Full disclosure, I did a web search for “stained glass sound Netherlands.“

Then you should know the town as well but it is close enough for me.

Your turn.

Here is an other picture of the same building.

Well done, @CPT Trips - that is how I found it as well.

I used Theo's original clue so I knew it was in the Netherlands & I also figured that the building must be glass - that's all that was needed for my Google search (I didn't yet know about the sound clue). My Google search (glass+building+Netherlands) identified the building. It is listed among the world's 15 most beautiful glass buildings here:

Anticipating your photo.

Oh, I know the location of this museum - this site played a part in immigration to America back in the day. Nice photo!

Did you visit? We found it quite moving.

Also, we found some great beer in a bar on a boat walking back to our ship. That boat was right next to another interesting brick building.

Yes we did and found it very interesting - prior to our visit we were quite ignorant of this particular group's passage to America. We were on an extended land trip and visited some friends that live in a city that boasts, arguably, one of the most significant works of European art. These friends told us about the museum, and, as it was a fairly short train ride, we visited. Happy that we did.

Did you watch the dance video? We almost skipped that but a docent told us it was a must see. The role the showers played gave me an entirely new perspective on the horrific events that followed closely after the timeframe featured inside this building.

Yes, we watched the Dance video - the sober poetic film without text that, IMHO, allowed the viewer to draw their own conclusions regarding migration.

I am assuming that the showers put you in mind of the holocaust (in particular, the film sequence in which the showers appeared, right after rows of desks with people being interviewed/interrogated if I correctly recall). I understand how the nakedness in the showers could remind one of the showers in the gas chambers.

We have visited Yad Vashem as well as several concentration camps including Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau. Believe me, nothing has ever made me more aware of the horrific nature of mankind's actions during that time  - man's inhumanity to man absolutely confounds me.

We visited the museum just two years after it opened and, as it opened fairly recently, I assume your visit was in the not too distant past.

I'm wondering where your ship was docked and am intrigued by the interesting brick building near your ship. Maybe you will expound on this after your photo has been identified.

The brick building is not distinctive enough for me to put it in context of a location, but from the set stones I would conclude that this is not the Netherlands. France or Germany then, I go for Germany. The new high building in the background resembles a ship, I suppose this is to do with emigration, as you have mentioned the topic. A port that can also be part of a river cruise as it is on a navigable river?

The building I mentioned was located between where we docked and the site pictured. If I don’t remember to get back to you, remind me.

No, not Germany and the new building was unrelated when we visited. But the rest of your thinking is on target.

Our visit was the first year it opened, before their on line ticketing was translated into English. An email from me requesting a reserved timed ticket entry unexpectedly resulted in a docent escorting us around.

That’s where it is. Keep going.

I will let someone else find it.

I should have said "I found it". Hopefully the city will give someone else a clue in finding it.

Oops, misunderstood the clue. Yes there is of course Belgium, I had forgotten about that country.😉 I neve been to Antwerp, no idea about the building then.

Close enough, they are repurposed to a museum. We colonials might label it the flip side of Ellis Island. Not totally correctly as the ports of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and  Boston were destination of many ships.
