Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I will salute the NPS, who maintain our National Parks. Some good bargains can be found shopping second hand (some of my donations still have the tags on them). I like the occasional whiskey sour. Excellent quote. I like the meal. Pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to Male. 3 good days in history.

It's warmer today, currently 85F and more humid. I hear we'll be under a heat dome this week. Today was day 8 of doing my vertigo exercises. Still some symptoms lying to the right, none before bed. Walking isn't too bad, but getting up from sitting or going up steps still makes me woozy. Not sure why, but the last 2 days after posting the Cares List, I fell back asleep until 9AM! Unusual for me. I'm not sure what's on the agenda for this afternoon.

@LAFFNVEGAS Bon Voyage to you and Tom!

@dobiemom Bon Voyage!

@StLouisCruisers It sounds like DS was tuckered out. Enjoy today, and safe travels home tomorrow.

@grapau27 Thanks for the link. I hope you and Pauline have a nice afternoon and evening.

@TiogaCruiser Nice photos as you sail into Corner Brook.

@Crazy For Cats Enjoy Bar Harbor.

@Cruzin Terri Safe trip to Jacksonville tomorrow. Good news on the prednisone. I've been on 2.5mg for several years for my eyes (down from an initial 30mg a day). Unfortunately other meds don't control the uveitis well enough to get off totally right now. I hope you get good news from the Ortho doc.

@cat shepard Congrats on winning a bottle of wine.

@kazu You're doing great, so give yourself some grace when you have a day where you don't get everything done that you had planned.

@superoma The recipes look good.

@Sir PMP Thanks for the map and photo.

@marshhawk There are Gerontologists, a subspecialty of general medicine, who specialize in the care of older patients.

@cunnorl I hope you're feeling ok after your tumble yesterday.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

Good Sunday Morning Dailyites!  F1 was on this morning, glad I made DH check the F1 channel.  He thought the season started back next week, but there was too much chatter on googly news, so we woke exactly at 9, ran down the hall and got DH and we got to watch the race.

It has been cooler, but starting today temps will begin to rise again.  @StLouisCruisers it will feel like TX when you get back tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, safe travels @Cruising Terri, have fun with your visits and hoping for non invasive help with your shoulder.

@rafinmdRoy thank you for the recommendation.  I was able to get DH  an on line "shrink" to talk with through his oncologist, but for some reason this doc while,  he says I am a saint *, has no recommendation for me.  I meet a lot of people at the Winshiip center who's doctors say that when one part of a couple is sick/has cancer it means that their partner does too.  But DH has decided not to pursue Dr's at Winship but to stay with Northside, and they cant get an appointment for a dementia diagnosis for a year.  My doc is too young to understand any sort of problems that older folks suffer through, so if you know anyone who is studying to be a doc-tell them that they should become a specialist in "older" / senior patients.

* I am currently nowhere near being a Saint.

This reminds whole discussion reminds me of the line from "The Elderberries" cartoon strip ....

"My doctor tells me how to stay alive. He is 42, I am 85". No one really understands aging until 1) you are there yourself and/or 2) you are responsible for someone who is in throes of it. As the population has more and more of us ... doctors need to study and understand what is happening.

Good afternoon from a sunny but not too windy central Texas.  It is already 92F at 12:15 pm, and I'm guessing we may see a high above the predicted 96F.  With even less grass to mow since we haven't had any rain for several weeks, the mowing, trimming and blowing too less than two hours.  After sitting and cooling off for a few minutes, I worked on the marigolds.  Some were still in good enough shape to just trim out the spent branches and deadhead.  But about four were so far gone, I pulled them.  I'll keep the remaining ones as long as I can since I saw a small Monarch butterfly going from flower to flower.

Susan, I agree that many doctors do not understand the affects of time on our bodies.  I think our PCP has a better idea than most since he spends two days a week visiting the residents of the area nursing homes.  Also, his mother is at the point she needs someone with her during the day.

Good morning Dailyites

A beautiful 73 degrees warming to 96 today.

Thank you @grapau27 Graham for Father David's message.

Adding to our list of prayers are the tropical storm and hurricane headed to the Hawaiian Islands. @JazzyV I thank everyone for prayers for Bonnie. Please remove her from your list, it will be a longer recovery than expected.

Last night's birthday party was so much fun. The theme was "The man, the myth, the legend " A lot of laughs.

I'm taking full advantage of our Sunday. No chores, no market, no anything!

Tomorrow starts 5 days of appointments, mani and pedi, hair cut, our new Covid shots, flu and RSV, and a Birthday lunch. Saturday is our big day, flying to Seattle to start our cruise! My girlfriend is moving in to stay with Oliver, and they both love one another.

Wishing you a Blessed week. God bless!

Joy, I'm sorry Bonnie's recovery will be longer than expected.  I hope she continues to improve everyday.

Good afternoon, everyone!

I see you are in great hands with Eva @superoma doing the MoD.  A round of applause for Eva!!

We went out to Acadia National Park this morning.  The plan was to

hike Jordan Pond trail but the shuttle schedule didn’t allow for that.  So we hiked one of the carriage roads for a while.  We then returned to Bar Harbor and met up with Sharon @Sharon in AZ for lunch.

