@marshhawk, Annie, I am so sorry to hear of Chuck's news.I hope the issues can be addressed soon. Also, I am sorry the food did not agree yesterday.I hope today is better for you both.

Yesterday  the doctors  visit was tiring but ultimately  helpful. The bloodwork remains problematic  and that is not helping the general situation. I am hoping we can get into see the oncologist  soon as there are a few suggestions  we would like to try.

It is a beautiful  day here and I hope to get out for a long walk.Enjoy the day everyone.

Good morning.

I am a bit late to the game, but thank you to Rich for the Daily and to Vanessa for the Cares and Celebration list.  (How did you know it was my birthday?  I wasn’t going to say anything). Thank you also to to Debbie for your wonderful recipes and Dixie and Ann for making sure we have plenty to drink.

I like the quote and have not been to the port.

As for the days, I can appreciate a Ginger Cat, but don’t have one.  I will pass on the Cherry Popover and the Tofu.

A big THANK YOU! To all of you who wished me a Happy Birthday.  I appreciate the good wishes.

I was a bit busy yesterday with the floor guy, who did not finish and will be back tomorrow.  He finished the bedroom but not the den.  Everything had to come out of the room.  Then we had to put it back together again.

Today we have to clean out the den.  That means taking everything down from the humongous computer station I have (5 pieces and emptying every shelf.  Emptying the bookcase and God knows what else so that it all can be moved.

This is not exactly how i expected to spend my birthday.  But it has to be done.

In the process the security motion monitor was broken and now I have to get the security people in to replace it.  That is $120 just to walk in the door.

More prayers for Baby Murphy.  This child and her parents cannot catch a break.

Prayers for all on the cares list and cheers for those cruising and celebrating.

God Bless.

Terri

It was still very pleasant and felt relatively cool for my walk.  I also had a nice chat with my neighbor who returned Wednesday from an extended motorhome trip to New England and down the east coast.  Their trip was cut a few days short because of Idalia.

Annie, I think stunk about yesterday is about as serious as you can get on here, but I think another word comes to mind.  I'm sorry @catmando Chuck got such a bad report from the doctor.  I hope they can get him cleared for the injection for his hip, and that he can see a oncology dermatologist for his arm soon.  I'm sorry you both had tummy issues after your lunch, and hope your are both feeling better soon.

Debbie, it sounds like you have a fun day and Farkle with River planned.  I hope the rest of the weekend is fun but not too tiring.

Penny, I'm not surprised at the port change, but I'm glad the ships are still calling at Maui since the island is so depended on tourist dollars.  It will be a different experience, but still a good day on Maui.

Maureen, I hope you have good luck getting the pressure meter linked with wifi on your cruise.  We've found that if you are planning on using the port's wifi, it works best while most of the passengers are on shore and on tour.  Once they start returning and their phones and devices start loading pictures to the cloud, the wifi usually slows so drastically that it's not worth using.  Hopefully your cell phones will work well in the ports.  An early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you since you will be traveling tomorrow.

I'm glad Barb is recovering even if slowly.  I hope the placing of the port and the chemo are not too hard on her.  Thanks for the update.

RNB, I'm glad you are your family are all right and without major damage.  I hope the cleaning up is completed soon.

Lenda

Thanks Ms Crystal,

Cleanup is completed. No major damage except for the storm surge. Can someone tell me who to call at Holland America to get one of their ships out of our lake.

Good morning all , another nice port today from Rich , Nagasaki , we were there on Oct 18 , 2017 on the Volendam . As a matter of fact we were suppose to go there for a second time a couple of weeks later but for political reasons , “ bad”  weather and an extra day in Shanghai our itinerary was changed and we had to cancel our tour for the second day in Nagasaki .

So our tour through Nagasaki was likely quite different than what many others have done , with our small group and Miyuki our guide we first went by streetcar to the Mt Inasa Observation platform ( 333 m )  to have a great view of Nagasaki and learned of its history.DSCN4206.thumb.JPG.666f7c87e474b09384d3a02791320461.JPG

From there we visited Dejima , formally a small island first occupied by the Portuguese and taken over by the Dutch . From this small island all the trade was conducted between Europe and Japan in the 1800’s .

