Cigarette smell

I could be wrong but I don't believe smoking will even be allowed in the casino when cruises restart.

Interesting only Cruise longer 10+ niters and on refueling day for 5-6hrs the Closed Casino is the only place on the Ship to smoke. Hope Smokers can go without lighting up that long.  Non-smoker so doesn't bother me.

I'm very sorry for your loss.  I've lost family members to smoking as well and can sympathize.

The problem in the casino is that if you want to play in the non-smoking section, there is no separation or divider between the smoking and non-smoking sections so all the smoke goes over and permeates the non-smoking section. If you just walk the other way you can not enjoy an activity you would otherwise partake in without having to inhale the smoke of others.  This creates a situation that is unfair to the non-smokers which represents a much larger number of people.

Don't get me wrong - I agree on the Casino No Smoking...

My comment was in regards to some of the other Anti-Smoker Comments & Judging of Smokers...
I have true empathy for all who are addicted to smoking & are unable to quit.

The fact that we're having a discussion other than "I will never cruise again if I have to wear a mask" or "Requiring a vaccine and wearing a mask is dumb" is a good sign.

I smoked for 25+ years and quit 15 years ago but it was a long time trying. I do miss some aspects of it but the fact that I stunk to high hell all those years and I was nose deaf to it was a detriment to my family. I still don't think smoking should be banned overall but I don't have problem with the cruise lines or any other business banning it if it fits their business model.

I was at a casino in OK this past weekend and the place was packed to the limits. The table games had limited capacity (3 people instead of 6 at the blackjack tables as an example) but the slots wear ALL open to play. I never found an open seat at a table game and the slots we almost full everywhere I went. The casino allows smoking in specific areas and while it does make the none smoking areas less smokie there is still some and you also have to walk through the smoking areas. It was never so bad that I felt like my life was being drained out of me as I walk through. The worst part was the next day when I put my mask on and it stunk so bad. I obviously pulled out clean one and put the dirty one aside for the wash.

As for the cruise ships allowing smoking, it's like the casinos in Vegas. They like risk taking people because they tend to risk more then their non smoking counter parts. There may come a day when the nicer strip casinos ban it 100% (Park MGM is 100% smoke free) because gambling is and is continuing to be a more secondary reason to visit for many people. The lower end casinos will most likely have it around for a long time. The same can be said about the cruise lines. I see the shorter cruises having more smokers / risks takers and thus those cruises might have casino smoking for a long time.

Either way...Let's get back to sea!!!!

Not worried about them going without. Not my problem.

You can’t smoke in church, you can’t smoke in malls, you can’t smoke in restaurants, you can’t smoke in theaters, you can’t smoke in most amusement parks, you can’t smoke in offices or at work,.  A lot of smokers don’t even smoke inside their own home. So why can people smoke in casinos?  They say it’s because a lot of smokers have a propensity to gamble and it enhances their spending.
Smokers still go to church, malls, restaurants, theaters, amusement parks, offices and to work. So where’s the reasoning that smokers won’t gamble in casinos if they can’t smoke there??

I don't think it's that they won't gamble if they can't smoke.  It's more that they tend to gamble more if they can smoke:

I reached out to the poster doing the live thread on the Quantum sailing this week and he said Yes, smoking and vaping is allowed in the casino in designated areas.

Also, looks like he is having a great time - reading his thread makes me really miss cruising even more.

Probably so, but conversely, non smokers might gamble more if they could breathe....

Plenty of us .. and stop being so judgemental.   I suppose you're perfect .. with no flaws?

Two of my friends died from the inhaling of smoke courtesy of their spouses.

I am in favor of universal banning of cigarette and cigar smoking.

Not only no smoking in the casino.  I say no riding in the elevators until 30 minutes after you smoke.  Can’t believe how bad the smell is when a smoker walks in from smoking.

Another reason we prefer taking the stairs.

When I was physically able to not only did I walk up and down the stairs on cruises but I spent 21 years working on the 17th .floor of a NYC office building and walked up and down many times.

Whether you can smell the stench or not wearing a mask your clothes and hair will reek of the stench. Agree with others that RC needs to take Celebrity's lead banning all inside smoking.

I remember when I was in my 20's and smoking was still allowed everywhere. I'm a non smoker and second hand smoke never bothered me while I was out and about. However when I woke up in the morning the stench of cigarette smoke in my bedroom from my hair and the dirty cloths that I threw on the floor was sickening.

I would be peeved if wearing a mask while sitting on deck is mandatory while it's a free for all with no mask wearing in the casino while smoking. Basically between smoking and drinking masks will be obsolete in the casino.

I quit smoking over 30 years ago (cold turkey February 1991) after smoking for 26 years (1965). I was told by many I smelled of cigarette stench. I didn't believe them until I quit. I was wrong.

My grandmother was a chain smoker. My mother and my aunt never smoked. They are now both in their mid to late 80's. They both see the same doctor and on a fairly recent chest x ray both of them showed lung damage caused by smoking. Mind you it was mild but there was scaring nonetheless.

They may not smell the best but smokers are the funnest people on the ship! Seriously, hang out in the smoking section and it's salt of the earth people, laughing people, people that will talk to others, interesting people etc. The smoke acts like jerk repellent for some reason. Everyone has a great time and it's some of the coolest folks on board.

That may be but I've been around some of the jolliest, merriest, funniest, interesting, personable people onboard that don't smoke.  I've also seen some very mean smokers.  Goes both ways.

When I was 19 I was dating a girl who lived about 3 miles away from me.I did not have a car. When I left her house after an evening date I had the option of taking a short cut through a city park where gangs roamed.I began smoking to try and appear “cool” when walking through the park.I guess it worked because nobody ever bothered me.I continued smoking for another 24 years and then quit also cold turkey .I never smoked again.

Especially when they need their nicotine fix.
