finny2 Posted June 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2021 If you weren’t cruising Celebrity, what cruise line would you choose? (Similar priced.)
rucrazy Posted June 19, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2021 (edited) We cruise two lines Celebrity and Holland America Line... If Celebrity would have kept a smaller ship to do longer more exotic cruises we may have never went back to HAL... but Holland has let us do 30+ cruises to some amazing parts of the globe! Rare mom says Posted June 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Depends on the itinerary we want. There are only a very few lines that we wouldn't sail with. Our next one is on Princess.
Fouremco Posted June 19, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2021 (edited) With the exception of one family cruise on the Allure of the Seas with the kids and grandkids, all of our cruises have been on Celebrity and HAL. The easy choice then is HAL. Edited June 19, 2021 by Fouremco

I guess this question has been asked before and everybody will talk about their alternative favorite cruise lines. Based upon past experiences. My answer would have been Royal Caribbean and I have cruised a lot on both of these lines. But now my answer changes and is based solely on the cruise line and ships that are fully vaccinated - also meaning fewer kids. So that rules out Royal C for me. Recently I have been looking at Viking and then more expensive adult-oriented lines like Silversea.

retired dude Posted June 19, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2021 our dec 21' cruise on celebrity will be our last as long as they do the "AI" program.. Just no longer affordable for us....Our favorite has been rccl, but their policy on the vaccinations will bear watching for us....We are vaccinated and for us, that should be mandatory for those wishing to cruise..just sayin'

jelayne Posted June 19, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 19, 2021 If not on Celebrity we choose based on itinerary. Next 2 non Celebrity are on Azamara, we only sail them for the itinerary not the on-board experience. We have looked at Seabourn & Regent and may try them for 2023. tfred Posted June 19, 2021 #12 Share Posted June 19, 2021 some of depends on why you are looking elsewhere and what your price points are. Some of it is itinerary dependent - more choices of cruise lines ex Florida. Med/Europe is port intensive and you need to look at the stops that you want to go to if you normally book a suite of some sort - I would look at Oceania or Viking. Got more money - Silversea or Regent want a "big" boat but dont drink or use the internet - Princess Want an old fashioned cruise experience - HAL

I will move to MSC since they offer me diamond status. I been doing a lot of research about the MSC Yacht Club recently and very much interested to try. Over the last fifteen years -- besides Celebrity (many times) -- we have tried Princess, Norwegian, Carnival, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and U.S. riverboats -- each at least twice. At this point, we don't want to go back to any of Celebrity's competitors, because we do not feel "at home" there. On the other hand, if X's fares are now ridiculous, because of "Always Included" (which we reject), then we may quit cruising completely. Well, we might make one exception -- a specific, mid-size RCI ship that appeals to us (when it has a good itinerary and fare). . Orator Posted June 19, 2021 #16 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Celebrity prices motivated me to look at Crystal. Loved it and has become my first choice. Will take Celebrity for TAs and will book if I find reasonable prices.

Generally a solo here too, I don’t like having to pay x2 for Apex AI, but just accepted it is what is, doing it for the itinerary. On my 2022 Oceania they included 6 bottles of wine/spirts of my choice and they allow to bring on unlimited alcohol to your cabin.
jalves Posted June 19, 2021 #18 Share Posted June 19, 2021 We've been very happy with Viking Ocean. Nice ship. Really nice staff. No casino if that's important to you. FWIW, if you want to do a river cruise, Viking River Cruises are great too.

Yes I know I will pay a little more on Yacht Club and the cabin is a little smaller than Skysuite but of what I watch on U tube their services is far much better than Celebrity. There is no comparison at all. Edited June 19, 2021 by verizon

Lmm79 Posted June 19, 2021 #21 Share Posted June 19, 2021 We have young kids so we generally sail RC. we have taken one cruise without kids, on Crystal. we would have booked them again this summer but the flights to the Bahamas were extremely costly compared to flying to florida. So we are trying celebrity.

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted June 19, 2021 #24 Share Posted June 19, 2021 If would help if OP specified what '(similarly priced)' means. If you book Insides on Celebrity, that offers one set of possibilities. If you book Suites on Celebrity, the list is completely different. And if you only book Suites to get Luminae, any upper premium cruise line joins the list. 4
Denny01 Posted June 19, 2021 #25 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Done others to join friends and for itineraries, but as many here, stick with Celebrity unless there is a specific reason. As my signature shows, doing Viking Exploration on the Great Lakes; nothing else is providing that and want to experience it…..even at it’s expense! Unfortunately, after booking Viking for a B2B to hit all the Lakes, I realized its even more expensive than a Celebrity Suite. Sooooo, do I cancel the Viking Exploration??? Nope, I book a Celebrity Sky Suite!! Im a sick puppy! den 3 1
