Good morning to all. I think we should follow Debbie’s example and spread kindness. The world at this point in time seems to be full of nastiness and I sometimes despair. The last recipe looks very good and may show up for dinner at our house if the executive Chef agrees. I have both asparagus and mushrooms available.

Our visit to the second specialist regarding an aorta problem was encouraging. This doctor felt that the situation could be monitored and that he is already taking the necessary medication. He did say there was a procedure used frequently that can repair the ulceration with a graft if it comes to that. We all hope it does not come to that. It was a very happy car ride home!

We went to Newfoundland on the VOV but not that port. I would like to go back there some day as it was very beautiful.

Today we are interviewing a young woman who had worked with Tana years ago. I hope for the best as it is frankly a lot for me  at this point and I really do need more help.Fingers crossed!

It is windy and cooler today but the sun is shining. I will take the pups on a long walk when it hits 38 or so around noon.
Have a great day everyone.

Fantastic news about your husband's results from his specialist visit Terry.

I hope the young lady you are interviewing is good and she looks after Tana really well.

Graham.

Good morning from sunny St Petersburg where it is 77 at 10am.  Bike ride to follow.

A nice email from Holland America yesterday with "Legendary Journeys" advertised.  Some new and some old.  I'm pleased to see our new President Gus Antorcha returning   to the longer itineraries that I am hoping yet to do.  The 28 day Alaska cruise next year is selling so well, no inside or oceanview rooms are left!

Enjoy your day wherever you may be today.

Good morning.

There is no need to be nasty any day. Happy International Women's Day (working or not)! I love English and grammar and in high school used to proofread papers for friends of my DM who were going for advanced degrees. Good quote. The meal sounds interesting, especially the lower carb versions. I'll pass on the drink and take the wine (if someone else pays).

I've never been to St John's, NL.

It's sunny but chilly here, starting in the upper 20's. No big plans today. I slept well; after I posted the Cares list (from bed), I fell back asleep for another hour! Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment, and just got an email from PennDOT that the main highway I use will have up to 15 min closures both ways Mon-Fri for work on a bridge that crosses it; until June! Arghhh!

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for starting the FR/Daily up.

@lindaler Thanks for checking in!

@ger_77 Great message to the Daily women!

@Lady Hudson I hope there's no issues with Anthem that interferes with your cruise.

@rafinmd Good news on your test results, that your feet swelling is improving and you slept better!

@smitty34877 Good news from the specialist DH saw; I hope no procedure is ever required. I'm glad to hear that this person will be an aide to Tana, and give you all a bit of a respite.

@Cruzin Terri I hope you're feeling better today.

@marshhawk I've been meaning to ask how DH's vision is doing.

@kazu Thinking of you.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

Good Wednesday Morning Dailyites!  Computer says its 55.  Yesterday I was wearing shorts, and tomorrow I'll be back in sweaters.  Spring in Paradise.

I made pot toast in the crock pot yesterday, and DH said it was delicious.  I read all the stuff that you suggested to go into the pot roast, and while I had the horseradish on the side, I added tomato paste and a package of onion soup mix, taters, baby carrots and a sweet onion.  Lots of taters, so I used a couple and made home fries for breakfast.  So thanks for all the tips, I used them all.

I over slept this morning.  If that's possible, just really making up for all the times I got up because I drank way too much coffee and water late last night.  Slept until 8:30!  OMG.  And I went to bed before midnight, another OMG!  I have tweaked my schedule so that I am not working so late, but still getting in 5-6 hours a day.  And I added in a day off, during the week.  This took away a lot of stress.  While changing your daily life up once in a while, you get exciting, when it is the same thing over and over, it becomes stressing.

Nasty Day? Just leave this thread.  It's a jungle out there.  I wandered into another thread this weekend and became snarky in 5 minutes!

Good morning everyone!  I have the luxury of using my laptop which is so much easier to use.   Happy International Working Woman's Day!   Today they had several beautiful cakes in the Lido to celebrate the women that work to make things work for us here each day.

Sandi thank you for starting us off every and to Vanessa for doing our cares report.    We are cruising the Amazon and will cross the Equator today.   It mentions Neptune Ceremony on our bi-weekly entertainment report but no details in today's Daily Program.   We are hoping to enjoy the last of the Amazon from our balcony this afternoon.  I worked out early today and had a Lido lunch.  South America is behind us, we were given our passports back to us today.  @lindaler We don't share your same emotions we really aren't ready for this cruise to end.  It has been great.  We will have many more days until we sleep in our own beds because we drive.

