More later I need to calm down and take deep breaths after today.

So glad you made it, Greg & Linda.

I was beginning to fear that another delay will time out the crew, and then another pilot wouldn't find his FOB, and....you'll end being just in time for "all aboard" 😉

Another land shark.  Got to be careful before they bite back. I think the lime is the shark fin. That’s why my eyes are seeing.

Let's face it, your eyes have been seeing things since being in bed this morning looking at the fan.

Someone over on Oasis FB group said they were told their delay was due to a rocket launch. I looked at this. Would this cause all flights in Florida to be delayed?

I flew AA @ 11:25 & had no problems though we did fly into MIA @ 17,000'. Never flown that low in a big plane. Good flight though

Found “ The Tavern “ a few blocks from our hotel.

Decided since I do not know what the next week could be in the way of fluid’s hydration to stick with decaf coffee.

Ok. No decaf. Really. A busy place like this.  Ok so I’ll move up in the world.  Water.

Now to order something they probably ran out of.

You can tell you are staying at a very nice hotel when the front desk host gives you a chilled glass of champagne.

Most of you have heard the horror story of Hampton Inn and Suites Miami/Brickell downtown walking us and canceling our reservations even though we confirmed them earlier in the week.

Linda should hopefully hear back from Hampton to make sure they don’t charge us. Unfortunately when we scrambled to get another hotel they required full payment since it was the day of and they were full.

AKA hotel in Brickell is really beautiful and it should be for $800/night. At least we get complimentary breakfast.

Dinner tonight at “Dolores but you can call me Loleta.” Hostess says it really good. More later I need to calm down and take deep breaths after today.

Good to see you are settled in. Nice hotel for sure!

I wonder if the Mints are to put on the pillow before or after using the other items 😱

Going to be tough getting ours out of the little holes

Boy South Florida traffic truly stinks.  It took us 6 1/2 hours to get here from Disney, should’ve been about 3 1/2.  The worst was from Palm Beach area to Miami.  But we’re checked in at the Hampton Inn Miami Brickell. I was pretty worried after what happened to @Sea Dogbut no issues.  I’m still going to be mad at them for Greg though 🤣.  Getting changed and off to Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita for a cocktail then dinner.

My dad was stationed at Quonset Point! Did you go to North Kingstown High School? That was a fantastic place to be a kid in the 70's! Loved it!

I was in schools in East Greenwich (the town just north of North Kingstown).  We had lots of sailors' and SeaBees' kids in elementary school before the Navy pulled out in 1970 or so.  EG was a great place in the 50s and 60s!

We made a stop in Fort Lauderdale for lunch at 15th St Fisheries, then hit the traffic heading south to Miami.  Thought DC traffic was bad, this definitely rivals it.  Checked in at our hotel, went "cheap" out by the airport with free parking.  Everything is packed, ready to be on the ship.  A few pics from FLL.

Greg, I can't believe the grief you've had to go through just to get here, let alone the c*^p you got from the hotel. You guys definitely deserve any and all the cocktails you consume tonight to help relieve the stress.

We feel really good as we thought our day was going to be a nightmare originally. They had predicted heavy rain and wind changing to snow before our flight. Ended up with very light rain that stopped before we took off at 6:00. We actually landed in Miami 30 minutes early. After retrieving luggage, Uber had us at the hotel in less than 15 minutes. Hotel stored our bags at 10:00 and said our room wouldn't be ready until 3:00-4:00 so we went for drinks. 20 minutes later, I get a text saying our room was ready.

Tomorrow, we will drink together and forget all about Saturday, March 11, 2023.

I noticed my hotel said check in after 1 pm. That's very early compared to normal texas hotels. So no complaints.

I've also never ever had one of these and actually never been close to one. What are the handles for. Very wierd imo.

Finally fInished catching up on all the posts.  After reading about Greg’s travel day, I almost feel guilty, but my flight from LAX was early, and other than turbulence and poor service, no issues.  Arrived at my hotel about 10:00 am and stored my bags.  Walked to a nearby restaurant for something to eat, and when I returned, my room was ready.

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow.

I looked for you at the restaurant but did not see you. We left right at 7pm. Incredible meal. Highly recommended this restaurant. Glad you had no issues. Linda finally talked to hotel manager who blamed the problem on computer glitch. We are getting a credit. Linda is still going to go after them and pursue more. She was masterful arguing with the manager. Pleasant but very firm. I love her!

Inquired about transportation to port. This Hampton does not provide any type of transfers.
Cab $60ish

Uber starting at $40

Decision. Decisions.

Definately Uber.  If you encounter any traffic and or unusual delays getting to baggage drop off the meter on the taxi keeps ticking.
