I’m guessing that if they do allow a B2B they will provide the test for you fir the second leg.

When cruising starts back up in the US, I hope they allow b2b's.  We always book B2B's, would hate think I would get bumped off one of them. We already have a b2b booked for 2022.  Have 2 b2b's (4 cruises total) booked for early 2021, but not at all sure they will be a go.

The costa b2b finding 7 positives 4 days into the 2nd leg of the chartered b2b I dont think will be a positive for allowing b2b right off. You might have to choose.

 

You also know rcl said start with shorter than 10 day cruises, and you boarding with a negative results test. I had one I moved. Too many ifs for me. I love b2bs, just dont think starting out they will want people onboard that long plus the assumption you dont have to have a negative test you get 1 to 5 days before boarding the 2nd leg. 

 

You have to assume a lot to not think b2bs might be a go. Who knows. I expect no news before election tbh, everything in a holding pattern. I want to cruise as much as the next person, just thinking you might have to choose between legs of a b2b. Who knows how rcl will handle it. I cant imagine that many other than us diehards booking. Early cruises will be quiet I predict.

WOW....so many scenarios can be made out of this only 50% capacity sailing.

We just recently visited an all inclusive in Cancun and paid for the basic room.

Since they can only book at 50%, everyone was graciously given an upgrade to the same 2 buildings.  This made sense for the efficiency of servicing of housekeeping, room service and other special requests.  Their staff did not have to run over an entire property, consisting of 6b buildings in order to service their guests.  If the cruise line was smart, they would consider the same thing.

How would this work? If you booked a balcony or higher no free upgrade, but if you booked a inside or ov give a free upgrade to fill up those higher cat cabins?

 

Free upgrade, reduced... trying to imagine how it could work. If lower gets free upgrades, they will post and you know everyone will want a free upgrade. At your all inclusive how did those who didnt get upgraded free feel who paid more or didnt they know?  

 

Unless there was a quiet way to do it, I think free there would be a outcry. People would post.

Inside was almost $200 less when I booked. If my next door neighbor said sweet got upgraded for free. You dont think I'd feel ripped off? I'd want something similar value free. Someone would hear if it was done and post on cc. Why should someone else who got a cheaper cabin get a free upgrade? Fine if higher deck maybe, get people off lower decks, but not inside to balconys free. Pinnacle ok, but not just anyone that saved money booking a cheaper cabin. 

 

I think there would be upset people who got nothing. Including me.

Upgrades are not a given right. Some get them, some don’t. If every inside was upgraded on a cruise, it would not necessarily follow that others get upgraded. Upset? Why? You got what you reserved. 
 

of course, I the long run the line is not going to upgrade insides on every cruise as passengers would quickly book only insides.

Whether a cruise fare or an airline seat, I would be very surprised if the person beside you spent the same amount of money as you did.  If you are going to get upset that someone got a better deal, I would suggest you avoid talking cruise fares while on the ship.  There is always going to be someone who got a sweet deal.  Last time we sailed Anthem, we booked a suite guarantee, fully expecting to get a JS.  We ended up with a two bedroom grand suite.  We specifically booked the guarantee to save money.

Bought tickets to a concert at our community center last week. Event is in mid November. 

 

Due to social distancing regulations, it's General Admission every other row, all parties seperated by two seats. 

 

Now the website doesn’t mention that, and they are selling three levels of tickets. However if you go to box office, they encourage you to book the cheapest level ticket and arrive early.

You can have your opinion, I can have mine. They shouldn't give free upgrades if you booked a inside. Small fee perhaps, but not free, unless there is some order to how they do it. Who paid the most, who is highest loyalty, something, not just any and all insides for instance.

 

Just my opinion. Yes, of course I know airline seat prices differ. Apples to oranges. It would be like arriving at the airport and everyone sitting to the left gets a free upgrade. .. after they paid for their seats.

 

Guess there will be surprises.

 

John I'd give you a upgrade any day and it's nice they hinted to you to buy the lower cost seats and arrive early. That would be fair.

I think at this point, no one really knows. I would think the "fairest" way would be by booking date. However, my business side says it should be highest cabin rate. I don't think other than those two variables who knows how they decide. Maybe they start and go every other cabin and its the luck of the draw. Who knows at this point. I am just hoping cruising is back sooner than later! 

Just because you paid for an expensive cabin does not mean you will spread a dime on the ship. Some may have a cheaper cabin and spread big bucks. Either way it won't be fair. People plan years for vacations and to be told they won't be go is heartbreaking. I guess we'll see.

So,,, they would bump a suite customer (paying thousands or tens of thousands of dollars per person) to save an inside room (paying tens or hundred dollars per person). Probably not. 
 
Bump a casino guest with a comped room who pays only taxes? Probably not. 
 
It is somewhere between with a magic formula. 
 
Ships have been oversold before and people are offered [generous] compensation for giving up their reservation. 

Just because you pay for a suite does not mean you will be spending [emoji765][emoji765][emoji765][emoji765]on the a ship. I've seen some cheap suite guest.

I'm not sure if it will be a factor in the US, but for the Singapore sailings, inside and outside view rooms are apparently not allowed (all cabins should have a balcony), so if that were the case, maybe the inside and oceanview rooms will be the first to go? Just speculating here.

Well look at the ships they have. The larger ship have more space to maneuver with.

If that happens, I think it would be based on the location of the cabin, not the person who booked it.  If a particular section needs to be vacated and you happened to book a cabin in that section, you might be the lucky recipient of an upgrade.  Much easier to evaluate a section of cabins than individuals’ C&A status, amount spent on fare, amount spent on extras, date booked, etc.

The next trip we have scheduled is a B2B from Singapore to Seattle.  If I can only take one of them I would cancel the other.  We also have 2 B2B's and and a S2S2S2B2B booked next year.  When we need to fly to a port be go for at least 4 weeks.  I would hate to have to spend every other week in a hotel.
