Shellyd22 Posted January 22 #151 Share Posted January 22 Thanks for posting! I noticed on day 1 Raw on 5 wasn’t open for lunch. I’ve heard in the last it was open onembarkation day on the Beyond. Trying to figure out if it’s a lunch open for our April Beyond sailing…

Dessert took a bit longer than usual to arrive but overall we were there about 1.5 hours. For us, that’s fine. We have enough 30 minute dinners when at home. With regard to timing, last night I went to dinner around 7:30 in Luminae. From start to finish was about an hour and I have never had so many people come by to check on me. Between the Maitre d (twice), the head waiter, assistant waiter, bread person, and sommelier (who stopped by four times) it was a constant blur of well intentioned souls making sure I had everything I needed. I finally started taking smaller bites so my mouth would be empty to respond to all the kindly inquiries. I had the short rib appetizer, the “strip steak” (or we could just call it the mystery meat because although I don’t proclaim to be a butcher, it was definitely not a strip steak) and Daniel Boulud’s milk chocolate pill for dessert. All were quite tasty. A very nice first dinner that left me somewhat amused, but I also feeling well looked after.

I dined solo in Luminae also last night around 8:15 and lets just say there was no lack of attentiveness there!

The issue is the cut of beef vs HOW it is prepared. Celebrity does this in luminae for two cuts of beef;the ribeye and strip steak. So while the cuts of beef are from the parts of the cow that are used to make ribeye and strip STEAKS, Luminae chooses to ROAST those cuts of meats and then serve SLICES of it A LA Prime Rib, which is the same cut of beef that ribeye STEAKS are from. I REALLY, REALLY wish Luminae would change the description of these beef entrees. Serving slices of a ROAST is totally different than grilling individual cut pieces of the same meat. It looks and tastes nothing alike. Edited January 22 by kwokpot

Unfortunately I had to cancel the first cruise since my father was admitted to the hospital. Luckily all is well (In a nutshell my dad, who is 94, was overexerted from being on a family Christmas cruise and subsequent NYE dinner. It all turned out just fine since he literally had every test under the sun done and everything was negative) and we were able to go on the 2nd leg.

Seems more "banquet hall" than "restaurant".
