The man (mid 40s) destroyed his room. He was escorted off the ship in Port Canaveral. His partner had to purchase a plane tix home & a car service to get him home, pay for the destroyed room (shocking how much that cost!) & pay medical before they allowed him off the ship. He’s been banned from RCCL.

The young women (mid 20s) was continuously loudly berating her mom (who was lovely & embarrassed) & staff, charged her mom’s account a crazy, crazy amount of money, left her mom’s room & moved into the man’s room who had just paid for his boyfriend to get off the ship with no legal charges filed & then accused him of stealing from her. Security came once again & she was escorted off the ship in the Bahamas. Also banned for life. All involved met in the casino bar the 1st night so I guess they were sorta cruise friends. It was one bad decision after another. Both mom & boyfriend stayed on cruise to continue their vacation.

The captain graciously didn’t discuss it. But the boyfriend pretty much told anyone who would listen what happened. All parties were in the casino nightly, as was I, so I witnessed their behavior personally & had gambled with mom & boyfriend for several nights before all of this happened.

RCCL was very discrete about all of it. But all parties involved were very vocal about what occurred.

DAYUM.  😮

(thank you for the eyewitness account)

Cat food, such as canned purina fancy feast is a huge problem.  I havent been able to get my cats their choice flavors for quite sometime.    Lots of folks have been scrambling for various items.   Plus prices for just about anything  keep going up up up!

@Smq123. I will be on a b2b on Anthem starting March 20th I hope they have plenty of rum and mint leaves for my mojitos!!   What type of drinks did you have problems getting?

No Pinot Grigio, no Captain Morgan, no champagne, no pina colada mix, no mango daiquiri mix, no Michelob Ultra, no Chardonnay in restaurants, no Guinness, no RCCL cups for soda until Port Canaveral and then no syrup in the soda machines. No oranges for freeze squeezed OJ. bottled water also became scarce. Some stuff reappeared at various points in the cruise but not everything.

It wasn’t life or death but it did become somewhat annoying. On the glass half filled side, it was fun to try new suggestions & new drinks. I felt bad for the staff who insisted we write letters because they were frustrated having to deal with guests that were VERY annoyed & felt they were on the front lines with guests who were aggravated & vocal about limited & non-existent supplies despite being reassured everything would be restocked in Port Canaveral.

I was on the cruise, the liquor wasnt the issue, her mental state was. Been on 20 cruises never saw such a wackjob. There were quite a few characters on this one.

Agreed. At one point when her mom cut her off & removed her ability to purchase anything, she loudly screamed she was throwing herself over the railings of the ship. She was most definitely on the radar of the officers, crew, and guests. There was serious pathology there. It was sad to see.

I had fresh squeezed OJ every day of the cruise in both Windjammer and 270 Cafe. Syrup for Freestyle machines would runout and then replenished yes some were not working.

oh good lord. I’ve always considered Cruise Critic a master class in cruising & have tremendously loved learning about cruising from experienced cruisers. I wasn’t complaining. I’m not a big drinker under the best of circumstances. I was simply trying to inform my fellow CCers that things were limited and/or nonexistent on Anthem.

Mr. Cheng, you are my guru for understanding anything maritime & I’ve enjoyed learning from your experience & wisdom. Your contributions are invaluable.

I’ve been on 3 NCL cruises since cruising has resumed and I never noticed any supply issues. I’m sure there were several but it wasn’t as glaringly obvious as on the Anthem.

As I said in my original post, everything we’re been through & are currently going through since March 2020, I think we are an adaptable bunch of humans. I’ve seen glorious moments of human kindness & compassion. BUT, if you’re traveling on the Anthem in the upcoming weeks and quite possibly, months, be aware that the Anthem is showing the strain of the pandemic by tightening their budget and enduring limited or nonexistent supplies.

What??!! Say what??!! 😜😉 I wish that golden nugget would have spread as quickly as the soap opera saga.  Lol. I wish I had met you on the ship! I would have enjoyed fresh squeezed OJ. I’m not a soda drinker.

I had a long discussion with a gentleman who was very upset he couldn’t get horseradish on the ship. We had it in the main dining room every night (when we ate in the dining room) & told him so. His reaction was priceless. I felt like I had reunited him with a long lost family member.