Last night we were late leaving port because of a tour bus breakdown and it blocked the other HA bus behind it.   It took an hour to get another bus to the spot and they all had to load into one bus to get to the port.   I think we were 2 hours plus behind.     Have a wonderful day!   No photos other than Canaletto food porn from last night.  They are on my phone.   Nancy

@JazzyVDH says thanks for asking, he says that the eye is better, he never had good vision in his left eye, but since it is now his only working eye, this was a scary time for him.  He goes back to see the doc on the 27th.  There is a lump on the edge of the eye, not sure what that is, it was not there before the surgery.  Maybe we will get an answer when we go see her again.

Thanks for the Daily, Sandi.

Thanks everyone - but have no worries - I’m alive.  Just in a bad place right now between this time of year and having to provide death certificates and wills again. 😔  Today’s quote is quite fitting for me right now.

I’m trying to keep up with roll calls and spread sheets for cruises (all of which - other than one) that i am no longer going on -  not the most cheerful thing to do.

Just don’t seem to have the energy or ability to keep up with the daily and don’t feel like posting cheerful memes.

I guess I will be nasty though - it’s not International Women’s Working day - it’s International Women’s Day - a global event which celebrates much more than working women.  It’s a celebration of our social, economic, cultural and political achievements and marks the call to action to improve women’s equality world wide.

I’ll be back when I am in a better mood and more cheerful.  Thanks for caring. 🤗

That is wonderful news.  It deserves a party time!   Also great news about DH's aorta condition.

My walk was wonderful.  I was worried I would lose my stamina for distance over the winter and was anxious to get out there again.  I can say that I was a bit more tired than I remembered, but I did it with no major problems.  I want to work up to longer distances before our cruise this summer.  There are some places where I want to do some hiking.  We're not doing hiking excursions as I fear holding up the group, but will seek out areas where we can hike independently.  I figure if I could make it up 832 steps at Watkins Glen Gorge a few months before my last knee replacement, I'm not quite ready to hang up the hiking poles.

@kazu Thanks for checking in and letting us know what's happening.  We understand and we're ready to help lift and support when you are.   Hugs.

@marshhawk Glad you enjoyed sleeping in today.  And it sounds like good news about DH's eye.  Keep it up!   Oh, your pot roast sounds delicious.

Ok, time to put the shoes back on and head to the store.  Later, all!

Good morning all!

Will pass on being nasty.  Don't we have too much of that every day?  I just sent happy Women's Day messages to our DD and DDIL.  Proofreading....probably my biggest pet peeve (besides nasty people).  It's so easy to proofread before hitting "send" but more and more don't bother to do that.  Ok, off my soap box!  🙂

The quote is a good one, will pass on the meal, drink and red wine. I would like the last recipe IF I omitted the mushrooms...is that allowed since it's a main ingredient??  🤣  We went to St. John's on the VOV in 2018 and had a very nice day.  Photos below.

Terry @smitty34877What wonderful news about the aide starting on Monday and also the encouraging visit with the 2nd specialist!

Sending gentle hugs to Jacqui @kazu

We were in St. John's in 2018 on the Voyage of the Vikings.  We took an all-day tour that day.

This is a photograph I bought while there.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks @StLouisCruisersfor the daily report.  Cheers to all working women, the backbone of world economies.  I’ll make a special effort to proofread all that I write today and skip nasty day.  There’s too much of it out there already. Nice quote by Ms. Angelou.  The meal and drink sound tasty.  I haven’t been to today’s port but hope to soon.  Praying for all of you on our prayer list, hoping that you improve soon. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events including my friend Rob who is flying to Buenos Aires today to embark on a two week cruise on the Westerdam.

Suggest you tell Rob to check his flight.  The Westerdam is in Okinawa today.

Good morning from a cloudy and cooler central Texas.  It is 59F and the high will be 64F.  It's been a busy morning with errands and miscellaneous chores.

I try very hard not to be nasty everyday.  @cat shepard  Ann, I laughed at the mental picture of Rich @richwmn  sitting at his computer with a, do I dare say, "nasty" smile on his face as he wrote Be Nasty Day.  I'll definitely celebrate working women including those who work taking care of the home and family.  As I've said before, proofreading is not my strong suit since I sometimes read what I meant to say not what I actually typed.  I do go over my posts carefully though.  DH is good at catching my errors, but often it is after the edit window has closed.

An interesting quote by Maya Angelou.

