Reminds me of an exhibit put on by Ed Maeder when he was at Historic Deerfield in MA in 2001. They had several Georgian gowns on dress forms and supplemented the display with a series he reproduced using crepe paper tablecloths and streamers, etc.  Here is a link to his later work.
