I just bought 100 shares today. I’m hoping they will grant my OBC for my November cruise. The price of shares is so cheap right now I couldn’t resist.

Once you have your statement you can apply.  One thing that should be said is they often turn down those who are sailing on a casino promotion or similar.

do you know what part of the statement needs to be redacted? Clueless here.

I redact account number and any other shares listed that are no one’s business. I also redact cost, price, etc…. Basically I leave my name, my brokers name and the number is shares

you can redact everything but your name and the ticker and share count. feel free to redact as much or as little otherwise. definitely redact other investments, account numbers, etc. you can also use a trade advice if you prefer to do that.

that's not really the case any more, they went through a few months where they were more strict, but then if you re-applied recently they granted them.

You must redact your account number for your brokerage. Everything else is up to you.

Thank you. Wanna get the obc before the stock gets to 0. 😝

Tading below $1 for 30 days is essentially the point of no return - at that point it can be delisted from NYSE. Although in theory shares could continue to be traded over the counter should delisting happen.

I have watched the dismissal of shareholder benefits over the years.  There used to be hundreds of companies offering a benefit now there are only a handful.  They started disappearing when the mailed annual report disappeared.  My favorite was going to the PepsiCo meeting and coming home with two big bags of snacks and beverages.  Now that my schedule is loosened up I may have to attend again to see if they still have the “loot”

This came to mind when I think of you going to a pepsi convention and walking around with loot

I think I'm going to wait until that fed rate hike gets announced and maybe the whole market will take a little plunge for a day or so. Could be a chance to pick up some CCL for even less $ than what it would cost today.

I wonder if the 2022 Q2 GPD results will show that we are in a recession. July 28th is fast approaching.

I don't know but my crystal ball says that if we aren't already that we're going to be soon enough. When "housing market" is trending in my google search every day for a month that's gotta mean something. I've seen speculation of 8%+ mortage rates coming by 2024 but who's to say what might happen between now and then?

I wouldn't be surprised if the market has basically priced that in already - we know there will be a rate hike in September, it's just a question of how much (most likely 75-100 basis points).

Additionally, if Carnival has debt at fixed rates, the rate hike doesn't do a whole lot other than affect financing on any new loans - the only ship on order that hasn't started construction is the 2025 Sphere class ship for Princess. It will limit the potential savings from refinancing, although posting a profitable quarter or two would likely have a bigger impact than the change in interest rates.

Carnival today running about $8.60 per share.  Purchasing 100 shares about $860, then if you cruise and get the $100 OBC (7 day cruise) your essential share price becomes $7.60 per share (less if you cruise more than once per year).

IMHO, stock price will languish as any significant increase in price due to increased profitability will become an opportunity to sell more shares and reduce the debt undertaken during the COVID shutdown.  Look at what they just did as the stock hit $11, they sold $1 billion of shares.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Enjoy the cruise and the OBC, it will be the best payout for awhile.

Currently sitting at $10.52 after a   >11%   gain today.

Yowza - I had to go take a look. An "easy" $5k gain in just one day... I'd bail now (jk), but I'm not yet even, let alone in the black! 😐

It's looking a little better every day. I bought another 500 shares on 7/27 at $8.54, even though I  said that I was going to wait for $7.00. There must have been some good news that day for me to buy instead of waiting.. I'm still trying to make up for my buy at $27.81 and $21.47 in 2021.I had sold most before that for a good profit. I have to get to $13.90 now to start making profit again. Good luck to everyone. 🙂

I'm getting a pay-out as I'm leaving my job. It's enough to pay off my 25 day cruise in 2023. Tempted to use part of it and buy 100 Carnival shares. The only shares I own are in my  401k. Never really got my feet wet in the stock market. But, I plan on cruising a lot over the next decade of my life. 2 trips a year minimum.

Will cost me around $1000. So it'd take me around 5 years to get my investment back. it seems tempting. In the end Carnival shares can recover and come in handy for when I finally retire in 40 years.

If you'd bought it in the $8 range a week or so ago you'd be up around 20% on it today.

Can't you show them you have the required stock holding in your 401K and use that for the credit without buying more stock?
