I think I'll wait till she's actually there or at least North of San Francisco.

I think I'll go with actually there but will note the progress as she moves.  This morning she is more or less midway between LA and SF.

Good morning dailyites and thanks Rich for the report.  Reaching out to the lonely is an important thing to do.  Movement both physical and mental makes us grow.  The meal sounds good maybe in the Fall though. Haven’t been to today’s port but will enjoy it through the photos.  Prayers for everyone on our list and cheers to all celebrating today.

Good morning!  Very late to the party today.  Sunday mornings are busy here.  Nice grouping of days with cheer up the lonely, pet photo day, and swimming pool day.  No swimming today for me, would love to cheer up a lonely person today (Damon), and don't have a pet anymore.  No thanks to the hamburger stroganoff today.  Plenty of prayers going out to our Care list and it makes me happy to see so many wonderful happenings to cheer.  Visiting with family tops the list.

I was with @kazuin 2019 when we visited Bordeaux, and visited it prior to that in Sept. 2018 on Prinsendam as well.  Loved it there!  Both visits were overnights.  One of my favorite sites there was Place de la Bourse.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKgnbRMcQtxhDITYkPScHIb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium

Need to do something else now but will be back later.

Good Morning Everyone from a warm and sunny day at the beach.

I have always loved swimming pools and have been fortunate to have one most of my adult life. My DD loves to be in the pool and it is great therapy for her. Loneliness is a very sad thing. I know that after my DD was diagnosed several years ago, I was very lonely and isolated. It was a terrible time. That is behind us, but I try to be very aware of others that may be going thru the same thing.

Have not been to todays port and am looking forward to pictures.

This morning there are 15 fishing boats right off the beach. Dont know what is running today but I wont be going in the ocean thats for sure!

Stay safe and enjoy today

It is mini red snapper season. I think it is for only three days.

Thanks to the posters. Prayers for the care list and congrats for those celebrating.

I was wondering if erewhon is on a trip? I haven't noticed a post in about a week.

Thanks to all.

Good morning from a rainy central Texas.  An interesting collection of days. We should all do our best to cheer up the lonely.  There is no pool here.  Pets probably think they should be celebrated every day.

Our last two pets died many years ago.  These are Brandy (left) who lived to 12 1/2 and Nikki who was just a few weeks passed here 14th birthday when she died.

@grapau27  Graham, I had two Dalmatians when I was growing up.  The people we got them from named them after the Mormon missionaries who were staying with them that year.

@mamaofami  Carol, I'm glad the aid is helping, and hopefully she will start her day when Sam wakes up.

We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine.

Like the Sienfeld quote.

We have been lucky enough to visit Bordeaux three times on the Prinsendam, in 2011, 2016 and 2016.  In 2011, we were there for a full day and took a tour to Cognac.  We did get a few picures of Bordeaux after the tour.  In 2016 and 2017, because of the tides, we arrived mid-day and sailed mid-day the next day.  On those visits, we toured the town on our own walking and taking the tram.

I realize the first of these pictures is a repeat of  @StLouisCruisers Sandi's, but it goes with the next three.  Place de la Bourse with and without the mist both daytime and evening.

In 2011, the Prinsendam reached the pilot station early the morning after leaving Bordeaux.  Because the station is so far from where the pilots board and disembark the ships, it is done by helicopter.

Bordeaux, France - 2019 photos

Was the Prinsendam really that pointed on the bow?  Not that I remember but it sure looks that way here.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVId5ihkED1KiwPS_itFiAsi?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium

On our walk around Bordeaux in 2019 we passed by the Saint Louis Cathedral (appropriate) and they were working on cleaning the very dirty exterior.  First photo shows a section they had cleaned already and the covered scaffolding.  Second photo show the dirty back side of the church.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJWgwFwBKoWQhilEc0XmKsb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium

Reminds me of cleaning our cement driveway and sidewalks recently.  😄  The interior of the church was very quiet unlike the noisy power washing going on outside.  Quite pretty too.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKsZXMt8iEKYH9Kv_CEUB3B?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium

Blessings to all this beautiful Sunday morning.  Thank you Rich for bringing us all together. Roy I was wondering whether the ships would wait for the passengers affected by the airport scare yesterday. Thank you for the update.

