Happy Birthday @Sharon in AZ Happy Birthday to @StLouisCruisers Dear Daughter! @kazu The sound of the sea and the echo of your love share a few characteristics in common: they are both constant and eternal. Happy Anniversary! Prayers are said for those on our care list. Tana has been in my prayer book for quite some time. Praying for her daily. Graham, we all knew where you and Pauline have been. But it's fun reading your cryptic posts. Will hop over and read your cruise review. Today we are having pool time with the wee ones, and later heading to a 7 year olds Birthday party. Blessings to each of you. Thank you Joy. I would love to do a ' Live From' cruise review but house insurance would be a problem if anything happened when we were away.

Happy Birthday to Susan and to Sandi DD. Hugs to Jacqui on her Anniversary. Welcome home Graham and Pauline. I’m not quite sure I understand today’s but if the recommended choice is for easy I disagree.. I thought I had visited Valencia but don’t think I actually have. Great days on art and film history.,. Today’s meal would be ok without the mustard but not with.. My alternative is Chilled Cranberry Soup, and Parmesan Crusted Veal Loin which would have been my choices June 5 2015 on MS Prinsendam if I had not dined in the Pinnacle Grill. Today and tomorrow will be a brief respite from the heat dome. I have finished my walk and later will visit the bank to cash in a CD for the church. Roy Thank Roy. I took this photo for you but couldn't post it till now. 23
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted June 24 #53 Share Posted June 24 (edited) Good morning from another sunny and windless day in central Texas. It is already 79F and heading to 96F with no chance of rain. The wind will pick up to about 10mph later which will help. The humidity is down to 85% with a dew point of 74F. We are also under a heat advisory until tomorrow evening. I expect that to be extended since all but about three days in the extended forecast will be in the low triple digits. Women in diplomacy deserve their day, and I also thought about Madeline Albright. Fairies are an interesting concept, and lunch breaks are good, but we only eat breakfast and supper. An interesting quote from J. K. Rowling. We'll pass on the meal and the drink. The Pinot Noir sounds good and has a good price. We drove through Valencia in 2001 on our drive around Spain before boarding a cruise. We had planned to spend time walking through the old town, but when we couldn't find a parking place nearby and the steady rain, we decided to keep driving. Two good days in the history of art and acting. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, please wish your DD a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY for us. I'm sorry you will miss another port. @marshhawk Annie, I'm glad you survived the trip to the vets. I'm guessing Avondale Estates will regret the reduction of lanes through the town when traffic backs up or gets to a standstill. @kazu Jacqui, I hope all your wonderful memories of DD DH make today a bit easier. @Denise T Denise, I hope your wrist is better soon. @smitty34877 Terry, I'm sorry Tana is having such a rough time. You, Tana, the teenager, and the rest of the family are in my thoughts everyday. I just wish there was more we could do. @grapau27 Graham and Pauline, welcome home. I'm glad you had a nice cruise. kochleffel Posted June 24 #54 Share Posted June 24 One of my friends was a bit overbearing after she met Madeleine Albright at a Wellesley alumnae gathering. The friend wasn't at all impressed when I said that one of my college contemporaries was then the president of the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Albright, who certainly knew him, would have been more gracious, or at least more diplomatic. When I worked in California, I had a troublesome employee who apparently wanted to show how hard she was working by not taking full lunch breaks, which could have gotten me, as the executive director, into trouble. I would like the green beans if they're not too charred. I misread the cocktail formula as specifying 1 cup of gin. For the wine, Wagner Vineyards 2020 Pinot Noir Reserve, $29.99. "This elegantly styled, oak-aged pinot noir is produced only from the most ideal growing seasons. This Pinot Noir has a gorgeous fruit forward bouquet. A beautiful wine that compliments food well without overpowering. It will age beautifully!" This will be a confusing and inconvenient day, because I have a webinar from 11:00 to 6:00 but want to get to the farmers' market between 3:00 and 6:00, too. 18

ger_77 Posted June 24 #59 Share Posted June 24 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I believe women make great diplomats - Ms. Albright is a prime example. My Scottish foster mother believed in faeries, which I think is lovely. Everyone should take a lunch break, even if it isn't to eat something, just get away from your work or house for a walk to clear your head. I don't know about the quote, not having read the books or seen the HP movies, but I believe you should do what's right. We had quite the day weather-wise yesterday; we knew it would be warm and it did get up to 28C(82) which for us is hot. Even the house got up to 27 before we realized it and turned on the A/C. Starting about mid-morning there were mentions of tornado watches that "could" occur later in the afternoon, so we knew something was brewing. Sure enough, around 4:30 it started with major wind, although the dark clouds kept going around our city - again, like we were in a magic bubble - and we stood outside watching as they moved ominously across the sky. We knew areas around us were getting hit with something, and between 5:30 and 11:00 there were 17 tornado warnings issued on the radio and television. A warning means a tornado is imminent, and looking online this morning it appears a number of communities were hit with hail ranging in size from peas to golf balls, and a couple of places lost roofs of buildings. I'm sure the tornados are minor compared to those in tornado alley, but devastating all the same to those hit by them. @Sharon in AZ wishing you a very Happy Birthday with many healthy and happy returns of the day! @StLouisCruisersHappy Birthday to your DD! @kazuthinking of you as you commemorate your and Jose's wedding day, a tough one to get through, I'm sure. @grapau27welcome back - I knew you were on a cruise, judging by the lovely dinners you were posting; either that or you'd hired some fabulous kitchen staff! Not a lot happening for us today, just cleaning up the yard from the winds that blew through yesterday. A couple of our begonias are totally waterlogged from all the rain, so I think we're going to head out to a greenhouse and pick up replacements for them, as they look pretty pitiful. I'm not sure about the drink of the day, would enjoy the wine, and think the menu suggestion would make a great side dish. I've got some ground beef thawing in the fridge that will be made into a meat loaf to be cooked in the air fryer on the deck, and that will be served along with asparagus and Greek salad at the table on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, in turmoil, and in the path of destructive storms and fires. Cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 25

