According to itinerary Coral Princess was due in Port Douglas today - 30 June. Is it still in Cairns? Anyone know why?

Announced last night that poor weather conditions in PD weren’t favourable yo tender in yo port, so they decided to remain in cairns overnight. Leaving 6pm tonight to go via Willis island and back on track to return to Brisbane 7am sunday

Interesting. Thanks for that. We wondered if it was the weather. Disappointing for people on the cruise and businesses too.

For some of the local businesses and foot traffic, indeed.

Anyone already planning a tour, the operators would come down to Cairns to pick them up. The ship tours for Port Douglas still operate from Cairns as well.

Our tour was cancelled and the money refunded immediately to our onboard accounts. An alternative was offered if we wanted to book. We decided we would use the extra day and go to the aquarium (so did a lot of other people). There was about a 10 minute wait to get in, it didn’t feel long as the line kept moving. There was lots to see and learn. 2 of us booked to do the turtle hospital tour for an extra $18. It was absolutely wonderful, the staff’s passion shone bright and it was amazing to be so close to such a beautiful creature. 89884670-992D-4C20-B85E-1020D1F72EE1.thumb.jpeg.664f634ab028a4c74692595bed838ff0.jpeg

Good to hear feedback on the Cairns Aquarium, when it's our turn to cruise (22nd - this month, yippee) we plan to walk to the Aquarium and then go for a dip in the lagoon, if it's not too cold 😀

Thanks for the info on the aquarium - we are there on 12 Aug cruise so will look at that as an option. We are booked on the reef trip out of PD so hopefully the weather will be Ok for that.

Great pics Geoff, having been on her twice, Alaska and Panama Canal, some years ago, she is a fine vessel. Best in the Princess fleet in my opinion.

She looked great from across the Hunter River yesterday. Quite impressive.

This is a great Video of Coral's arrival into Newcastle.

It is indeed. I have stood in those spots before, excited watching the arriving ships. Horseshoe Beach is always an incredible spot, as it is in this video. Sadly I was at work this time.

I hope the dolphins haven't disappeared. You will often see them jumping up alongside the bulbous bow of the cruise ships, but I can't spot them here. Hopefully they haven't forgotten, and they just aren't used to visiting ships in winter.