Attached are pictures of our resident tarantula, Tommy. And our neighbor pup Huckleberry hound. I fill cow hooves with peanut butter and freeze them. It keeps Huck busy for awhile.

Our pools are finally open 100%. I believe I'll be attending next week.

My heart goes out to those who are lonely. Especially during the crazy pandemic. Some say they have difficulty getting back to the way things were before. I hope and pray we get through this.

image.png.e0a9cad220358d03d986b77a168a03fc.png

Last night we took Elvis out for a beautiful sunset ride. Visited some neighbors along the way. Saw baby fawns and roadrunners. Today we are going to lunch for fish. Tonight catching up on shows we taped. May be boring for some, but we love our time together, although it would be amazing to be on a BHB right now.

God bless all today. Cheers and prayers.

I think that narrow pointed bow is much of what made the Elegant Explorer a great little ship for rough seas.  It's a trait shared with great ocean liners like QM2.

Captain D. D. used to say that too.  He compared it to an ocean liner.

Good Morning All,

We have the makings of a warm day here in SoCal. Will probably get to the market early, then up the hill on my mountain bike (MTB) and pull some weeds from our slope. I’ve got some free time this morning as I worked evening service last night.

@mamaofami Hoping things get ironed out with Sam’s caregiver. We found it was a benefit to us that we hired an agency, as they got to deal with personnel issues. (We had a live in caregiver who told my Dad she needed him to drive her to the bus station about 20 miles away at 4:30a so she could go to Vegas when her week ended. Um, no.)

Today’s Wine Report from Cat:

(May she have a lovely day in Iceland)

(I wasn’t aware pink was a flavor…🧐)

*************

Piedra Negra Torrontes
The 2016 vintage has a very good rating and a very reasonable price, though might be difficult to find locally. If you live in Europe – you are in luck! $10.89 + tax n Belgium. Note: Other vintages are not yet rated.

Bodega Piedra Negra is the maker of this 2018 Lurton Piedra Negra Torrontés , a white wine from Mendoza that is based on 2018 torrontés and has an alcoholic strength of 12,5%. The 2018 Lurton Piedra Negra Torrontés is the ideal white to combine with seafood and vegetable meals.

TASTING NOTES:
View: Straw yellow, green reflections.
Nose: very fresh nose with notes amoscateladas intense memories of pineapple and pink.

Mouth: pleasant mouth, round and lively. Aromatic aftertaste with floral notes.

@mamaofamihope you can get the issue ironed out.

We were in Bordeaux in 2019 (same time as @StLouisCruisers) for an overnight stay.  I’ll try not to repeat pictures.

On day one we headed to wine country - St. Emilion, etc and sampled wines in 3 different wineries, visited the ancient town and ended the day with champagne.

The wineries are all gorgeous properties

And when you sample, the food that accompanies the tastings are really nice.

Continuing in our old town as we were exploring.  You needed that railing on these cobblestone steps.  It was fine going up but coming down could be slippery.  Amazingly, many of the locals didn’t need it.

I took a picture as I didn’t want to forget where this place was.  We were on a Walking tour and our guide told us about this wonderful spot with very reasonable wine tasting and delicious food.

Bordeaux is very walkable.  A lot of areas are pedestrian only.

This is the Bar de Vin I was talking about.  Yes a few of us intrepid ones went back there after our walking tour was over

Hey Jacqui @kazu thanks for the pictures I saw some very familiar faces on them , from our Prinsendam cruise . We were also at that same winery that you showed which had been purchased a few years back by a Chinese company .

BTW we just had a nice email exchange with Andrea last week and might be cruising with her again next year .

The Bar de Vin had  great offerings and tastings.  Quite reasonable, too.  Our guide was right.

Not too far in the distance:

The Prinsendam “parks” right downtown.  Along the board walk - very easy to get to her.  The road is across the street for the tram/train/taxis and cars.

One last look at Bordeaux before we leave:

And, of course we had to go under 2 bridges.  Timing and tide is everything (as well as a small ship).

Nice on cruising with Andrea again, Tony.  She’s always a joy to cruise and tour with 🙂
