Susan in Maine Posted March 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2022 So we won or RoyalUp bid. But the new cabin is in a location I really REALLY don't want - it's the one right next to the elevator and stairs. What do I do? Our sailing isn't until 4/17 Susan
SWACruising Posted March 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2022 You should be able to change room location within the same upgraded category if one is available. Contact your TA or RCCL if booked directly.

Rare cruiselvr04 Posted March 22, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2022 Sometimes they will tell you their is nothing available and then you are stuck. It happened to us a few weeks ago. Don’t be too concerned about being close to the elevators. It’s rarely noisy except on Radiance class ships where the centrum is open. Even then we’ve been fine.
HicksRA Posted March 22, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2022 I always choose a room as close to the elevator as possible. Don’t like walking down long halls. I’ve never been disturbed by traffic or noise. Maybe try it this one time and see what you think? 13
not-enough-cruising Posted March 22, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 22, 2022 If you aren’t comfortable booking a “guarantee” stateroom in the beginning, then “Royal Up” is not for you.
shipgeeks Posted March 22, 2022 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2022 When I last did RoyalUp, it specifically said that if you win your bid you will not be able to change your new room assignment.

rockmom Posted March 22, 2022 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2022 It's always the risk you take when submitting for a Royal Up. There's no going back if you don't like what they give you. So you should always look at the deck plans for your ship to see where the rooms are located for the type you are bidding on, and find the one that is the absolute worst location for you--and if you can live with that you bid, if you can't, then don't take the risk and don't bid. As others have said, you MAY be able to move if there is another room in the exact same category (such as a J3 to J3 or D4 to D4), but you have to call (your TA if you booked with them, Royal if you booked directly). If there isn't another room in the identical category, you'll be stuck with the new room. They make that very clear on the Royal Up page.

LaCal Posted March 24, 2022 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2022 We actually request cabins near the elevators when booking saves long walks and never had noise problems
SargassoPirate Posted March 24, 2022 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2022 There's usually a reason "upgrade" or "Royal Up" cabins are available. Like not-enough-cruising said, if you are not comfortable booking a guarantee cabin, maybe Royal Up is not the way to go.
Rare John&LaLa Posted March 24, 2022 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Always try and get a cabin near elevators
Joseph2017China Posted March 24, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Why bid if you aren't willing to accept your winnings? I got the email, but I am really fine with my location on the ship, and really don't need to spend extra money for a bigger room, rather use it for drinks, food, and fun in the ports.

mjkacmom Posted March 24, 2022 #18 Share Posted March 24, 2022 We always get cabins as close to the elevators/stairs as possible, no noise issues. I hate elevators so I do enough walking without having to go down long hallways.
Rare island lady Posted March 24, 2022 #19 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Only time we have had a "not so great" experience with cabin near elevator is booking too close to Centrum on Radiance series. The centrum acts like a chimney... wide no door entrance to casino pulls smoke out and up into centrum and disperses it up through the floors near the centrum. Plus can get noisier at night with band in centrum. As long as I try to book a couple of doors down, it's usually not a problem. We are currently on EX, just two doors from stairs/elevator area. Don't hear a thing from the elevators, but do get more foot traffic.
maria1122 Posted March 24, 2022 #20 Share Posted March 24, 2022 We always book suite near the elevator. You cannot hear any noise because there is a wall separating the elevator and quest rooms. It is so convenient.
lovesthebeach2 Posted March 24, 2022 #21 Share Posted March 24, 2022 We usually always get a room right off the elevators. Never been an issue for us.
dcgrumpy Posted March 24, 2022 #22 Share Posted March 24, 2022 I chose not to bid on Royal Up because I don't want to lose my cabin right near the elevator and stairs. LOL
Another_Critic Posted March 24, 2022 #23 Share Posted March 24, 2022 We need a Royal UP "I'm not satisfied" match/swap thread. 😄 Disgruntled #1: I hate my cabin in the back ... too far from the elevator. Disgruntled #2: I hate my cabin next to the elevator; I'd rather be in the back. Ding, ding ... we got a match, let the swapping begin. 4
Susan in Maine Posted March 24, 2022 Author #24 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Our new cabin is still NEAR the elevators. My problem with this particular one is that when you get off the elevator or stairs, turn to port, and walk straight ahead, you would walk into the door of this particular cabin. (#11236, Anthem of the Seas) This was my first opportunity to bid with Royal Up. My apologies for not knowing all the nuances! My choice is usually to get a cabin that is in the middle of the corridor - I like the walk, and I appreciate the quiet. Clearly I wasn't going to turn down the upgrade - I just had a question. This is the same as buying a gty and not liking the cabin assigned. Most here will say to call and get it changed. With ships sailing full again, someone will be in that room. If you won't accept the assigned cabin, pay more and pick your cabin in the first place.
