Good morning to all. I am open to trying things on sticks but no bugs please. Cats here get a lot of respect. DSIL told me the other day he could not vacuum the living room as all four cats were sleeping. Oh my. He is too nice!

I would love to see the port of the day and thank Sandi @StLouisCruisers for the pictures. Stuffed shells are nice, that is a dinner possibility.

Garden weeds are a pain to deal with. I have a question about the other type. Why is the smell so strong and skunky ? I honestly don’t remember such a strong odor back in the day…..

We are once again without an aide as our newest one took a job that pays better. Although I completely understand I just feel like crying, something I usually save for  sad movies and commercials. Hospice people have tried to help but there are not a lot of folks lining up for such a difficult job. We have reached out to other local family members to help at least temporarily as I have to continue to get DH to his medical appointments.

@RMLincoln, Maureen, prayers for you and your DH as he has his surgery today. I can’t get the blue bubble to work.

I'm so sorry to hear Tana's aide has left Terry and you still have to get your DH to his medical appointments.

I hope your local family members can help you.

Graham.

I concur with Terry @smitty34877.  Hugs to you and your family.  Prayers that your search for a good aide is short and they work out well for you.  You have your hands full with all the medical appointments.  {{{{hug}}}}

Good morning,

The bright yellow ball will be shining all day and for the next few days. It will be great to be able to get out and walk.  The wind will be down as well until Friday. Welcome Spring!  I bought 3 new pairs of travel pants at Scheels last week. I like to shop there where they hem the pants for free. I hope they are done before I head to Tucson. They make travel pants with zippers look much nicer than they used to. I love my pockets especially on a cruise.

Luckily we had an in depth refrigerator discussion I hope it will help @lvhh

@smitty34877I am sorry to hear you lost a great caregiver. This journey you are on sure has twists and bumps.

@RMLincolnIt is always nerve wracking when a loved one has any type of procedure. Especially when they make you sign the forms with all the complications that could happen. Luckily eye surgery is quick and you won’t have to wait long.

Everyone have a great day. Prayers for those in need.

Good morning everyone.  "Something on a Stick Day"?  Did any of you ever enjoy chocolate covered bananas on a stick?  We used to have them a lot as kids when we spent time on Balboa Island near Newport Beach.  Hadn't thought about those for years.

I'm so sorry @smitty34877Terry that you have lost your aide.  Praying that someone fills in quickly.  As you say, it's hard to get people to take the difficult job.  When we needed help with my mom, it was a constant scramble, but things never did totally unravel.  Don't cry.  Or do, if it helps.

@RMLincoln Maureen, thinking of you and your DH with his eye surgery today.  Prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery.

@Vict0riann, I hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly.  Nice that you were able to see friends and make lemonade out of lemons with the missed flight.  Wishing you a fabulous cruise.

We haven't been to Moorea, but would like to go there some day.  Yesterday we finally sat down and sorted out a quick trip to Idaho in June to visit our old neighborhood where we used to spend summers and see friends who we miss very much.   The trip is long overdue.

Prayers and best wishes are offered for those who are having difficulties, and hats off to those celebrating.  I wish the care list was shorter.  There's so much sad news!

Stay safe and enjoy the day, everyone.  Many thanks to the Daily Team.

Good morning, everyone!

It is going to be a beautiful day here in mid-Michigan.   The sun is out and the temps will be in the upper 40s.  Looking forward to my walk!  But, first the drain specialist is coming in a short while, so this has to be quick so I'm ready for him!

Stuffed shells is a favorite of many.  I generally skip them due to the carb content, but one shell wouldn't hurt.  They are versatile and you can stuff with almost anything.  Well, peanut butter might not be the best choice.  They are creamy and smooth and so comforting.   In this easy spinach and ricotta stuffed shells recipe, three cheeses combine with quick sauteed spinach, marinara sauce, and jumbo pasta shells for a hearty and comforting, crowd-pleasing vegetarian dinner.  https://www.forkknifeswoon.com/spinach-and-ricotta-stuffed-shells/

stuffedshellsspinach1.thumb.jpg.bea3aae8ccf5794bc6970805ecd9f51b.jpg

Those look so good!

These cheesy stuffed shells are the absolute best kind of comfort food. They’re loaded with a luxe combination of ricotta and mozzarella and a healthy dose of garlicky sautéed spinach, then baked in a bath of marinara sauce and melty cheese. Serve them with a simple green salad and your favorite Italian red, and you’ve got a dinner that’s sure to satisfy.  https://www.thekitchn.com/spinach-stuffed-shells-23242112

The magic of a little freshly grated nutmeg is most pronounced in dairy, making stuffed shells a perfect occasion to use this special spice that rarely sees the light of day outside of baked goods and holiday drinks. This recipe stays pretty true to the classic bluepriint because sometimes simple is simply better.

