Good morning all!
I'll be sure to give DH an extra kiss this morning in honor of kissing day.  We both like fried chicken but don't have it often.  And as a Washington State native, we have a joke here -- you can tell the tourists from the locals because the tourists carry umbrellas! 😉  Like others, I much prefer hoods so my hands are free.  Our rain is usually just a drizzle.  If it rains hard there is usually a strong wind, so umbrellas would be useless anyway.

I agree with the quote, and like the meal, drink and wine.  We were in Geiranger once in 2019 on the Nieuw Statendam, the beginning of our 65-day anniversary cruise(s).  We took the tour that went on Eagle Road and up to Mt. Dalsnibba.  I'll try to post some photos that haven't already been shared.

We had a great time yesterday afternoon at the Seattle Aquarium with the DGSs.  I can't believe we had never been there -- DD's family have a membership, so they have been there often -- in fact DSIL at one time was one of the "Santa divers" in the big tank.

Today will be spent getting groceries in preparation of having the boys here overnight next week.  My how those boys can eat!!

@Ichiban NekkoI'm impressed with your move and downsizing.  I know it's something DH and I will have to do some day, but I'm dreading it.  You do make it sound almost easy!

@marshhawkYou are not crazy!  Good for you, you will love that cruise!  The Med is my favorite place to cruise, I'm looking forward to your impressions of that area.

@StLouisCruisersI'm so very sorry to hear about Buddy.  Prayers for him, his family and friends.

I hope your sister and her husband recover from their Covid cases without incident.

It is so nice that people are gathering  around to help Amy and Buddy.

Thanks Terry.  My BIL has some lung issues already so I hope he can fully recover.  And it's very nice of her community to come to Amy's aid.

That certainly is sad news. Prayers for Buddy and family. I know that my brother-in-law opted for home hospice when he knew the end was approaching. The familiar was what he craved.

Susan

Absolutely.  I'm sure he will be much more comfortable at home.

Sandi, I am sorry about the sad news about Buddy.  I hope hospice can give him the comfort he deserves.  It sounds like Amy, the family, friends and members of the church can help make his final days peaceful too.  Familiar surroundings with friends and family should also bring him comfort.  My father also wanted his last days to be at home.  All the outpouring of help renews our faith in our fellow man, especially in the wake of all the tragedy lately.  Amy, Buddy, and the rest of the family will be in our thoughts.

Lenda

Thanks Lenda.  It's so heartwarming to hear of the help she's getting during this crisis in her life.  And the kindness to Buddy.

Good morning everyone! It’s 58 degrees, overcast and light fog. Seems like all the days start off like this. Today we are going to go experience some local sights. One being Tilamook Creamery, local lighthouse and a roadside picnic lunch.

Yesterday was pretty much of watching the surf, reading and later a shrimp Alfredo delicious dinner.

Prayers for all who have relatives and friends with illness.

Have a great day

Well, this is a sad news day.  Last week when I got home from our cruise my twin told me she and her DH had gotten Covid.  She had been trying to help her daughter Amy out at her house because of Buddy in the hospital having the spinal surgery and beginning treatments for his latest cancer (lung cancer in his scapula and spine).  Twin feels so guilty (which she shouldn't) that she can't be of more help until they test negative.

But the news the last couple of days on Buddy has gotten worse.   He now has cancer in his liver.  Today Amy announced Buddy is coming home today or tomorrow for hospice care.  He absolutely wants to be home at the end. 😢  Friends have begun a dinner chain and will provide them a hot meal every night through July.  Her church will help out with her electric bill and ambulance bills which run $900 per trip.  Today's trip is the fourth one.

It's hard to fathom a just turned 50 year old going to meet his Maker so soon.  Prayers for Buddy, Amy and their kids are appreciated.🙏

Sending  lots  of  prayers.

Welcome. And thanks for posting.  I'm in the same boat thinking how fortunate I am compared to allot the great people here with medical issues.  Thanks again for posting

Don't forget about the Norwegian disaster film The Wave.  It is about a mountain collapse that causes a giant wave to crush Geiranger.  It is good for a rainy afternoon. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3616916/

@StLouisCruisers Sandi, I am so sorry to hear of the turn for Buddy.  Most people prefer to be in the comfort of their own homes at this time and I am glad Buddy is able to be there.  It sounds like Amy and Buddy have a great community that will be there for support when they need it.   Prayers for Buddy and the family that hospice can make his final days peaceful and comfortable.