Again, all of this is trivial. Just trying to give a heads up those that are interested. None of mentioned issues were deal breakers. We all had a fabulous cruise and enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you for your information.  To me, the best reviews are not the ones where "everything is great" or "everything was bad" but the reviews like yours where - "hey, it was pretty good but here are one or two areas that could be improved".

Hopefully this is just a case of Anthem increasing passenger capacity faster than it's suppliers can keep up and fingers crossed it was just a temporary blip.

That's very likely the comment that led to her removal.

I believe the cut off is 1030 or 11 AM for the fresh squeezed OJ. I have to admit I was completely blind to any shortages on board because I’m not really a drinker and when I first boarded I ordered a mai tai and since it tasted so good I just rolled with my that all week literally I didn’t even have one beer.

Baby girl isn't a minor -- she can figure out her own way home, IMO!!!

Remember, as someone mentioned the baby girl was tied to Mama's credit card. Unless it was her boyfriend that bailed her out of Nassau.

Where have you been living for the last two years?  We have empty shelves in every store that are not caused by "cost cutting".  What is available one day is not available the next day.  Businesses have for the last couple of decades been operating on the "just in time inventory" principal.  This states that inventory on the shelf is money that is not earning, so you keep just enough around to meet immediate demand.  While the supply chain was working smoothly, this principal worked.  Now that there are too few truckers, too many empty containers in the US that can't get back to China to be refilled, and too few workers for warehouses, this entire house of cards collapses.  It is going to take years before life returns to "normal", and businesses like cruise lines are going to suffer shortages for this entire time.

It's going to get much worse before it gets any better.  Gasoline prices are going thru the roof, with no relief in sight.   The only plan is to temporarily remove the federal excise tax on gasoline.

My SIL who works on Wall Street was telling me last night that message on his phone oil prices were rising to $120+ a gallon.  That's not good for inflation or economy.

An 68 year old male had an sudden cardiac arrest while in the IFly tube and did not regain consciousness on the December 12 2021 Anthem cruise. Very sad for everyone affected.😪

Yes definitely, but I can think of much worse ways to check out.  What a way to go!  Instead of in a hospital bed strung out on drugs as my SIL just left us.  Wish she would've been having a blast on iFly.

We usually travel with another couple and my friend likes crushed red pepper on some things. We have taken 5 cruises since startup, the last on Mariner a couple of weeks ago. Many nights she asked for it in the MDR on all the cruises, and it was sad that they tried so hard to get some, but they couldn’t.

While on Mariner she finally went to Sorrentos and asked for crushed red pepper and brought that to MDR each night. I think for now on she’ll just bring a baggie of red pepper to dinner😳

People who complained were told it was a “distribution problem.” HA! IMO, it was a cutting cost problem & not stocking enough for a cruise because of the variability of ship occupancy from cruise to cruise.

It could be a distribution (supply chain) problem, or have you not been food shopping recently?

Random things just flat not available at times.

Remember too, a ship is in port for a few hours. If deliveries are held up even a short time, they may not make the ship.

Yours is the only report I have seen of any serious shortages over the last several years, so it seems was probably a one off issue.

We did have a cruise several years ago where the ship ran out of cachaca (used to make caipirinhas), and I was surprised that they did not just buy a case at the next port.   But the next cruise, I ended up meeting the beverage manager and the food and beverage manager (next step up) and hotel manager.  I mentioned the previous cruise and running out.  And I was assured several times by each of them that they checked the supplies and it WOULD NOT HAPPEN again. 😄

For on board spending, until she was cut off.  We do not know if she had or did not have any other resources.

Strange.  When I have asked for something that they did not have, they have searched for it and if it was on the ship, they managed to get it to me.

When they ran out of cachaca, as I mentioned. They actually went around to checked every bar and brought the only bottle on the ship to the pool bar (where we get most of our drinks) so it was availalbe until it was empty.

Let's hope they are able to restock Anthem as capacity increases this Spring.  I suspect our b2b starting march 20th will have a lot more passengers than current sailing.

I wasnt going to bring 2 bottles of wine this trip but maybe I should.

It is really a shame that people give the crew a hard time when unable to get exactly what they wanted.   They should Grow up!!!   We are all dealing with supply issues on land!

They did search for a  long time, our server was wonderful, just couldn’t find it.

I’ve noticed that in the 5 cruises we’ve taken that at times they didn’t have the Chardonnay I prefer in some bars, but had it in others….same with some drinks. It didn’t bother us, just something I noticed.