You can choose between Parmesan or pecorino cheese—both are delicious. If you want to switch up the regular mozzarella for some Fontina or caciocavallo, more power to you!   https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a37796304/stuffed-shells-with-spinach-recipe/

I hope one of these grabs your attention!   Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Terry @smitty34877, I am so sorry you lost Tana's aide.   It takes so much time to get one used to the procedures and it has to be upsetting to Tana too.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Sandi.  All the comestibles look like something I would like, thanks for doing these each day.  Prayers for all on our care list, the families of those who perished in the Nashville shooting, the storm damaged families in the south and the people of Ukraine.

A beautiful sunrise but it is 28 degrees.  The poor Robins are digging through the leaves to find some morsel to eat.    Snow expected tomorrow and again on Friday but not measurable.   This would really be getting old if we hadn't missed most of the winter.    We are heading to Battle Creek for my rheumatologist appointment.  We will probably stop for lunch somewhere on the way home.     Have a nice day!   Nancy

thanks for our Tuesday Daily, Sandi.

Interesting collection of days.  I think the only one I will celebrate is respect your cat day - but I confess, when I had cats - it was every day.  I detest weeds and weeding and can’t help but wonder how I will do it this year.

Interesting quote - I get it if it’s a negative thought but don’t think it should apply to all thoughts.  The meal sounds comforting, indeed.

Our visit to Moorea was not as nice a day as Sandi’s.  Due to bad weather and difficulty tendering, Westerdam had to change her itinerary and we arrived in Moorea on a different day than scheduled.  A very dark, grey rainy day.  We still did a bit of exploring despite losing our private tour with the date change, but the views and sights were pretty dismal.  I don’t think any of my pics are worth posting 😔

Not sure what’s on the plate today.  Everything got mucked up yesterday when the garage door opener didn’t work.  Youtube video and I decided the battery was dead and learned how to replace it.  (A job of DD DH’s)  It works now.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & the victims of the shootings & for those that need them and a toast 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a good Tuesday everyone !!!!!

This is a long shot. I have been to Moorea four times. Every time did the snorkel with stingrays/sharks plus picnic at motu. Three times had the same tour guide, one of the best tour guides ever, a man named Terry. Did anyone else have a tour with Terry in Moorea?

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I like some things on a stick - kebabs, marshmallows, hot dogs, but will leave the critters to others.  DH is always fighting the weeds in our lawn; it's a never ending battle when your neighbours don't take care of the dandelions on theirs.  Respect your cat day?  Sochi wouldn't have it any other way!

Dang, we're back in the cold again; right now we're at -31C with the wind.  I sure hope the robins don't make an appearance, they're going to be shivering in the trees, I'm sure.  Last week we had the little finches come back, so we went out and made sure the feeders were topped up.  Poor little things must be checking their calendars to make sure they had the return dates right.

@smitty34877I'm sorry your aide left you; prayers that you are able to find someone capable and reliant to give you some respite.

@RMLincolnsending hugs to you and prayers for DH's surgical team today.

I have to tell you that last night's dinner was a hit with DH.  I told him the salmon was going to be a little different than what I usually prepare (I used mayonnaise instead of Dijon mustard) and there would be a different topping - the strawberry/basil relish.  He wasn't sure about it, but as soon as he tried it, he loved it!  As he was enjoying last night's dinner, he suggested we should serve it to guests next time we have someone over for dinner.  The only thing I would do different is add more basil to the strawberries, as I love the taste of basil and found there wasn't enough for my liking.  The only fly in the ointment was that we forgot to buy fresh green beans, so I had to substitute with canned - DH didn't care, as he loves them.  Here's what our dinner of panko crusted salmon with strawberry/basil relish, parmesan potatoes and beans looked like last night:

Salmonwithstrawberryrelish.JPG.f970da1aefb1db96254f2e7f121732a0.JPG

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but DH has been working on a project for a couple of years - in conjunction with the University of Saskatchewan Music Department - where he is creating a database of musicians and composers from around the world with their birth and death years.  So far he has over 50,000 entries - this keeps him out of my hair when I'm doing other things - and is always looking for more.  Now I know that some of my Daily family members are musical, as you've said you were singers, etc., so if you've ever sung public, or played a musical instrument, I'd love to add you to the database.  All I need is your first and last name, and the year of your birth.  You can email me at  ger underscore 77 at yahoo dot com and give me your screen name so I'll know who you are.  You could put Cruise Critic Music in the title that will give me a heads-up on the email.  Seriously, I'd love to hear from you!

Not a lot happening today, so will finish off my 10th blanket and get it packed up, as tomorrow is the day everyone is dropping off their donations.  I've got a small pork roast that I'll put into the crock pot along with a bottle of barbecue sauce and we'll be enjoying pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for all who are in need, especially for the people in the senseless killings at the school in Nashville.  I have no words for that.  Cheers to all with celebrations happening today.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

Stuffed shells are a favorite  here. In fact, I just bought some shells yesterday. Publix has been out of them for awhile.

We have been to Moorea twice. On the Eurodam in 2019 and the Noordam in 2022.  First time was very nice, beautiful weather  Last time it was cool, rainy and not so nice. like @kazu described.

@RMLincoln Thinking of you and DH today. Praying for a successful outcome and quick recovery,

@smitty34877 So sorry that you lost your new aide. Hopefully you will find someone quickly.