@marshhawk Congratulations!   You will love it!

Thank you for the Hump Day report, Rich.  Greetings from Halifax, which I think is where Zaandam will be tomorrow.  Rainy here but will be too windy for an umbrella, much like @Crazy For Cats in Sydney.  Been to several Norway ports but not Geiranger.  Interesting selection of days and I like the Emerson quote.  The meal sounds quite nice.  My alternative is Carrot and Mandarin Salad, Medallions of Pork Filet, and Carrot Cake as served on QM2 July 5, 2022.

Good morning Dailyites.

Dear Sandi, I pray that Buddy finds peace in his last days. It is so scary when the time draws near. I'm thankful for all the folks coming to their aid at this time.

Jacqui your flowers are so beautiful!!

Roy looks like you are enjoying your cruise. Question: is Staff Captain Sebine still on vacation? How long do they normally get to be off their ship?

Last night we went to Dukes and I had the pork shank. I ate the whole thing washing it down with an ice cold lemon drop martini. I'm still stuffed this morning!

After I give my sweet husband a great big kiss, we are going take a drive downtown Lahaina. I'm looking for a purse in particular,  but may see a few more things I want. Beautiful weather.

Prayers,  Cheers and Blessings

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

No one here to kiss. I like good fried chicken (my Mother's in particular), but haven't had any in many years. I think most people lose or don't use umbrella covers, except for patio umbrellas.

The quote is true. I've never had turkey scallopini. I take the drink and pass on the wine.

I haven't been to Geiranger or anywhere in Norway. Thanks for the pictures.

It is hot and humid here. We had some rain overnight (I didn't hear it) and now it's sprinkling. We need a good soaking rain. I took 25mg of Benadryl last night and 50mg this AM an hour before my shot. So we'll see how the local reaction goes. Of course I may be sleepy today from the Benadryl.

@dobiemom @Vict0riann  Safe travels.

@kazu Thanks for the flower pictures.

@grapau27 Great looking lunch, as usual.

@dfish A normal parathyroid hormone in the setting of high calcium is abnormal; it should be suppressed. Is the Endocrinologist doing this evaluation? Thanks for your Geiranger pics.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for the pictures. Sorry to hear DS and her DH have Covid. Worse news about Buddy; I'm so sorry to hear this. Many prayers for Buddy, Amy, their children and the whole family.

@Ichiban Nekko It tires me out just reading about your move to the rental.

@rafinmd Enjoy Halifax!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Excellent pictures. Thanks.

@marshhawk That sounds like quite the cruise you planned.

@ger_77 Very nice of you to take the young lady in until she can get into student housing.

@Cruising-along Nice photos of Geiranger.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

My two cacti are ready to bloom any day. The one with one flower bud had one last year; the one with 2 buds had none last year. They bloom at midnight and the flower dies the next day.

Afternoon all, I just wanted to give an update on my hand situation. I believe I mentioned the PT sent a request to the neurology dr in Hershey about Botox , it took 3 weeks to get a reply . I had a phone call this morning and r the first available appointment is February, 😱 I called the PT and he said that is unbelievable.
   On the good news front, my nurse practitioner sent a referral for a hand specialist and I now have an appointment for July 18. the dr is in the same building as her.🤞 I am hopeful he can get an answer.

We made it to Halifax in the pouring rain.  Sorry Roy won’t have a nice day for touring here.  Now we have 6 hours to wait for our flight toLondon.  I think we will just hang out here, rather than heading out into the weather.  Pat has gone on a recce- a lot of places seem to be closed.

@StLouisCruisers, sorry about Buddy, I’ll pray he is comfortable.  And for the rest of the family.

@marshhawk so excited for you,   Greece is one of our favourite places, glad you seized the moment!  Happy to answer any questions I Can.

I agree, if there is nothing they can do to improve your outlook at the hospital, the best place for rest and peace is at home.  The hospice care people will make sure he is comfortable.