The pictures of today's meal look wonderful, and I'll save one of the recipes for later, just not sure which one.  DH might like the drink, but I'll pass.  The Pinot Noir sounds good, but pricey.  I guess I'll just stick with my cardbordeaux Pinot Noir.  😄

We have been to St. John's, Newfoundland, twice on BHBs.  Ironically, we were on another BHB Koningsdam both times it was the port of the day, and I did not post any pictures.  I'll post some pictures in a few minutes.

@lindaler  Linda, it was good to hear from you and enjoy the remainder of your cruise.

@ger_77  Gerry, thank you for your wonderful words to all the Dailyite women.

@dfish  Debbie, good news that you did not lose your stamina over the winter.  Since I've been trying to walk everyday, about 1-2 miles, I found that the yard work the last few days was not as hard on my legs and back.

@Lady Hudson  Katherine, I hope they get the engine problem solved and your sister cruise is not affected.

@rafinmd  Roy, you are sounding more like yourself everyday.  I'm glad the tests did not reveal any problems, and I hope the next CT scan shows there is nothing of concern.  It's good that the swelling in your feet is improving.  It seems to take longer for swelling to subside that to appear.

@smitty34877  Terry, I'm glad the specialist wanted to take the conservatives approach with your DH.  That is good news that the woman you interviewed will be taking the job.  👍 👏

@marshhawk Annie, I'm glad your DH says his eye is better.

@kazu  Jacqui, thanks for checking in since we do get concerned when we don't hear from you.  I can understand not feeling like posting at times though.  ((((HUGS))))

@Cruising-along  Carolyn, thanks for your pictures from St. John's.  On our first visit there, we were also greeted by a Newfie, but I didn't get any pictures.  I agree there is too much nastiness away from The Daily.  That's why I often don't read the other threads and stay off FB for the most part.

Good morning and Happy Wednesday. I like to think that I’m good at proofreading but sometimes I miss things. It does irk me when I see an error in something that was published, especially a book.  Thanks to all the women who make this world go around, each in their own way.

The meal suggestion sounds good but we are having rabbit ragu over spaghetti. I found a container of it in the freezer yesterday. It’s one of Craig’s favorites.

St John, NF looks beautiful and I wish I was going there soon. Andrew Zimmern has an episode of one of his shows about the food. If you have Discovery plus you could probably find it to watch.

Have a great day everyone!

We've been to St. John's, Newfoundland, twice.  The first time in 2003 on Rotterdam VI, we took the Ho-Ho.  The second time was in 2019 on the Veendam.  We learned the Ho-Ho was gone, so we took the city bus that made a one hour loop.  You had to be prepared to stay an hour at any stop or to walk, and we spent an interesting hour at Cabot Tower.

I have enough pictures that I'll need to divide them into two posts.  Both posts will be a mix of pictures from both visits, and there will be a couple of repeats.  I apologize in advance for the quality of some of the pictures.  In 2003, it was cloudy with occasional rain and fog, so some of the pictures, especially distant shots, were not every good.

The Ho-Ho from 2003 and the local bus from 2019.

There is enough nastiness in the world without my contributing to it. Last night I had a Zoom meeting that I thought would be nasty enough to require brandy after it, or possibly during; I was glad that it was on Zoom because it is really hard for people to attack each other physically over the Internet. It wasn't quite as bad as that but I was still ready for Calvados at the end.

I edit a publication that has three proofreaders but sometimes a typographical error mysteriously appears after it has been printed.

Madeira Chicken might be OK. No on the drink, probably yes on the wine. I haven't been to Newfoundland except for Gander Airport. I could post pictures from Saint John, New Brunswick, but too many people would know they were wrong.

Jacqui, I hope things start looking better soon.  Hugs from all of us.🤗

Very nice photos of St. John's Lenda.  Strange how you were cruising the last two times it was port of the day.  We missed out!

Lenda thanks for the pictures. Brought back great memories of our port of call visit.

To All. Just received a call from my Doctor’s visit of a week ago. Drum Roll Please! I’m still cancer free from my bladder cancer of six years ago! 🙏 Of course, always the possibility it could pop up somewhere else but will deal with that at another time.

Dinner party with our dear friend at our house tonight and she’s doing the cooking. Her famous shrimp and grits. So good and the shrimp was harvested last night.

Thanks for all the contributions large and small to today’s Daily.

These are the rest of the pictures from St. John's.  There is no particular order, and many are just scenes of St. John's.

An intersection near several restaurants, one of which, a group of us ate lunch in 2003.  The choices for our group were lobster or fish and chips, and both were good.  In 2019, we didn't remember which restaurant was the one where we had lunch.  The restaurants were just around the curve.  There was an interesting statue in the intersection.