Off to Orlando today for a cut and color. DH doesnt understand why I cant find someone here. I have been going to my guy for 25 years, cant change now.

 Stay safe and enjoy today

     Charlene

Slept in to the sound of rain and more in the forecast. Made myself spaghetti aglio last night so the house smells  rather garlicky this morning. Just heard from DW that it is raining at Half Moon Cay so a bummer for many.
Weed day! Who thinks this stuff up? I remember my grandmother picking dandelions in a field across the street and we would have dandelion greens for dinner. I heard one could make dandelion wine but never saw any. The greens were very tasty. The dandelions would stain your hands from picking. Now that goes back a few years.

Lots of reasons for prayers today. Slaying of innocent children, victims of storms and wars and our own here on the Daily with medical, care taker woes and those pending treatments.

Thanks Sandi for your faithful running of the Daily and all who make it our Happy Place.

Bruce

Good morning to all,  Happy Tuesday.

Thank you to all who make this thread happen every day.

Interesting collection of days.  That’s all I will say about that as well as the quote.

Have not been to Morea, although it sounds like a fun and lovely place to go.

I am looking for a quiet day today with little or no excitement so I can get going with the taxes.

My 7:30 am appointment with the glass man turned into a 8:10 am appointment.  Why am I not surprised?  Just make me get up early for no reason.  Anyway, he has come and gone and has promised that the shower will have a glass enclosure in “two to three weeks”.  Thank you very much!

@dfish Debbie, the food looks delicious, but I am going to pass.  Too many calories for this girl.  While I didn’t try to do it, all this stress has taken ten pounds off me.  I would like to keep it off.

@lvhh Sorry to hear about your refrigerator.  It is never a good time when these things happen.

I’m an expert at this stuff at this point.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for keeping us going and sorry about your leaking roof.

@smitty34877 Terry, I am so sorry to hear about Tana’s aide’s departure.  That is so disheartening.  You have so much on your plate.  It is especially hard when they get used to each other and then you first have to find someone acceptable and then hope they click and learn the routine all over again. Hope DH is doing okay.  Prayers for all of you.

@grapau27 Thanks for helping us understand the meaning of today’s celebrations.

@JazzyVVanessa, Thanks for the lists.  I am feeling better and think I can be removed from the cares list again.  Hopefully, you won’t have to put me back on.

Thank you all for the funny memes.  I enjoy them.  They light up my day.

Have a good day and

God Bless,

Terri

I forgot to mention to @marshhawk if you don't like something hanging around your neck, or tend to let it drape into your bowl of soup like I have, consider using a badge reel holder (available almost anywhere from the dollar stores to the office supply stores) to carry your key card on the ship.  I clip it to the waistband or pocket of my shorts or slacks and it's always handy.  Just another idea for you.

Drain specialist came and the drain is now working like a charm.  Only put me back $125.  I am rejoicing.

Speaking of drains. I had a plumber tell me one time to never pour milk down a drain as it builds up and will eventually cause a clog. I then remembered how many times I had poured spoiled milk down the drain.

Glad you got it fixed and that is my Heloise tip of the day.

Thank you to everyone who posts daily! I have never contributed but enjoy and laugh out loud at the memes and cartoons every morning, A great way to start the day!

Every day is respect your cat day in our house. Today I respected her by getting up at 5am when she was crying for breakfast. She’s long haired and doing a lot of eating and grooming lately which means something is coming, and it won’t be a stuffed shell!

It’s a cold, but clear morning here in Vancouver but should be sunny and warm up to 15C, so it’ll be a good day.

Have a lovely day everyone!

This is a long shot. I have been to Moorea four times. Every time did the snorkel with stingrays/sharks plus picnic at motu. Three times had the same tour guide, one of the best tour guides ever, a man named Terry. Did anyone else have a tour with Terry in Moorea?

I started keeping spreadsheets on our cruising back in 2013 because we were booking so many in one year, therefore I can tell you that in 2014 on Golden Princess we did a private tour in Moorea with Hiro tours.  I don't remember the name Terry.  The tour was set up on Cruise Critic with roll call member @gdynianka .  The cost in 2014 was only $60pp!  Lunch, snorkeling, rays and sharks, everything.  I wonder what inflation has done to that price?

God Bless,

Terri

We found out very quickly about Southern time when we moved to Georgia.  So when they say 7:30 they really mean whenever I get there.  LOL

Drain specialist came and the drain is now working like a charm.  Only put me back $125.  I am rejoicing.

Very happy to hear the drain is unclogged.  Did he say whether it was roots or what?

Thank you to everyone who posts daily! I have never contributed but enjoy and laugh out loud at the memes and cartoons every morning, A great way to start the day!

Every day is respect your cat day in our house. Today I respected her by getting up at 5am when she was crying for breakfast. She’s long haired and doing a lot of eating and grooming lately which means something is coming, and it won’t be a stuffed shell!

It’s a cold, but clear morning here in Vancouver but should be sunny and warm up to 15C, so it’ll be a good day.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Welcome to the Fleet Report and Daily!  It really is a great way to start the day.
