve-wracking experience and probably takes 5 times longer than it should since I move so slowly and deliberately. I have a 2 story house but it's on a hill that gets progressively steeper. Depending on where the ladder is, it can feel like I'm 10 stories up.   Might be time to hire a gutter cleaning service.

Funny thing is, I have no problem being on top of a sky scraper or walking to the edge of a cliff.

My best friend from college who passed away from CA in 2020 lived in Continental Village .For some reason the name was changed to Cortlandt Manor. My wife and I visited him and family many times over the years. We loved the area .

That has always been my strategy. Three years of high school shop taught me that I'll never make a living using my hands so I better do it with my brain, get a high paying job and hire people to do things for me.

We haven’t seen anyone from ortho yet. They did just come in to say he has one fractured rib. Back & neck are fine.

Oh no!  Poor Andy!  Thank goodness his back and neck are fine.

When ladders are involved, I find that it is cheaper to hire someone to to do the work then the cost of the likely emergency room visit.

I broke my right (dominate) wrist years ago in a skiing accident.  Apparently, there are something like 28 bones that make up the wrist and I broke the smallest but worst one. Due to limited blood flow, its the one that heals the slowest. Spent 3 months in a cast, first month the cast was from my knuckles to my shoulder than got progressively shorter each month.  Then 6 or 8 weeks of wrist rehab by a hand specialist to get my strength and range of motion back.

I cannot do anything mechanical even though I was able to make things in high school shop classes.

I always said that I want to do everything myself at least once.  I mostly stuck to that strategy when I was younger (except for car repairs).  It was a good excuse to buy tools.  Now that I'm retired, my most important skill is knowing who to call.

I have had 36 falls and broke something after each fall.A friend of mine who is a retired New England Surgeon often told me that I should have moved there rather than deal with the NY streets.

Our Connecticut house, the gutter started falling down, so I got new gutters with leaf guards. Problem solved.

I had my gutters replaced 5 years ago - along with a new roof and siding - and I was talked OUT of getting  leaf guards by the contractor.

Not one of my better decisions. 😒

Hate to hear this Deb.  I know it has to also be tough on you seeing Andy go through this.
