Vaping in Casino on Equinox

The no smoking policy anywhere inside the ship was still in effect on our March 2023 Apex cruise. I believe this ridiculous policy change is as recent as late June.

Ditto for our April cruise on Beyond. No smoking/vaping allowed anywhere inside the ship.

This is so disappointing. We frequently cruise on Royal Caribbean and although we enjoy a little gambling, we never go anywhere near a casino on a Royal ship because of the stench. We will be complaining as well. This move by Celebrity kind of defies logic.

I emailed the executive office last night.  They're going to get tired of hearing from me but they keep doing inexplicable things. I hope they get enough negative feedback that the reverse this decision like they did with the MDR menus.

Wow...this is new to me....I will be on Millie next week so I will be looking for this sign to confirm. I understand Vaping doesn't leave the smell or residue associated with smoking but come on X, either ban it all or allow it all! I personally vote for banning it in all indoor areas.

Vaping absolutely does leave a smell.  I can smell it.  Most people buy flavored cartridges and I think that's where the smell comes from.  I have not found anyone who can tell me that the exhaust is only carbon dioxide CO2.  If you read up on it, there are by products which are not safe to inhale.

I do too. I will make my (our) voice(s) heard. It's not enough to make us stop cruising with Celebrity but it's enough for us to voice our disappointment with Celebrity's hair brain decision and we will annotate it on our PCSs and follow-up post cruise Emails. Well worth my time and effort. I use to say, RC and Princess needs to follow Celebrity's lead by not allowing smoking and vaping anywhere inside their ships and balconies. I guess I'll have to keep my big mouth shut, at least for now!

But that’s it isn’t it? Until people walk (and aren’t replaced) or negative press drives new people away, voicing displeasure has limited impact.

Remember 2 1/2 years ago when there were people who (exaggerating, but not much) would have paid to get on a ship in a Level A positive pressure bio safety suit? Calling or emailing can’t hurt, but if they pull up your account and you’ve got 5 cruises booked that you’re not canceling, so what.

They’ve done some things lately that I can rationalize on pure business terms. This really eats into their unique value proposition that separates them from other cruise lines. And now when you add all the changes up, I don’t get it. Arguably they even cut value if RCG decided to put Celebrity on the market.

Wow - we too choose Celebrity in part because of the smoking/vaping policy. We're heading out early next month - if this is the new policy in place on the Millie, it will likely be our last cruise on Celebrity after 10+ years of loyalty.

Speaking only for myself(and wife) no. What you or others do is all on them/you as we don't concern ourselves with others decisions.  We will voice our concerns, complaints. whines, rants thru Emails and PCSs but Celebrity still offers us a good product at a reasonably price. We cruised with Celebrity when they allowed allowed inside smoking. We aren't willing to walk away. Just like we still cruise with RC and Princess that still allows smoking in their casinos. We may not agree with it but there are other things in our lives we don't agree with, but will continue to make the best of what we like and adjust accordingly.  We've got two future Celebrity cruises, one future Princess cruise and will be booking a future RC cruise in October while on the Eclipse.

Definitely has a smell and has second-hand effects: https://www.heart.org/en/news/2022/05/31/in-secondhand-vape-scientists-smell-risk

And this lists some of the particles found in vape: https://allergyasthmanetwork.org/news/ask-allergist-secondhand-smoking/

Sadly, once it's allowed in one place, they will take full advantage everywhere.

In most cases they already are - thinking they are being so sneaky with it. But once it's allowed in the casino, they will not think twice about doing it anywhere and everywhere - and the crew afraid to enforce it only in designated areas for fear of getting complaints about them.

Which means that I will have to go to the Hotel Manager and Security Officer to enforce the rules and policy, such as it is...

I usually do not email them until I experience it first hand, yet with the photo and first hand experience of Abby, I was compelled to do so immediately...

Another action some of us can take is to go sit at a table where a vaper is sitting, put down some big money and at the last minute pull the bet and move away...

When asked about it, I would say that "vaping" bothers me so I decided not to play....

You are correct, I was thinking about the horrible cigarette smell as vaping liquids normally have a more pleasant aroma.

Couldn’t that hurt the vaper’s feelings?

A vapers feelings vs My requirements are definitely two (2) different things...

I would think in this case My requirements will win out... every time!!!

Nothing against the vaper, personally, just the action...

In health and bon voyage