Vanessa I said my DB could be removed from the prayer list, well I was premature.  He had a very swollen knee with redness going up his leg last evening and went to the ER this morning.  He is on an IV is catheterized and his knee will be drained and antibiotics probably started.  It starts all over again. 😢

Perfect day for second hand clothing day today.  I pulled a lightweight rayon sundress out of my closet today.  It will be perfect for all the heat in our Hawaii and South Pacific cruises next winter.  I had several of them in my beach days but all were donated when I left MD except the maxi I brought to the cabin.  I thought another maxi for the cruise would be useful.   I went on eBay and found several maxis I may bid on.  My legs are so banged up I keep them covered.  Anyway those vintage Jams World dresses I donated are going for $40 to $80, more than I paid for them originally.

@Quartzsite Cruiserfishing was a bust sadly but we had a nice visit with our neighbor across the lake in our boats in the middle of the lake.

Hello, Dailyites- thanks for the news.  We had a busy morning- I went to the hospital around 9, saw Pat, the doctor came in and we talked,  discussed what happened(they really can’t figure it out either) - and Pat was discharged!  He is being referred to a dermatologist, and is to stay off all his drugs, except his blood pressure pill.  He will discuss with the cardiac surgeon if he wants him back on the statin.

Pat is having a nap, and when he wakes up, I’ll see if he wants some food!

Good afternoon, it's hot here...86F but feels like 100.  Our community festival is this weekend, went to listen to music yesterday and a parade today.  Didn't stay long because of the heat!  DGD and her spirit dance team performed at the football game Friday night.  They were awesome.  The Football team started off on a poor note, but won the game.  The 2nd 1/2 they were much better.  Hoping they have a good season!  They won the state championship 3 years in a row a few years back!

Cheers to all traveling, prayers for all who need them!  Have a great rest of the day!

Nancy, I'm sorry fishing was a bust, but the outing was not a waste since you got to visit with your across the lake neighbor.

Good afternoon almost evening.  Where did this day go?  Thanks for the daily updates.  So much useful information here, how on earth would I have known that it was whiskey sour day?

I like the quote but as my high school English teacher would have written on my paper, too wordy.

The meal sounded like a winner until I got to the chickpeas part.  No on the drink, my caffeine comes in a coffee mug no later than 10am.

I haven’t been to the port, someday perhaps.

Prayers for those on today’s prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events!

Pauline took the photo of my steak pasty and hot drink and never saw the ship.

The ship was on the horizon and I spotted it 30 minutes after Pauline took the photo and it was too far away to show on a photo.

If we had been at South Shields beach 15 miles up the coast which overlooks the River Tyne pier I would have had a perfect photo.

I checked a shipping guide which showed the Saga ship off our coast and the Newcastle port guide which said Saga Spirit of Adventure was due at 08.00am on Monday 26th August.

It was very windy so I presume they were going to dock 15 hours early.

My day was not a total day of binge watching, I actually went out and filled the bird baths, opened a new bag of bird feed, and filled 3 feeders, opened a feeding tube of seed, hung that up, and put out special food for the woodpeckers.  I also volunteered to give the mosquitos both of my elbows and the back of my knees as a sort of blood sacrifice for allowing me to refill the plastic ponds in the back, where I found the cutest little green lizard hanging out on the plant leaves.  It appears that I drowned his home.  (sorry)

We have had no rain, and not much humidity for the last two weeks, the last time I checked I had tadpoles in one of the ponds, no one was there now.  They either frogged out, or boiled up , but the pond was empty of wildlife.  And more than half empty.  I really need to clean them out, and get a new pump.  Another item I have put off purchasing, as I want a Danner pump, but no one seems to be carrying them, and I really didn't want to have to go see my old evil bosses from 20+ years ago, but it appears, I must.

Still watching departures, and there was a season 3, and I really dont remember it, but they are going to Russia, and we just left Siberia, and heading to Sri Lanka.

Good warm evening. It’s going to be back to summer heat this week, with Wednesday near 96.
Prayers are needed for an unnamed family in Harvey Cedars/Long Beach Island NJ whose child died in a boating accident this afternoon. The news reports are too graphic to post here. Please lord watch over the first responders as they process this tragedy.💔🙏

I hope everyone has a peaceful evening.

Nancy, my apologies about forgetting to mention your DB when I commented on your post earlier.  From your comments about him sounding chipper when he called, I hoped he'd finally gotten over the infection.  I hope they can find the right drugs and procedures to finally clear up the infection.

Bon Voyage Dobiemom (Marcia)!

Thank you all for the Bon Voyage wishes.

Well, my plan worked, I got to Seattle. But not without some small hiccups. My alarm went off at 3am and my plan was to be on the road by 4am. Was just 15 min late. But then I couldn’t find the parking lot, and when I found it I couldn’t see where the shuttle stops were. I had to call the non-emergency number and found out that the shuttle picks up were now from the street not inside the parking lot. By the time arrived at the terminal, checked my luggage, went through security, and got to my gate, boarding started within 2 minutes so We got there just in time.

I hope all the computer and internet problems in the Seattle port including SeaTac, which could be a cyber attack, don't cause Marcia @dobiemom and Lisa @LAFFNVEGAS problems getting to the ship today.

Just small inconveniences. I happened to arrive before @LAFFNVEGAS so I wanted to see what gate they would be at, but all the arrival/departure screens were dark. And then Lisa’s flight attendant said all luggage was delayed because of the  power outage (but I don’t think it was).

Wishing you all a wonderful day,

Acadia National Park is a wonderful area for hiking , we have been there a number of times on the Carriage Roads which were a gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller Jr and family and constructed between 1913 and 1940 . Our DD has a beautiful place on the quiet part of Mount Desert Island in Bass Harbor . We have loved going there for a few weeks .
