Good afternoon. Thanks for the commiseration on my back situation. This visit today at PT was to start pelvic floor therapy. Maybe that, combined with the regular twice a week PT to strengthen muscles and increase function, will help.

I've just been listening to the survivors and family of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting victims 5 years ago, as the verdict against the shooter just came back. It brought it all back and I had tears in my eyes. I was acquainted with 2 of the victims. Tu B'Av.

@Seasick Sailor Thanks for the suggestion, although getting down on the floor is something I can't do as it's an ordeal getting back up.

@mamaofami I'm sorry to hear this news about Sam. Prayers that he won't require surgery.

@bennybear Good luck with the credit stuff. A few years ago I checked mine and found someone had opened utilities in my name in Maryland! Then went into arrears and it was on my credit report. It took a while, but I finally got it straightened out and removed.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I'm glad the procedure is done. Safe trip home.

Thank you Rich, thank you Tina, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Sue's Stress Test went well and I will catch up tomorrow with the Daily.

Stay Safe, and prayers especially for everyone needing them today!

Holding Baby Murphy, Lorraine and family close in thought, also Sam and Carol- of course you’re nervous!  But you are not alone. Praying for Amazing!  And for Lenda and DH’s procedure.

Excited for Oliver’s new home day!

Home from eye doctor which was after dentist, busy day. My Teeth are good!  DH’s Eye is good!  We picked up Rx eye salve to do with his post-op drops, he’s not crazy about that but I’m sure i can do it for him. It’s all good. Pressures were down, vision is clear!  Amazing!  Blessings about!

Hoping for healing paths for @JazzyV and @marshhawkand DH.

We’ll just have to keep hope up for Baby Murphy and Sam!  Waiting is the hardest!

I’m taking the rest of the day off! Well at least after I make supper. Didn’t get a full sleep last night, hard to spiral down after any day at the hospital. Tomorrow will bring its own happenings.

Happy days to our cruisers!  M—

Good afternoon, everyone!

@mamaofami Carol, prayers for Sam.

@cruising sister I’m so sad to hear baby Murphy had a serious setback.  I feel bad for her parents who must feel so helpless.
@JazzyV Sorry to hear about the back issues.  I get down on the floor and roll from side to side.  Getting up was hard until I went to yoga with my sister.  I learned how to get up there.  Not too graceful, but it works.

@Seasick Sailor congratulations on being official parents to Oliver!!

@lazey1 Happy Birthday!

We had a lovely day in Corner Brook .  We walked the stream trail and then went for fish and chips.  Mmmmm

I don't think that anything is happening here for National Night Out, but I wouldn't be the first to know.

Years ago I taught a Torah class for an adult group that happened to include a lot of engineers. They were baffled by all the family dysfunction in Genesis and unimpressed by the high drama in the first half of Exodus, but when we got to the instructions for building the tabernacle in the desert, they perked up. It is the only class ever to ask me questions like "What is the tensile strength of dolphin skin?" and if they had had a CAD program that measured in cubits, they would probably have built the thing in the parking lot.

I don't think I"ll be having an ice-cream sandwich today. I like potato salad but what are we serving with it? I haven't enjoyed most Malbecs from Argentina, and so I might consider the non-vintage Soul Red from the Hector Wine Co. I haven't been to Skjolden.

With so many unfavorable medical reports today, here's a Jewish prayer for healing. It begins in Hebrew but is mostly in English.

Oh my. I was so sorry to see all the difficult and sad things that occurred today. We were at the infusion center the ENTIRE day and just got home. The pump was not working properly and we had to wait for the last infusion for several hours. The nurses and ancillary staff are just great and we had a few conversations with other people who were waiting. I was afraid I would lose my phone battery so didn’t have the phone on much.

Sending prayers for Sam and baby Murphy and their families. Vanessa I hope the PT  is helpful and I second Joy and Lenda about the exercise roll and lying on the floor. The PT can help you with getting up from the floor tips too.I have kept my back away from surgery for a long time by being vigilant with exercise. I injured myself in my mid thirties….along time ago!

I was very happy to read about Oliver and Ivan as well as Fancy settling in.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

It was National Night Out last night here. BFF used CAD in his work as an electrical engineer. I like ice cream sandwiches, especially using cookies, but haven't had one in a long time. Interesting quote. I like good potato salad (both traditional and German), but don't make it often just for me. Pass on the drink, yes to the wine. I haven't been to Skjolden.

It was a chilly start this morning at 58F. But will warm up nicely. We're getting smoke again from Canadian wildfires, but it will stay high enough in the atmosphere to not affect air quality, thankfully. Also I got a notice that mosquitoes with West Nile Virus were found in my town, so they will be spraying today. I have got to get a diagnosis and treatment for this low back pain; I can hardly walk to the bathroom when I get out of bed in the morning, it's so painful. It improves as I move around, but if I stand for any time, it comes back. I have PT later, but for something different.

@0106 Cute photo. Thanks for the recipes.

@StLouisCruisers Enjoy Corner Brook. Thanks for posting your photos and Lenda's.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Have a safe trip to and from Dallas. And prayers for DH's procedure to go smoothly.

@kazu Good news about Ivan! I hope the pain meds aren't necessary in the future. Hugs as you go about your business meeting with the lawyer.

@aliaschief I'm glad it wasn't a serious dental issue, but that was unusual.

@smitty34877 I'm sure you'll rest easier once the pump is off, for now. Maybe it was empty, so it beeped?

@ottahand7 Lovely flowers (and bees).

@RMLincoln I hope everything checks out for DH at the eye surgeon appointment.

@ger_77 Congrats on winning a GC with your photo! It was a stunning one.

