Airport transfers?

Hi.  I hope I just didn't miss an obvious thread, but I couldn't find the answer.

My sister and I are on the Summit in November, and we'd like to use OBC to book an airport transfer to Fort Lauderdale airport (cruise is based in Miami).  Is there any way to do that?  I don't see it in the cruise planner.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have not seen that option in the Cruise Planner.  You have other options; you can use a Uber or Lyft which are cheaper than a taxi.  There may be shuttle services that can get  you from Miami to Port Everglades.  You should go to the Home Port Boards and ask on the Florida boards to find the best way to get from Miami to Port Everglades.

There are a few shared shuttles that will get you from FLL to POM for about $15+ per person (SAS, MJS, Go Airport, etc.) but an UberX or standard Lyft should be about $35+ for door to door service (taxi on the same run will be about $75+ on the meter).

Have a great cruise! 😎

Thee shuttle services are always available and they are free most of the time. Moreover, they are way more comfortable and you can always meet other people (passangers) on the way heading the same direction so that you wont get lost

We did the same thing you are proposing a couple of years ago.  We had lots of OBC left and on the next to last day went to customer service booked the transfer from Miami to FLL.   No problems, bus was parked about 100 feet outside the terminal.   Be advised, make sure you have time as the bus will wait to fill up and may go to other terminals before yours.   We had loads of of time so no problem.

Abby -

Celebrity offers transfers to both FLL and MIA   If I recall you can buy on-line if booked with Celebrity or have to use agent if booked with agent.    They also sell tranasfers on the ship.

My experience is that you can get an Uber or Lyft for 1/2 the cost of Celebrity as Celebrity charges per person as opposed to Uber and Lyft by car.

The cost of Uber is $45 -55   (Just checked the app and did a mock booking $45.50).

You will find that you can book transfers to either airport.  Good idea to make the arrangement early on to get it out of the way.  Your daily will include a note similar to the following a couple of days before your return date.  The prices will, of course, be reversed since this one was for a FLL return:

Yes you can definitely use OBC to book a Celebrity transfer. It doesn’t appear in the cruise planner, you must provide your flight information on board and they will make the arrangement to get you to the correct airport at the correct time.

Since you are wanting to use OBC, advice about Lyft and Uber and so on aren’t really on point

thanks to you and to all.  We'll wait until we're on board and use the OBC.  I'd rather use OBC, since I always have to burn it off in the stores, or casino.  The interesting thing is we'll have to fake a flight, since we will have a reservation at an airport hotel for the night.  I think we'll just tell them the correct flight, but wrong day.

In addition to just the straight transfer, there might be an excursion or two that you can do that will drop you off at FLL (there are for my upcoming Summit sailing).  That's just another option if you are willing to spend your time and OBC in that manner.

you book airport xfer while on ship.

when i was on equinox (ft lauderdale), they had airport xfers to both ft lauderdale and Miami airports.

i'm going to assume it';s the same if you dock in miami

I’m not sure if you can use OBC for transfers.  But we found it cheaper to take a taxi from the airport to the pier.  It’s $20. You don’t have to wait for the bus to fill up ( not that they are doing that because of Covid) & found it easier.

Thanks, but keep in mind it's miami to fort lauderdale.
