ARandomTraveler Posted November 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2022 The weather for my western Caribbean cruise during Thanksgiving week looks terrible 😭 40% - 70% rain predicted every day at every port stop (through Tuesday Nov 22nd which is as far in advance as I can see right now). I would convince myself that could mean there's just a possibility of a quick afternoon shower, except that today's Nassau weather shows 70% rain, and it's currently raining right now, with more rain expected in the afternoon. So those 70% rain days aren't looking good. Has anyone been on a cruise where it rained the whole week?

twins_to_alaska Posted November 13, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2022 Thanksgiving week!? 🙂 Forecasts aren't often accurate morning of. Good weather could become bad and bad could become could. Try not to worry. There will probably be plenty of hours of good weather.
Tlbecker1 Posted November 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2022 I have experienced bad weather for the entire week on an Alaska cruise.
PhillyFan33579 Posted November 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) Years ago on a 3 day cruise out of Port Miami, it started raining late Friday afternoon and it literally rained the entire cruise (at least when I was awake). That is the only cruise I have been on where I literally never went to an outside area of the ship for 2.5 days. It was still a fun cruise though. They added a few more activities inside like showing movies in the theater and more musicians playing at several bars in the afternoon. However, not sure if it would have been as fun if we didn’t have the drink package. 🙂 Edited November 13, 2022 by PhillyFan33579 2
Rare Tree_skier Posted November 13, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2022 I think anything beyond 5 days is just a wild guess. 6
barbeyg Posted November 13, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2022 You can’t go by weather predicted that far out. Heck, our weather forecasters can’t get two days out correct, much less that far out. 🙂

We had a 60% chance of rain every day on our August Western Caribbean cruise. It was sunny every day. Enjoy!
DirtyDawg Posted November 13, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) It's November in the Caribbean, its going to rain. Just pack an umbrella and a rain poncho. As Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said; "Into each cruise some rain must fall." 😁 Edited November 13, 2022 by DirtyDawg
Rare OCSC Mike Posted November 13, 2022 #10 Share Posted November 13, 2022 Same as Florida, can't trust the forecast that morning let alone this far out.
Cruiser 5452 Posted November 13, 2022 #11 Share Posted November 13, 2022 People misunderstand this part of weather forecasting. When you see 40-70% rain. All this means is that there is a 40-70% chance of rain. It doesn’t mean that it will rain 40-70% of the time. It could rain 10 minutes or 6 hours. They are only telling you the chance of rain for that day.
bucfan2 Posted November 13, 2022 #12 Share Posted November 13, 2022 Rather than 40-70% chance of rain, go with 30-60% chance of no rain if it makes ya feel better. 2
STIguy Posted November 13, 2022 #13 Share Posted November 13, 2022 I’ve had excellent weather during lousy forecasts and lousy weather during excellent forecasts.

LOL! And the 30%-60% + chance the OP won't run into a category 4 hurricane on the cruise either. 🥳 Edited November 13, 2022 by DirtyDawg
la_croisiere_s'amuse Posted November 13, 2022 #15 Share Posted November 13, 2022 To answer your question ... yes. 🙂 These were from a December 5-day cruise on the Mariner some years ago: If cruising were once-in-a-lifetime thing for me, I probably would have been pretty disappointed. But the crew made the best of things, and so did we. Not a bad cruise, overall!

PompeySailor Posted November 13, 2022 #18 Share Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) I can see INDY and FREEDOM from Pr1MA, not raining in CocoCay or Stirrup Cay, might be a 4% chance it rains tomorrow 😉 Edited November 13, 2022 by PompeySailor
ARandomTraveler Posted November 13, 2022 Author #19 Share Posted November 13, 2022 Thank you everyone. Sounds like things could really go either way. I'll set my expectations accordingly and just go with the flow. Hoping for sunshine and a good tan, and some floating in the ocean, but I'll settle for 7 lazy days at sea if the weather is bad. 3

Depends how old and healthy. I think I’d take my 30 year old working self over my hopefully 70- 80 year old future retired self any day of the week. Cruises were insanely fun at 30.
SargassoPirate Posted November 14, 2022 #22 Share Posted November 14, 2022 There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Look on the bright side. A little rain helps clear the Melonoma Deck of chair hog nests.

FamilyCruiserUK Posted November 14, 2022 #25 Share Posted November 14, 2022 I do feel for you. We are UK and as we have to fly over and its expensive only tend to cruise the carribean dec-early march. Just a better CHANCE of the weather being good. I know there is no guarantee but its still a good shot. I would hate to pay all that money and for it just to rain all the time.
