What's everyone's view on kids being allowed to run through the casino unsupervised?

Happened quite a lot on celebrity beyond last week.

Seems like the kids were bored and access to the lifts was through part of the casino.

I think their parents thought the crew were child minders.

Strange for a company selling itself as more premium?

Does this happen on other cruise lines?

I have only sailed celebrity in the last 20 years and this is first time I felt I was on a family cruise.

Even a crew member from the future cruise desk said they had never seen anything like it before.

My only comment would be, and I know I'm guilty of this,,,, is it possible that you didn't notice, pay attention to, or were less worried about what was going on around you 20 years ago vs today now that you're older?

I'm just sayin. I know I'm less tolerant today than I was 20 years ago. Getting older is not for the weak. 😉

They shouldn't be running anywhere inside the ship. But if they are casually walking through as a cut-through that wouldn't bother me (although I would imagine that the ship should care that minors are in there).

However, parents expecting others (whether that's the crew or other people) to watch their children is never acceptable unless the minors part of a specific program that the parents have enrolled them in.

We were on Zaandam last month.

My 2 1/2 year old grandson was a few steps ahead of us.

He stepped into the casino and a supervisor warned us before we caught up with him.

The entire scene took a few secs and everything was done with respect on both sides.

Twice (on different days) on our last cruise we were stopped in our cabin corridor by a very polite young lad of about 8 years old. On each occasion he asked what the current activities were because he was looking for his grandmother. Who leaves an 8 year old unsupervised and worse who leaves an 8 year old not knowing where you are?

Yes, that is certainly not good.

On the occasion I was with the future cruise rep, there was at least 6 kids upto around 11 I would say, looked they were playing a game of hide and seek, on Deck 4, running between future cruises and Cafe Al Bachio.

There was no parents with them. Hence the comment from the Rep. She looked genuinely shocked.

They were also playing in the lifts behind the Casino.

Of course, if you take children on an 11 night cruise on a ship, with very little for kids to do, then I suppose this is all they have.

It was such a bad look for Celebrity.

Just hope everyone notices you referred to him as a " very polite young lad". I do hope everyone realizes that no all children are wild, spoiled brats.

Wow...I just can't scroll on by without commenting.  I'm guessing Grammy thought that since they were on a ship, there was no where for her grandson to go missing.  It sends chills up my spine thinking what could have happened to this precious child in the middle of the sea on a ship full of strangers.

I wouldn't leave an 8 year old unsupervised on a cruise ship... but you want to know who leaves an 8 year old unsupervised? Almost every parent in existence prior to about the year 2000.

A cruise ship is obviously not an appropriate place for it, but this idea that kids need constant supervision until adulthood is so weird to me.

8 year olds should not be unsupervised anywhere.  What you might have done is flagged down a crew member to tell them that the child with you was lost and could not find his parents or grandmother.  This might have gotten his alleged caregiver in trouble - although I doubt it.

He had his cruise card/room key so technically he wasn't 'lost' and I assume he was in one of the family cabins a few doors up from ours, but I agree he shouldn't be roaming about on his own. All very well to say kids are on a cruise ship and can't go anywhere, but that doesn't mean to say he was not at risk given that with thousands of people on board one of those people might be 'dodgy'. It's not as though that hasn't happened before. In hindsight we probably should have found a cruise member or taken him to guest services to at the very least have his grandmother paged. Then again, hindsight is 20/20. Our bad.😒

Yep. My daughter was 9 on her 1 st cruise. She would go to kids club and we would have meetup points. ( That was 20 years ago )

Every person boarding a cruise ship should e notified prior to boarding the ship that nobody under  age 18 is allowed in the casino during the times it is open .The parents wil be subject to a $500.00 fine.

Of course there is a difference between "being in the casino" and transiting through the casino.
