No pepperoni for me, and also no shrimp. I do not want "a nice Hawaiian punch." I am rarely ready for anything, so why should today be any different?

 

No on the drink. Yes on the wine, or maybe Lamoreaux Landing 2018 Cabernet Franc. I was supposed to get to Goteborg/Gothenburg last year but the port was changed to Aarhus in Denmark. However, my TCM practitioner spent a year of high school and a year of college in Gothenburg.

 

The rest of my class assignment is a personal narrative to be delivered orally in no more than six minutes. If I were from Boston instead of Ohio I would be able to say 50% more in the same time and could tell the story properly. It's about being lost in the snow in the Sky Lakes Wilderness, so this cartoon is relevant.

Good afternoon!

 

Well, what an experience at the eye doctor's today.  It always comes down to the money.  They had all the specifics on my insurance for frames and lenses and were able to calculate to the penny what I owed for them.  However, they weren't so knowledgeable when it came to the exam portion.  They charged me a $25 deductible which does not apply to this exam.  Then they charged me for the refraction part of the exam (where they test the different lenses to figure out your prescription) because they said Medicare doesn't cover it.  I explained that I had the exam coverage for eyes that went with the glasses and it was covered under that.  They said they had no way of knowing that and that they only submitted to Medicare.  So, I have Aetna and my vision insurance company calling them to explain preventive coverage, co-pays, and coordination of benefits.  Grrrrrr.

 

It will all work out and is a first world problem in the scheme of things.  Relax, Deb, and have a glass of wine to celebrate no diabetic retinopathy, no glaucoma, and no macular degeneration.  Ok, now I have a Zoom meeting to get ready for.  I might get dinner in here sometime.

They'll do a procedure to hopefully fix the AFib while they're in there, too, because it will be open heart. Also going to do a CT scan the day before to see of there are any blockages and, if so, will fix those as well. One stop shopping! So after that I guess I'll either be mooing or oinking!

Insurance company says I have to clean up the tree before they come out and inspect the roof.  So between shifts I will be clipping.  They won't be here until 10/2.  I know that a person with a mighty chainsaw will have to get in after we clip away, but one day at a time.  The amount the insurance will pay for tree toting is less than the deductible, so i'm thinking that if the roof is not busted, and the windows are not damaged, we might just have to handle it ourselves.  The driveway is still collapsing.  The chunk that was dangling over the hole has finally gone through.  I need to do a short fix with gravel until we have the money for a new driveway.

 

I like pepperoni pizza, but I am more partial to a veggie pizza. The new garlic bread crust from Domino's is very good!  I'm always ready for everything.  If i don't like whatever it is, I take a nap or walk away, but I was ready to do something.  Looking forward to the recipes.

 

@rafinmdI'm glad that you decided to take the cruises.  They feed you, they make the bed and if you don't want to get up, they have room service! all you need to do is get some good fresh ocean air, and relax.

Annie, I can't believe they are making you clean up the tree before the will even look at what happened.  I hope you can find someone with a chain saw to help.  If we were closer, things were different here, and our chain saw wasn't in Arizona, I'd offer to help.  As it is, I'll lend moral support from a distance.

I would love some pepperoni pizza.  And the banana daiquiri wouldn't hurt, either.  We had an early wake-up from DD that one-year-old DGS is not feeling well, so DH went with her to emergency room and I'll pick up DGD from school later on.  No really worries, just an abundance of caution, as he's had some allergy problems.  Just a hectic start to the day.

 

Everyone, enjoy your Hump Day.  It's pretty overcast here in San Diego today, but after a long, hot summer, it feels pretty darn good.

Thoughts are with all those having difficulties.

This isn't as easy as I would have liked.  First Covid, and now the UPS store I usually use is remodeling and not easy to get to so I ended up at this one in the opposite direction.

 

I did go close to my regular UPS store but it was for groceries, prescriptions and I also got my flu shot.  Now I hear one of the possible side effects is fatigue.  Just what I needed!

Roy, IIRC from previous flu shots, I never felt fatigue, but if it happens, I think it would be short lived.

Edi, I'm glad you finally have a surgery date.  I hope there is noting else except the AFib that will need fixing.  I also hope you have a uneventful and quick recovery.   That will be a time to let others pamper you.

I'm glad you have a date set and that they can do so much for you.  They will often check for and repair other issues once they are in.  They like to avoid future surgeries.

I’m a mooer. Had open heart to replace my aortic valve. Upon release from hospital my surgeon ordered me to sleep sitting up which I did for a month. Fortunately I had a recliner. If you don’t have a recliner you might want to look into renting one.

Yikes = what a mess, Debbie.  I hated that my insurance company has me pay and then submit (they pay FAST - 24-48 hours for 99% of stuff) but it beats all that kerfluffle and aggravation you want through.

The thing that gets me is that they had detailed information about what was covered and to what extend on frames and lenses and then claimed they couldn't get that information about the exam.  Liars!  I can understand their confusion over the deductible, but my policy doesn't inflict that on me for this exam.  I'm giving it a few days and then I'll call their billing office and tell them to note in my file tht the refraction exam is covered and there is no deductible.  And, I'll tell them I am not paying them upfront ever again and waiting for them to reimburse me.  Who knows how long that will take.

Good evening.  I am late to the game again and missed yesterday.

it has just been a busy time.

Thank you to Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for keeping us on track.

I like Pizza, but not pepperoni on it.  I like punch,  i feel like I am always getting ready for something,  Never any down time.

i will pass on the food and drink.

On our past cruise the ship stopped in Gothenburg, Sweden.  i did not have any memory of what we did.  So i looked at my diary.  

This is what i wrote

    “We did not go ashore today.  I slept very poorly last night.  Jim was tired and did not want to leave the ship.  At 10 am after breakfast I decided to take a 1 hour nap.  I woke up at 2:30 pm.  It was too late to go ashore so I didn’t.  Jim was still sleeping.  So we missed the port of Gothenburg.”

 

So, unfortunately, I have no photos to share.

 

@JazzyV i have not heard from my cousin.  I have called and not gotten an answer.  The last I know is that the wound was infected and she was going to see a wound specialist.  Her daughter was staying with her and helping her.  I will try to find out more.

I have had some busy days.  As most of you realize, most everything falls on my shoulders.  

Today I had to take Jim for Blood Work.  Glad we went today as tomorrow we are due for very bad weather.

Afterwards I finished fixing our Gas Grill.  i started this on Monday.  It needed a new igniter.  I ordered it before we went on our cruise.  However when we got back it was so darn hot everyday that I just could not do it.  Finally it cooled down.  So on Monday I took the grill apart and today i installed the new igniter.  It took about 2 more hours of work today but it works fine.  We used it tonight and I was happy to do some grilling.

 

i am sorry to say that the floors are still not right and I have to get in touch with the contractor again.  The floor guy did a lousy job and made a mess of the baseboards and the doorframe to the bedroom.  The last person I ever want to see in my house is that floor guy, but I guess I don’t have a choice.  i have an email ready to send to the contractor.

 

We have just about everything ready for our cruise. Just have to get ourselves ready.  We leave for Italy in just about a month.

 

I have not been sleeping well.  I attribute that to the increased Prednisone dosage.  i am feeling better and hope that after i contact the Doc, it can be reduced.  i need more sleep.
