Sea Pass Lanyard Question

I like the look of that

It's a nice case for travel!!!  The "back door" is pretty secure.  I don't have to give my cards to my husband to carry for me or worry about dropping them out of my pockets, if I have pockets.

But if are walking around in Rome with a lanyard....

I think a lot of people would have a bag with them where as on the ship not so much.

Everyone on a ship is a tourist. It's not the lanyard that gives you away. 😉

Being one and looking like one are two different things 😉

To me wearing a lanyard and looking like a marked sheep as part of a flock definitely belongs to the looking like one category 😉

It has been longer than a year that I have been on Celebrity, but can't you open the stateroom door from the app? I also believe you can give your stateroom number when making a purchase. If both of these still hold true it would not even require you to carry the sea pass.

But have you got a lanyard for your phone?!!

🤣 🤣LOL. Actually, yes. It is waterproof and came with a dry bag we bought for a tubing trip. But I couldn’t bring myself to hang my phone around my neck, even for just an hour. So I just left it behind instead. 🤣🤣

You still need your card to swiped/scanned leave the ship during port-of-calls.  Also, some passengers, like children and some portion of the adult passengers either don't have a smart phone, don't want to use their phones, or unable to use a phone (true elderly, etc)

As for lanyards, from my observation, Lanyards users are in the minority - post-pandemic.

Only on some ships. I'm currently on the Solstice and the room key needs to be inserted into a slot to open the stateroom door. Edge class has app or tap card to open door and the app may not always function well.

I am not saying to ditch the card all together. I'd assume if leaving the ship, most people would bring some sort of bag or wallet with them. My response was for the OP while they are on the ship, not every sailor.

Thank you.  I’d be bringing a backpack off the ship…

I have an older iphone so I went with the VENA iPhone XR Wallet Case. A friend has this one and likes it.

I don't have pockets (dresses, skirts), so I also don't carry my phone around with me, I use a walking stick and so I only have one hand free.

I need to use a lanyard, it makes life so much easier on board.

I have a bag when I leave the ship so no lanyard needed.

Remember some people have no choice if they don't want to have a bag with them all of the time.

with you 100%. The Boss (Anita) uses a walker the lanyard is essential. Having the card easily accessible is essential for unlocking the cabin door, ordering coffees at Al Bacio, in the shops etc. Have lost count of the number of times passengers struggle to find their cards when the server asks to see it or realise it's still in the cabin and have to go to Guest Relations for a replacement. Once off the ship the cards and lanyards is kept in a security pocket in my shirt. Once we get back to the port lanyards back round necks as it makes it easier for the checks that are involved.

agree it looks smart but please don't put credit cards or driving licence  in what you describe as a "pretty secure back door".

Phone lost or stolen and you will be annoyed phone lost or stolen with credit cards/driving licence with it and you are in deep trouble. Credit cards should always be kept separate from everything else.

I apologize that my original question seemed to offend people.  I don’t like wearing a lanyard because I have to for work but I have no care in the world what others do and certainly didn’t feel the question would offend anyone.

Years ago, I worked at one of the federal agencies housed on the Capitol Mall. Going out at lunch, it looked like the entire city was at a convention because everyone was wearing a lanyard. I prefer not to wear one, either, but I have pockets in everything I would wear in public.

Can you get a hole punched in your SeaPass or does that mess it up? Can we go to Guest Services and have it punched? That makes it a lot easier to carry on a lanyard!

On RCI can get card punched at guest Services or casino so I assume it is the same on Celebrity

The electronics in the card makes it very difficult - best solution is a lanyard with a transparent pocket.

You haven't.  People can be overly sensitive usually on cc but I think your post has received different opinions.

I have never worn the lanyard onboard or on land during a cruise.  And hopefully never will.  I understand about wearing one on the ship if no pockets but for the life of me cannot understand wearing one off the ship.

Thank you.  I definitely see the sensitive but mostly the over critical posters.