This morning is somewhat busy. I have PT at 10:00, then banking, Costco, Fred Meyer, and a Starbucks stop. For my sisters, 2 nieces and their husbands, I load $10.00 on their Starbucks cards monthly as their Christmas gift. They are in Canada and I'm not so it works for all of us.

Once home it's time to start packing though I have that routine pretty well down after all our cruises to Alaska. Looking forward to being on a BHB even if it's raining!

Happy Birthday @Cruzin Terri!

I like ginger cats, but the actual cats here are black. I'd like a cherry popover, and I wouldn't confine tofu to the UK. BTW, in the 44 Scotland Street novels, there is a boy named Tofu.

Fish with curry butter might be OK, but I think I would prefer some other seasoning. No on the cocktail. Yes on the wine, or perhaps 2015 Osmote Seneca Lake Chardonnay. Most Finger Lakes wineries grow Chardonnay, but the overall character is very different from California versions, and also quite different from one winery to another. I haven't been to Nagasaki.

Good Afternoon, we checked in with Air Canada and printed our boarding passes.  While I had the printer warmed up I scanned my CCL statement and emailed it to add the benefit to our December cruise.  I got a reply in 10 minutes that the benefit was applied.  I’m impressed.

Good morning all!

I haven't had a ginger cat since I was a teenager ("George"), but we all loved DD and DSIL's ginger cat "Parkour" RIP.  I'll take a cherry popover any day but will pass on the Tofu. Funny quote!  I know I would like the wine with the hint of oak, and would probably like the drink too.  Have never been to Japan, will pass on the meal.  Last night we had the fish tacos and they were a hit!  I still prefer tacos with beef or chicken, but they were indeed good for a change.  Tonight will be the Souvlaki Beef Shish Kebobs from the recipe a few days ago.

Today we hope to get the blackberry vines sprayed that are behind our fence.  Those and the Cottonwood trees are a problem to all of us.  Most of the closest trees have been taken down, now to get rid of those vines.  They pop up in my garden, just like the roots from the Cottonwoods. 😡

Happy Birthday @Cruzin Terri!

Jacqui @kazu I'm sorry to hear that your elbow is worse.  It's time you had some relief, I hope the visit today will provide help.

Annie @marshhawk Very sorry to hear about the bad day and Chuck's further medical issues.

Terry @smitty34877 I'm sorry that your DH's bloodwork remains problematic.

@Nickelpenny Interesting about your port change.  We're waiting to hear what they'll do for the Grand Australia/NZ in January.  I wouldn't mind going to Kahului.  I heard that another cruise in October will get an extra day in Honolulu.  Either would work for me, I just don't want yet another sea day to replace Lahaina -- we'll have a LOT of those in January as it is. 😂

Here's a photo of Parkour when he was a kitten.

Try calling to book the cruise as they sail out of your lake.  They should be able to give you the date.  🤣

This month should be better than last month, because the last day of August, well... stunk!

DH had a visit with his  PA before the infusion, she went over the results with him from his scans, and it turns out he has some growth on his hip, that looks like some form of cancer, so they are trying to get him some kind of injection approved for him, that will help the hip, and he will get that when he gets his next infusion.  And then I showed her something weird going on with the back of his left arm, and she wants him to see the cancer dermatologist  ASAP.   Well there is a dermatologist right next door to the cancer center, and I had stopped in to make an appointment for me while he was having his infusion.  He decided that he wanted to see this doc, because someone should look at it immediately.  I still want him to go to the one he saw last year, but he is right, someone should see him soon.

Stunk is an understatement, Annie.  You’ve had a rough go.  Oh dear on Chuck’s developments.  I hope the doctors can help him 🙏   So sorry you both ended up sick yesterday 😔. How awful!

