Rare CineGraphic Posted February 15, 2021 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2021 Little did we know when we boarded the Crown a year ago today, that it would be a long time before we sail again. I miss decorating our cabin door and the early morning chair hogs I miss the fabulous crew and meeting stray dogs on the beach I miss the view while walking back to the ship, knowing that air-conditioned comfort is just a few thousand steps away. And I miss late night entertainment & cocktails, without worrying about how to get home safely. 12
GoHuskies! Posted February 15, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2021 I know. We were scheduled for a cruise to Hawaii from LA next week, and of course here we are on land in Arizona! At least we are not snowed in.

skynight Posted February 15, 2021 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2021 We were on that cruise and the one before b2b. It didn't really sink in how wide spread the pandemic had become until we were waiting at the airport the next morning. Did not enjoy the flight home.

They remember well the folks at each island stop knowing it was the last call and wishing everyone well.
loge23 Posted February 16, 2021 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2021 We were halfway through our 28 day RT LA-Hawaii-Tahiti. Valentine's Day was fun onboard. Hard to fathom - a full year of this.
Thrak Posted February 16, 2021 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2021 We boarded our last cruise on November 4, 2019 in Barcelona. We never dreamed we wouldn't be cruising after that.
BigWaveDave87 Posted February 16, 2021 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2021 It was a year ago on February 6th that we did our last cruise aboard the Royal Princess. (posted this anniversary on our Roll Call) Little did we know that it would be the last cruise for some time. Our DD had concerns about people having Covid-19 being it was on the news that the Diamond Princess was anchored at the Yakohama Port and the passenger's could not disembark. She and her friend joined us and stayed in thier own balcony cabin next to ours. The DD was washing her hands all the time and not wanting to touch anything. At the time we didn't have full understanding of how the virus was being transmitted. (and I came out of retirement in March to work in a store as an essential worker) We so look forward to the day we can take to the sea again! Happy Trails 🥃
dog Posted February 16, 2021 #11 Share Posted February 16, 2021 My last cruise was in the beautiful, new Sky Princess in December 2019. Next one will be on the Sky again in March 2022. Thanks to OP for sharing photos.
MickeyandLV Posted February 16, 2021 #12 Share Posted February 16, 2021 We started our last cruise 1 year ago tomorrow (2/16/2020). Regal Princess to Caribbean. We had booked that cruise because we were in Florida for a family trip to Walt Disney World the week before. We also booked that cruise so we would have enough cruises to be Elite for our British Isles cruise in September 2020. Wow what a year it has been. We are so glad that we had that cruise before everything stopped.

Mud_Shark Posted February 16, 2021 #14 Share Posted February 16, 2021 What do you mean "one year ago"? We have been in virus lockdown for going on 5 years (or so it seems). Longest year of my life. Don 4 1

Rare RLK33853 Posted February 16, 2021 #19 Share Posted February 16, 2021 Yes who knew last February what was about to happen to not only the cruise industry but everything else as well? This time last year we were just about to board the Coral. Once aboard, crew members started talking about their friends on the Diamond and what was happening half a world away. South American ports seemed oblivious other than we had to go through a temperature check when our flight arrived in Chile. After a great cruise, we disembarked on March 5th. We then spent a fabulous week in Peru, but by the time we caught our flight out of Lima things were going downhill fast. We flew out of Lima the day before Peru closed their airports. All the while we were thinking about the passengers who were likely stranded on the Coral, the ship that we had just got off of the week before. We started cruising in the early 90's and over the years cruises became our go to getaways. We certainly want to return but not until vaccines are received and things are back to some sort of normal (where we can interact with others, including the crew). In the interim, stay safe.
Daniel A Posted February 16, 2021 #20 Share Posted February 16, 2021 We got off Regal on February 9, 2020. After we got home we learned of the devastation to come. Stay safe everybody, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Our first cruise ever was in a tiny inside cabin way forward on Sea Princess. We sailed in 323 and it ws only 135 sq. ft. I had to go outside just to change my mind! My wife had to team up with our oldest son to nag me into taking that first cruise. I absolutely knew I would hate everything about it. When we got off after 10 days I wanted to get right back on the ship. We absolutely loved the cruise and the ship. That voyage changed our lives.
ringers0815 Posted February 16, 2021 #22 Share Posted February 16, 2021 One year ago we were on The Sun Princess in the middle of a 46 days cruise from Perth Australia across the Indian Ocean to South Africa. It was a wonderful cruise.
maggie777 Posted February 16, 2021 #23 Share Posted February 16, 2021 We were also on the Sun ,46 days RT Perth and b2b 11 day Perth to Sydney. The last part ended early and we returned home to the world as we know it today. The ship , crew and itinerary were wonderful.
ams1130 Posted February 17, 2021 #24 Share Posted February 17, 2021 We got off the Royal Princess March 7th, and no one got on after us. Other than handwashing being monitored at the buffet areas, we didn't understand anything major was going on. Until we got to LAX and saw the masks. We aren't like many of you in that we don't cruise often, but as someone previously mentioned, this has been the longest decade of our lives. We were also booked on the Perth to Sydney cruise after the South Africa trip but decided to cancel and get off in Perth when we saw how the situation with the virus was evolving. We took advantage of the revised cancellation policy that Princess issued on March 5th (I think) and rebooked all our travel arrangements while we were in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
