Hi everyone,

It’s time, and, true to form we changed our plans just yesterday. I hope you’ll follow along. It will be a bit disjointed, as my posts for the next week or so will have to be published via cellular internet in the ports, but once we get on the Majestic Princess, there will hopefully be daily posts.

Frankly, it’s all kind of a dream right now.  I’m so ready for this!

Glad you are able to cruise earlier than planned!  Please don't forget about our M&G at 10 AM on August 9th in the VIP Gaming Lounge.  I've enjoyed reading your posts for some time and would love to meet you.  Enjoy your HAL cruise!

Started reading your blog. YAY!   I love your blogs and always follow along. Enjoy the HAL cruise before your Majestic cruise.  And leave the Majestic in good shape as I will be boarding her here in LA in mid November for a mexican riviera cruise.  Looking forward to your Alaskan adventure.  Bon Voyage J & G ....

Hooray!!! 🎉❤️🎊

I really wasn’t sure you would cruise again!! So excited to have your blog to read. Looking forward to hearing your take on both HAL and Princess. As you know, we have become HAL converts since they keep doing those wonderful South Pacific cruises round trip from San Diego. We have two booked for 2022. But we will be doing our first cruise since 12/19 on Princess October 31, 2021.

Wishing you smooth sailing and fantastic times in Alaska!

Cheers, Denise

Following along!  Love your writing style so am so happy you’re doing this. Can’t wait to hear more about the Majestic since we’ll be sailing on her this December.  Have a great cruise!

Looking at your itinerary it only shows 4 hours at Icy Strait Point. Sounds awfully brief! Looking at your Majestic cruise it looks like the "normal" 7 day Alaska that doesn't visit that port.  You said you've never been to Icy Strait Point so I hope you can cram enough into the 4 hours in port. We're supposed to visit there and Sitka on our May cruise. We've never been to either of those places. Fortunately we have long port stops. 11 hours in Icy Strait Point and 10 hours in Sitka.

Following along on your blog.  Looking forward to what you have to say about these two ports.

I think I would be about as thrilled to meet you and G on a Princess cruise someday as the group that got to spend quality time with Jan Swartz the other evening on the first voyage to Alaska.  (I am aware you are sailing HAL, followed by Princess on AUG 8).  😉

Hi everyone, unbeknownst to us, our T-Mobile cellular is useless in Alaska. We have no service at all and no WiFi on the Nieuw Amsterdam. However, we are sitting to a fire pit on the rocky beach at Icy Strait Point before sunset and found WiFi with a whopping 2Mbps upload speed. I’m managed to drink beer and upload three posts (they’re rough, with no editing) simultaneously. Today was a beautiful day in Glacier Bay, weather has been fantastic. I will try to upload again in Sitka tomorrow and will definitely get caught up in Seattle on Saturday. Thanks for your patience.
