Cruise with confidence enhanced

Recommended Posts

We are currently booked for Freedom in October 2020 out of Puerto Rico.  We want to do the lift and shift but I don't see any October sailings in 2021.  Wonder if that will open up or maybe we are screwed and have to book for November to fit within 4 week window.  October is when our kids had fall break.

Thanks Ken for your tireless efforts to keep us up to date and properly understanding the options that Royal has made available.  You've definitely avoided confusion for a lot of people and almost certainly also have saved people some money.

Question related to an FCC free P balcony cruise we have booked in July.  If we don't sail and it's canceled can we move it to the next year same date and ship?  Or would we be better off doing it now with the L&S?  Or can you even do it with an FCC free cruise?  I would prefer to cruise so we were waiting for the cancel news but if it's more advantageous to do the L&S now maybe we would do it now?

Hi

I haven’t seen this situation raised yet in the thread so will ask here...

We are booked on a 7 night cruise on Oasis late June 2020 in a Grand Suite.

Final payment was made when it was due with the tiny bit of hope it would happen.  I expect this cruise to be cancelled on the next batch of cancellations so will need to decide if we want to lift and shift quickly.

I see similar sailings for next year, same itinerary, etc

Question 1 - if I shift our booking to next June to be price protected, do they hold my full payment already made or will they just hold the deposit amount for now, refund the rest, and I make final payment next March (or whenever final payment date is)?

Question 2 - we applied about $2,000 in Casino vouchers to our June sailing.  We earned the vouchers on a Prior sailing for either a free cruise (none fit our schedule) or a dollar value.  Since it mentioned you keep promotions, will that Approx $2,000 be used if I shift to next years sailing?

thank you in advance

Noreen

For Lift & Shift, does anyone have confirmation on what they mean by similar itinerary type.

Does a Western Caribbean cruise have to be shifted to another Western Caribbean - or could it be shifted to an Eastern Caribbean? Southern Caribbean?

You will have to call as those are one offs and not covered in the std FAQ’s

They hold all monies that you have paid.  You will have to call and ask about casino vouchers

Does anyone know if lift and shift covers cruises booked in the UK. My travel agent has had no details on it and so doesn't know yet.

Many thanks

I would also be interested if anyone knows if this is for all worldwide markets, in particular uk

Yep. It's showing on the UK website too. Probably for the first time ever we now have a lot of flexibility in bookings and can re-price as much as we want. Amazing!

Hi

Is the number of days a hard rule?

We have a New Years cruise (2020/2921) booked on Anthem this year which is 8 nights.

The similar New Years  (2021/2022) cruise on Anthem for next New Years is 9 nights.

I know I can look at other ships but wanted to sail out of Bayonne since that is just an hours drive.

I am torn on New Years since maybe things will be in better shape by the end of this year and we can sail.  The fact that this new policy goes to April makes me wonder.

Thank you

Noreen

It is absolutely a hard rule. They gave as an example of moving a  to a 3 day and it is not allowed.

you can call and try since it’s a holiday cruise.  Maybe they will make an exception

Yep, says it has to be the same itinerary, days, departure port & stateroom category.

Are they firm in the lift and shift for the 4 weeks of original sailing for some of the unique rooms, eg Vp, gp, op, ufs since the rooms are hard to book?

Yes, but you could call and try just expect a no

I haven't seen that it has to be the same departure port, but maybe I missed it.

After 75 minutes and much discussion between the rep, the supervisor and a review team, they have graciously moved us (2 guests) from a category that is normally only available to 3+ guests to the same cabin one deck up, which is technically a different category because it is normally  available for 2 guests.   It was touch-and-go for a while (we can’t, we can, we can’t, we can for $244, we can for $200, we can’t, we can do something different, we can anyway, we did).  I am really happy with the amount of time and effort they put into it, and with the final result.  I don’t think the “guarantee only” response was accurate, this is very new to them and they seem to be struggling.

1388 or 1688 ?