Rare cruising sister Posted June 24 #62 Share Posted June 24 Good morning, The heat wave has reached us. It will be 100 degrees today. Thank goodness the humidity will be low. I am taking advantage of the shade on the front porch watching my neighbor get new furniture. I think today’s haul is bedroom furniture. She has been doing a home remodel and I can’t wait to see it. Happy Birthday Sharon. I hope it will be a great day. Jacqui, I hope your day is full of happy memories of your life with Jose. Stay cool for those of us in the heat wave. Prayers for those who are in need. Have. Great day.

Sharon in AZ Posted June 24 #64 Share Posted June 24 Good morning and Happy Monday! It’s still very muggy here so definitely monsoon season. Feels a little early to me but I’m not Mother Nature. Happy mutual Birthday to your DD Sandi @StLouisCruisers!! She picked a great day to be born! Jaqui @kazu, Anniversary wishes to you as you remember Jose today. I’m sure it will be an emotional day. I remember you posting wedding pictures before, maybe you could share them again? Thank you all for the lovely Birthday wishes!! So very sweet to wake up to my Daily friends wishing me a happy one. I will pass on the drink but I think I’ve had the wine before, maybe on a BHB even. I like green beans but not having them today. Thank you for the pictures of today’s port. DM has a hearing aide appointment today. I didn’t want to go out on my birthday but this appointment has been rescheduled twice so wanted to get it over with. We will go out for lunch and I’m going to suggest Red Lobster since I have a gift certificate from them due to my experience last time with the filet I ordered. According to the email I received they were going to reach out to the manager and staff to retrain them about the issue. Not knowing the difference between a strip steak and a filet! Tomorrow Craig is making one of my favorite meals for my birthday, Chicken Parmesan with Marsala Sauce. Hopefully he doesn’t ask for too much help. 😉 Have a great day! 28
JazzyV Posted June 24 #65 Share Posted June 24 Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. I'll salute women in diplomacy and fairies are cute. When I worked I tried to find time for a lunch break, but often worked through it, common in healthcare. I'd have to resee the movie to understand the quote. Maybe for the meal, maybe on the drink and yes to the wine. I have been to Spain, but not Valencia. 2 good days in history. It was in the 60's this morning and should only go up to 81 later! A break in the heat for now. There was some off and on rain yesterday, which was desperately needed. No big plans for today for me. @Sharon in AZ Happy Birthday! @StLouisCruisers Happy Birthday to your DD! Sorry that you are missing another port. Lovely Valencia photos. @grapau27 Welcome home to you and Pauline. I'll check out your cruise review. @kazu Hugs on this bittersweet Anniversary day. I hope the car AC can be fixed without too much cost. @smitty34877 Your DB will have had extra empathy, being in his particular field. I'm glad he comes to help you and can make Tana laugh in spite of how she's feeling. @ger_77 I'm glad you were safe yesterday, and hopefully no one was injured by the weather. @sailingdutchy Wonderful photos from Valencia and of your family. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating. 23

Cruising-along Posted June 24 #69 Share Posted June 24 Good morning all! We're going to have 2 days of sunshine, 70-75F, then rain showers will return. Three good days, maybe on the drink, no on the red wine, and the meal sounds yummy for a side dish. I think I'll print off the first recipe. We've been to Spain but not this port. DD and DSIL will be bringing the cats here in an hour -- and they will be mine for 5 weeks. 🙂 She just sent this photo of the DGSs saying goodbye to Smudge and Soot before they head off to school. DD and DSIL are picking up a rental RV after they drop off the cats, and tomorrow they will head out for their long road trip through the western US. I think the cats look very suspicious, they know something is going on! Happy Birthday Sharon @Sharon in AZ! Enjoy your day! Happy Birthday to Sandi's @StLouisCruisers DD! Sending hugs to Jacqui @kazu today. I hope the good memories will help as you think of Jose today on your anniversary. 25

durangoscots Posted June 24 #72 Share Posted June 24 Happy birthday to @Sharon in AZ. Sunny today and dry with highs in the low 80's. Not too bad. We may get more moisture toward the end of the week. Last round came in at a little bit over 1". I think I can leave the sprinklers off for another day or so. Lawn service is due to cut grass tomorrow and it needs it. Today is a "get it out of the house" day so I am loading up my car for thrift store and other disposal points and am also making multiple trips to our dumpster and to the recycling bin. I have some very dead electronics in a box ready to haul out to that recycling on Saturday which is the only day of the week they are open. Hopefully some space will be opened up for more sorting. I could probably get all of this done faster if I would 1) stop reading books and 2) stop looking at cruises. I am driving my travel agent crazy. Just finished the last of my second cup of coffee so I had better get back to work. I always start the week with the best of intentions but fizzle out around Wednesday afternoon. Tomorrow I have an eye doctor appointment that will definitely cut into my sorting routine. Just a routine checkup, but still it breaks up my train of thought.... actually will probably derail it totally. Susan

This was my favourite one as Jose’s best friend is grabbing his arm and you can see Jose is excited and happy to be married with the hand clenching and smile. This one was taken by a friend - not the photographer. She wanted my veil tossed over Jose and it was Jose’s favourite picture. There are lots of formal pics of course but those two were our favourites as they captured moments. We did a Hal excursion and lucky we did as road construction delayed our return trip.