@cruising sister Oh no, sorry to hear what happened when they took Baby Murphy off ECMO. Continued prayers for her to heal and be strong enough to tolerate being off, and for her family.

@Seasick Sailor Congrats on the adoption of Oliver!

@durangoscots Good news that your foot feels better.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Do you have something like this Mueller back support, Vanessa?  I wear it whenever doing heavy work or if I have a long day in the kitchen.  It’s good as a preventative, but also helps if bulging disks are acting up.  I’ve been known to sleep with it on.

Your problem might be something quite different, but thought I’d mention it.

Good afternoon from hot central Texas.  It is 105F now.

DH survived my driving home in Dallas traffic and on the Interstate.  I'm feel better about having to do it again in the future.  The road in Dallas was crowded, but at least we were out of there before rush hour.  The nurse who looked after DH before and after the procedure was wonderful, and he found out for me why it was taking so long.

It will be a while before we really see if the lumbar puncture will relieve some of the NPH symptoms.  When we were leaving the hospital, he was walking better, and the nurse even noticed the difference.  After the long drive home on our not so smooth roads, he was back to walking like he's been walking.  Because of getting so little spinal fluid and the time it took, we don't know of he'll need more tests, which would include 5 days in the hospital, before gettimg the shunt.  I guess we'll find out next month when we see the surgeon. In the meantime, we keep a diary of how he is doing.

Thank you all for your support and concern today.  Overall, while this is a big thing for us, it doesn't compare to what others are going through.

Vanessa, these shootings are hard to hear about but even more so when you know some od the victims.  Last year wuen a therapist gave DH some back exercises, she said if he couldn't get up from the floor, he could lie on the bed to do them.

Thank you very much to all who have posted Happy Birthday wishes. Actually it is tomorrow and I will be 82. My mind thinks I should be turning 28; my body thinks my mind is crazy. Could this be a form of dementia? The Good Lord gave me a wonderful early birthday present . Our heat wave broke on Monday. July was the hottest month on record in Phoenix, 30 consecutive days of 110 or over and a large percentage of these were over 115. The I07 and 108 days were wonderful.

I love potato salad and also have never used a recipe. I boils the potatos then peel and chop them, use 2 hard boiled eggs for every potato, some chopped onion, some chopped celery, dressing is Miracle Whip with some Guldens spicy brown mustard then salt and pepper to taste.

Prayers for all who need them including the ones who don't know that prayers are need. Specials prayers for Sam and Baby Murphy.

@Quartzsite Cruiser. Lenda,I am so sorry that I confused you with someone else.Your day sounded very long but I wish it could have  helped DH walk  better  more consistently.

Our ride was shorter but very bumpy as well and the patient was not feeling great upon arrival home.

I hope you both will sleep well tonight.

No need to apologize for confusing me with someone else.  It happena to me too.

Riding in the car for a long time makes walking difficult at the best of times.   After driving in traffic which we don't have, I was stiff too.  After resting for a couple of hours, DH was walking better without the walker than he has in a couple of months.  He didn't have any trouble with the dizziness in the shower and said he's "seriously better".  🤞Hope it keeps up so he won't need to have the slow drain test for five days in the hospital.  Of course over the month before we see the surgeon, things could start going the other way, but that's what they are looking for.

I hope your DH feels better and does not have bad side affects from the chemo.

Good Afternoon/Evening Everyone! It's been a busy day with the morning filled with the sewing group for our hospital comfort quilts, then some yard work and now to fix a birthday dinner for DS who is visiting from near Atlanta. And whenever he visits, I must make potato salad so perfect for this day. Dill pickles are a must along with eggs and celery plus a bit more pickle juice. I used to cook the potatoes and then peel them but found it easier and faster to peel and cube first.  Another too hot day for "rainy" Seattle area-blah! And still trying to figure out how DS is 51 already. Have a great evening.

@kochleffel Paul, thank you sharing the beautiful prayer. I certainly feel the strength offered here. My blessings abound.

@smitty34877 Oh Terry, you got through a long day. Hope you sleep better tonight. Your mention of talking with folks in the waiting room reminded me of my experience at MD Anderson cancer center waiting for DH’s treatments. I quickly learned that there were many folks who were on their 2nd, 3rd and more rounds of treatments. But I realized that the patients who had success treatments didn’t come back!  So I prefer to bring a book and sit by myself and hold hope that this round of treatment would be enough!  So far so good!  He’ll do his semi-annual blood tests in October.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, you also had a long day. Hoping you sleep well tonight and DH will feel much better tomorrow and not need the long testing.

@JazzyV Vanessa I hope you can get comfortable tonight!

Jacqui, the doctors are looking for improvement after the lumbar puncture, it is not ecpected to last.  It's just a diagnostic tool to help determine if a shunt will help.  Sadly, they really needed 30ml but only got 20ml, so we were pleasantly surprised with the quick improvement.  There was also improvement for several months after the second back surgery due to loss of spinal fluid.  We understabd they want to be as confident as possible before placing the shunt since it is brain surgery.  Now, it's just see what happens over the next month and keep a diary.  I'lI not be giving updates after today since it's the long term results that matter.

@smitty34877 sorry you had such a long day too!   Praying things  improve soon!
@RMLincoln glad things are going in the right direction!
@kochleffel love the prayer and the engineer story!
@lazey1 happy birthday tomorrow!  DH and I were just discussing how we don’t feel our age but….   As we think about buying another RV

dear garden club, just discovered we have some fire blight in our neighborhood which we don’t usually have to worry about.   Called the arborist,  so hoping we don’t lose any of our beautiful mature trees.   It has been so hot this summer that we are getting this.

hope all can get some rest!

No apologies necessary.  While I tried to explain things but keep it simple and short, it was difficult to include all the details.