DH decided the itching was too bad to wait till after the cruise for the trial on discontinuing the extra eye drops so he’s off it starting last night. I’m hoping we can get his tonometer to connect to internet (for the pressure read-outs) via cell data or Wi-Fi in ports (of which there are a lot…. I think only one sea day of 9 northbound). Praying for Amazing!

I hope you can find the wifi you need or that the ship even has good enough wifi for you to use the tonometer.  Good luck.

Today is crunch day!  Time to ID all that we want to take, wash whatever needs it, lay it out and do a pre-pack. Tomorrow make final adjustments, everything has to be zipped up by afternoon as my niece is arriving then and we’re heading out to the dinner theater (for my birthday… 🤫). Off to make it all happen!

Crunch day - what a great description for the last minute tearing around.  Good luck!

Got the inevitable "we are changing the itinerary" for my Hawaii cruise in Nov.  They added Kahului to replace Lahaina and the On Deck for a Cause will be for Lahaina.  I think I will do the On Deck.

How nice the On Deck for a Cause will help Lahaina!  thank you for supporting it.

I never trust the kids to wake me up early when I’d want them to.  They’d be very happy if we stayed home.  We each set an alarm just to be sure to catch an early flight.

Terry, I'm sorry the bloodwork is still a problem.  I hope you can see the oncologist soon and be able to follow up on the suggestions.  The waiting to get an appointment, especially one sooner rather than later, is the worst part of the medical system.

Tony, thanks for the pictures of your tour in Nagasaki.  It gave us an idea of the part of the area we did not see.  I'm always surprised at the number of people who go to Chinatown for Chinese food for lunch when they are in Japan.  That happened on another cruise to Japan, too.

Karen, when you cruise to one area, or cruise a lot, the packing seems to go faster since you don't have to figure out where most things go in the luggage.

Dixie, for many years you could email the CCL statement in; then they changed to wanting it faxed.  On our last cruise in March 2022, they had changed it back to emailing.  That is much easier for us, since we no longer have a fax machine.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit.

No cats here. A cherry popover sounds good. Hard NO to Tofu; I once tried a "tofupup" at a cookout, which was a substitute for a meat hotdog (yuck). Interesting quote. I'll pass on the meal (fish), drink and wine. I haven't been to Nagasaki City. A day to remember in Canadian history.

I'm just back from PT. It's a nice sunny day, 77F at present, after starting off in the mid-50's. I had intentions of maybe doing some yard work after PT, but just don't feel like it. I need to start in the morning if I'm going to do that. BFF and friends from Germany are on their way back from Myrtle Beach.

@Cruzin Terri Happy Birthday!

@HAL4NOW Great photos, especially with the moon.

@kazu Sorry to hear about the elbow pain and I hope the cupping person can help.

@StLouisCruisers Good to hear that DGD is ok.

@ottahand7 I hope the staining isn't too difficult. Enjoy the family dinner.

@Denise T Chase is handsome.

@marshhawk Nice ginger cats. I am so sorry to hear about the growth on Chuck's hip. And I hope the lesion on his arm is not serious. And you didn't need the stomach upset on top of all of that! I know that Metformin can cause abdominal complaints.

@Seasick Sailor Wow, 6 dogs at your place!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Very interesting photos from Nagasaki.

@dfish Enjoy the day with River and your Farkle tonight.

@RMLincoln I hope stopping the extra eye drops helps the itching, but doesn't increase the eye pressure much. And good luck with online connections for the tonometer. Get that packing done!

@1ANGELCAT Thanks for the update on Barb; continued prayers for her recovery and that she tolerates the chemo.

@RedneckBob I'm glad you checked in and are ok.

@smitty34877 Continued prayers for improvement with Lou, as well as for Tana and the whole family.

@Cruzin Terri I have my ways, lol! Ugh on having to empty the rooms so the flooring can be replaced, and the broken security monitor. I hope you can take a little time out to enjoy your day!

@sailingdutchy Lovely photos from Nagasaki.

@aliaschief Yay!

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.
