Theater, casino, bar - unless 6 feet distance, mask should be required if used at other times on ship. JMHO Nope, if masks are necessary for safety then it is still too risky to be on a ship. Masks are a preventative, not corrective measure. All the masks in the world won't help someone who has COVID (knowingly/asymptomatic) already...except to avoid spreading it further. If people get tested and cleared to board, and masks are required to some degree (such as public areas outside the cabin)...then it's only a preventative measure...with nominal risks.

Frankly you can test everyone before they start their travels, can't stop anyone getting while they are traveling to the ship At Embarkation they can take your temperature, even do the antibody test, but if you got it while traveling the virus likely won't be detected for another few days to week. Just think you'll be asymptomatic spreader in the thousands at the bar, dining room, theater, in the elevator, walking by people in those spacious hallways. If anything like on airplanes and other high density places the mask is the best bet to reduce spreading, but nah let's skip them.

I have to wear them at work and don't want to do that on vacation!!! LOL, I have been WFH now for three months, no mask, darn I could go pantless too. Just need to make sure my camera is aimed right and I don't stand up, LOL. I'd leap at the chance to go on vacation and wear a mask happily to be on vacation anywhere fun. My county just went to phase 1 with gyms, salons and eat-in allowed. Got out and wore mask to the gym, after a 3 month break, sadly most of the other bozo's didn't care and went maskless. I'm on the fence to return to the gym. I am so happy to get out even with the mask, darn even putting on my fancy uncomfortable formal wear to cruise too. That was lock down was about a lot of things forgotten. It was to flatten the curve and not overwhelm the healthcare system; hospital beds, ICU beds, ventilators. From what I have seen we made lots of noise about the world ending and NYC going to be in big trouble but NYC NEVER ran out of beds, ICUs, nor ventilators. The lives lost are tragic, but we flattened the curve! The original purpose that we went to this very life and economic disruptive, we seemed to have achieved the goal of not overwhelming. What is clear to me the problem isn't opening the problem is the choice of people to position the opening to return to absolutely stupid behavior, gathering sans any masks/distancing, bars/pools/beaches just packed, etc. etc. Unlike if you look at some countries where the culture and citizens have some ability to self sacrifice for the better good of the country, here it is all or nothing, simply stupid, lack of leadership/sacrifice, but what would that surprise anyone, countries with strong leadership or culture are more successful than those with weak leadership and weak culture. I think travel is a necessary evil of life, cruising less so, but if we are going to allow schools to open, then I'd say we should allow cruises. But schools talk about strict measures, masks, safe distance ( we'll see if they can do it ), airlines are trying it ( already notable drama with me more important than neighbors passengers ), I would expect cruises to have the same challenges. travelhound Posted June 19, 2020 #418 Share Posted June 19, 2020 I think all the cruise lines will require that you sign a release before getting on the ship and masks will then be optional.

If masks are required all the times when you are outside of your cabin I doubt anyone will be cruising. Thanks. The company that terminated me offered me my position back with a 50% increase in pay to liquidate the store. It's only for about 8 weeks but the way this Sh^t show is going I may be there until the end of the year if a permanent job doesn't come up first. At double the pay it's not worth it with the hours I put in. But at least I'm making money and I can go back on unemployment when this gig ends. I hope masks aren't needed when cruising starts because after a while you can't even think straight. I don't know how these nurses and Doctors do it. Also I hope that the cruise lines come out of this because it's been hell all week telling people that their store credit and gift cards are no longer good. They originally had until April 15 to redeem them but we were closed. I feel their pain and I really think they should extend them 30 days which was the original plan before covid but they aren't budging. The bank makes the rules. So all I'm saying, whether it's a gift card to a department store or FCC from a cruise company use them or lose them. There are a lot of retailers not coming out of this. The company that is running our liquidation is booked solid for the next few years. His companies business has never been better.
CRUISEFAN0001 Posted June 19, 2020 #423 Share Posted June 19, 2020 It is apparently a struggle for a few cruise passenger candidates to understand the difference between wanting to wear a mask on a cruise (almost no one does) and needing to wear one for proactive health safety purposes. Want to or not...cruises, stores, airlines events, and other activities will likely require them for some time to come. Unless people choose to become hermits or else knowingly expose others to potential health risk...masks will be around in the forseeablw future.
